Hi Gaurav, the blue LED don't light up or blink by default. There may be possibility on already some code running on your ESP8266. Worked for me! Another thing that you could of mentioned, some boards will only work if you click upload on arduino, then wait for the "connecting......" to show up on the console, then you must immediately hold the bottom right button until you see stuff being written to it (in the micro usb port facing down orientation).

Universal drivers are not useless, you need to right click on device in device manager and click update drivers and select that universal drivers folder so that it can pickup the drivers and install
No matter what I do, it keeps telling me that it has failed to start. Can you please help? I am getting very desperate. I am on windows 10, I have installed and tried every cp210x driver. And also when I install the drivers, it does not automatically show up in the Device Manager. I have to press on "add legacy hardware" and then choose to manually add in the driver.
@@mashaelAlmohsen yeah, I changed the cables and it worked. It's because some cables don't have datalines and are purely for charging. I had a box of cables lying so I just kept on trying cables until I found one that worked

Hi Shahid, will be happy to know which battery you are using to power-up ESP8266. I mean what is specification (mAH). If battery doesn't provide enough current then ESP8266 will not connect to WiFi. As device consume more power when connect to internet ans battery may not provide sufficient power.

That blinking of on-board LED on NodeMCU has no significance. Please do check device manager if you're NodeMCU ESP8266 got COM Port detected by laptop. If so then select right COM Port for NodeMCU while uploading code.
Hey man i did everything shown in video and i did change cables 5 to 6 times the esp8266 is blinking then connect to laptop but its not being detected and when m uploading in it an error of saying smthing like error time out or no device connected(i.e esp) I tried the rst button too flash one too Even tried to upload the lower and stable version and also higher ones The error is same What problem is this do u have any solution?

Sir someone please help me out,🙏 i am new to this field, i took nodemcu first ,it was ch340 driver,i tried all possible drivers, the only thing that was coming is that there are no suitable drivers for device, then i took cp2102 nodemcu, again today i tried all possible drivers, still same error is coming,i have windows 11, installing windows 11 was the worst decision in my life,i tried going to advanced option to check if windows had its own driver, that told there are no drivers for this device, even though i give the location of driver it still comes no suitable driver found.i have to submit project in this is few days, any help is very appreciated.
Hi Karthik, please make sure you've used good quality of micro USB Cable. I've seen because of usb cable used for power or charging. Sometime NodeMCU ESP8266 doesn't detect to laptop. I hope changing Micro USB Cable may help you. Good luck!
It's a wrong tutorial. If device is called as not recognised that means there is some issue with the communication basically happend due to hardware failure. You can even experiment if you cut one of the data wire from USB port you will get this error. This basically means the uart serial chip is fried or either the ESP is dead.

Edit: Turns out it was the driver causing the issue! I needed to use the 3.5.2019.1 version instead of the 3.8.2023.2 one. Now they work good. I can't get 2 different ESP8266 To connect at all. I've tried different drivers and still, it wont connect to it in Arduino IDE. Different data cables / regular ones and nothing works. Not really sure what's going on unless, both the boards are bad. A third ESP8266 does work fine though! (Uses the CP210x driver). The one that works says Node MCU on the back while, the 2 others says ESP8266 and the boards are bigger. Very frustrating! The other boards pup up as the CH340 driver. I just don't understand what's going on. Tried multiple drivers that I could find from tutorials.
This was one of the few tutorials to show the entire process. Thank you!

Hi Karthik, please make sure you've used good quality of micro USB Cable. I've seen because of usb cable used for power or charging. Sometime NodeMCU ESP8266 doesn't detect to laptop. I hope changing Micro USB Cable may help you. Good luck!

It's a wrong tutorial. If device is called as not recognised that means there is some issue with the communication basically happend due to hardware failure.
You can even experiment if you cut one of the data wire from USB port you will get this error.
This basically means the uart serial chip is fried or either the ESP is dead.

How to maually reset nodemcu?
Hi Junjun, NodeMCU ESP8266 Board has RESET Button. Its just left to the Micro USB connector!

Hi Amritpal. try with other good quality of MicroUSB cable (make sure branded cable used) with drivers installed on your laptop or computer. Good luck!
Edit: Turns out it was the driver causing the issue! I needed to use the 3.5.2019.1 version instead of the 3.8.2023.2 one. Now they work good.
I can't get 2 different ESP8266 To connect at all. I've tried different drivers and still, it wont connect to it in Arduino IDE. Different data cables / regular ones and nothing works. Not really sure what's going on unless, both the boards are bad. A third ESP8266 does work fine though! (Uses the CP210x driver).
The one that works says Node MCU on the back while, the 2 others says ESP8266 and the boards are bigger. Very frustrating! The other boards pup up as the CH340 driver. I just don't understand what's going on. Tried multiple drivers that I could find from tutorials.
