Fascinating culture of people , Romany from India with 3 tribes that went north, south, east and west . Gypsy is a racial slur and offensive to the Romany people .
She makes real art with her body and her soul! Her faccical expressions are full of beauty and its very difficult to keep the dynamic movements and twirls around and around. People have no idea how difficult this is!
This is a friend of mine, Roxanne, who, along with her band, truly embodies the gypsy spirit. Bear in mind there are gypsies of every ethnicity--and the title was chosen by someone else. They are traveling performers, and go by the name Wine and Alchemy. Every culture and subculture has variations on dance, costuming, etc. If you feel you must be neurotic and rude, please keep it to yourself.
A little historical fact: Originally, nearly every Gypsy tribe came from India. They are scattered around the world, mixed up with the local nations. That's why most of their dances differ from one another, they even speak different languages and have different taboos.
so want to run off and join the Gypsies, lol. I watched Wine and Alchemy perform at the Michigan RenFest and just fell in love with the band. beautiful. so love watching them perform.
Beautiful to watch....you kept my attention for the duration which is saying a lot since my ADD rarely gets me past the first 20 seconds of a video before I hit next. Bravo!
The music was .. wow. Just wow. I wish I could download the song somewhere lol. And this 5 minute video is so worth it rather than watching a lady gaga music video. I'd watch this over and over. Watching this might increase my knowledge about this type of dance and inspire me to know more about gypsy origin.
Hey All, I'm the dancer in the video. My band, Wine and Alchemy, is currently running a kickstarter campaign to record a new CD. Thanks a million!
Hey lady :) I've seen this video two years ago for the first time. Since that day you're my inspiring example :) Love your dancing moves! Please always go on! Kisses from Germany :*
Yeah I am here again! ;-) This is My favorite Gypsy dancer video out of all the videos I have seen on UA-cam. This woman inspires me and the music rocks My world! I hope to see this live band one day. thanks to this video I will start practicing and letting my gypsy out. What is The name of this song?
@AileynD The song is called "The Victor" and the band at this time was "E Muzeki" (which is 1 girl and 1 guy) which did a mix of Greek, Celtic, and Gypsy music. You can find the sheet music (downloadable) on their website. However, the band split up. The girl now has her own project soon to launch. The guy has a new band which now includes that dancer as a singer under the band name of "Wine And Alchemy".
@akissy I know the trick, I got to learn it at one time while learning Flamenco. However, I still ended up dizzy and off balance after so many turns. So I find it amazing to see someone master it. :)

@MangoZapp Now that we've dispensed with the typical UA-cam ad hominem attacks. . . how does a recreational activity "leech off the system"? Why do you consider the enjoyment of dance and music to be "functionless", to the point that it deserves your petty insults? You yourself must have at least some shred of interest. Otherwise, why would you have clicked on this video? Surely, a man of your honorable caliber would not just be lurking as an ignorant troll. Would you?
@UnStevie Actually some renaissance festivals are actually doing that. At the Kansas City Renaissacne Festival we call ourselves the Great Travelers as none of our performers is of Gypsy/Romani descent and we don't want to offended anybody by pretending to be something we are not.
@thepirateinjeans They are awesome...Roxanne is a marvel & I believe she is of Romanian decent. She's a phenomenal dancer/performer & sooo beautiful & talented! Think one of the problems here is the poster put...Performing "like" gypsies.
It's great!! Usually the gypsies don't show their bellies when they dance, but I don't agree with @keithmotty1. She actually uses lots of skirt movements that are from gypsy dance.
And thats why I love me some 25 yards of skirt. And kids, she's not a roma gypsy. This here is like..the American gypsy, which is more or less a fantasy sort of portrayal, and the dancing is fusion, which has become more or less the American version of belly dance. PS: I loved the performance.
Indian manufacturers produce the best of such fabric. When you go shopping, check for made-in-India OEM label. You are more likely to buy the right type of skirt that can do the swirls shown in the video. Anyway, just my view for your reference.
What would be wrong with being a gypsy? My Great grandmother was a Hungarian Gypsy. She was a strong, beautiful and passionate woman that everyone loved and respected! I am proud to have gypsy blood in my veins!
If you want to check out some uber amazing "tribal" fusion check out Rachel Brice, Zoe Jakes, Dusty, Sharon Kihara, or Moria Chappell.....the gals are astonishing
Wine and Alchemy!! They are a fabulous group of talented musicians. Their lead singer can really dance:)
I keep rewatching this video. What a beautiful dance. :)
I have been fascinated with gypsies, especially the dancing. I mean, they have such passion and such amazing moves, and I am so envious.
Fascinating culture of people , Romany from India with 3 tribes that went north, south, east and west . Gypsy is a racial slur and offensive to the Romany people .
She has mad skills not to get dizzy and fall into anything dancing like that! F the five people who dislike this vid!
She makes real art with her body and her soul! Her faccical expressions are full of beauty and its very difficult to keep the dynamic movements and twirls around and around. People have no idea how difficult this is!

