Guess I will get to this after the season. Also going to pull the third members and rebuild them. At that time I will see how the front axle is locked. And potentially change the side gears and better axles.
Thanks for the video. My next move is the 26 spline axles and Spartan Locker up front on my Zuk. Your video will definitely help Kyle. My