It's amazing how she still knows what direction to face after all that spinning around. I'd surely lose my balance fast. Beautiful!
A little historical fact: Originally, nearly every Gypsy tribe came from India. They are scattered around the world, mixed up with the local nations. That's why most of their dances differ from one another, they even speak different languages and have different taboos.
You can tell that the performers really enjoy what they do .
beautiful!! It's so gorgeous to see a woman having fun with herself and the audience. I like your style and rhythm, shake it momma!!!
Wine and Alchemy is an awesome band and they are such amazing people. They are a very ecclectic Gypsy -like band
so want to run off and join the Gypsies, lol. I watched Wine and Alchemy perform at the Michigan RenFest and just fell in love with the band. beautiful. so love watching them perform.
I'm so in love with that song and that dance and also those clothes...
I want to do that!
She's a doll!!!!
Very beautiful!
The dance is amazing!
I love it!
The group playing the music is Emuzeki. I saw them at a Ren faire in Florida. I recognised the woman playing the guitar.
I love her style. It's so fun to watch.
That gril is SOOOO talented!!!! I've seen her other videos and her dances with sword and zills are equally amazing!
Beautiful to watch....you kept my attention for the duration which is saying a lot since my ADD rarely gets me past the first 20 seconds of a video before I hit next. Bravo!
Oh and by the way: If they make another "Hunchback of Notre Dame" filme I vote for her to play the part of Esmeralda :)
The music was .. wow. Just wow. I wish I could download the song somewhere lol. And this 5 minute video is so worth it rather than watching a lady gaga music video. I'd watch this over and over. it makes me think of moorish Spain! a Gitana of those days dancing in the plaza! the music and dance is mesmerizing!
wow she' s lovely!! i love the way she dances!! i wish i was there to see this in person!
Finally, I have been looking for a good example of a fan and skirt dance!!! This one is beautiful and her transitions are so smooth :)
Awesome, American fantasy "gypsy" dance....
so fast! Nice use of skirt and fans,

OMG! You are fantastic!!!!! You're dance is inspired! So passionate!! I love the name Wine and Alchemy!!!

I saw this lady at the Michigan Renaissance Festival about four years ago, I believe. She did sword and fire dances as well.
I really think this piece of music can prolong life if we play it once in the morning everyday.
This is a friend of mine, Roxanne, who, along with her band, truly embodies the gypsy spirit. Bear in mind there are gypsies of every ethnicity. The movements in her arms are so alike to ones used in the dances of Guadalajara, Mexico, we can't deny that we are desendants of spanish people XD

@UnStevie Actually some renaissance festivals are actually doing that. At the Kansas City Renaissacne Festival we call ourselves the Great Travelers as none of our performers is of Gypsy/Romani descent and we don't want to offended anybody by pretending to be something we are not.
Everything. How to dance, the history. Everything.
@thepirateinjeans They are awesome...Roxanne is a marvel & I believe she is of Romanian decent. She's a phenomenal dancer/performer & sooo beautiful & talented! Think one of the problems here is the poster put...Performing "like" gypsies.

Now THAT is a REAL seduction dance!
It's great!! Usually the gypsies don't show their bellies when they dance, but I don't agree with @keithmotty1. She actually uses lots of skirt movements that are from gypsy dance.
Love it
@ifancyapieceofbrie It's a 25 yard tissue cotton skirt. Just google 25 yard skirt and you'll find many vendors who sell them.
Would you know this song's name? I love it.
And thats why I love me some 25 yards of skirt. And kids, she's not a roma gypsy. This here is like..the American gypsy, which is more or less a fantasy sort of portrayal, and the dancing is fusion, which has become more or less the American version of belly dance.

@cheajna Roma or Romani is the correct term. Romanian is the term for people that come from the country of Romania
What would be wrong with being a gypsy? My Great grandmother was a Hungarian Gypsy. She was a strong, beautiful and passionate woman that everyone loved and respected! I am proud to have gypsy blood in my veins!
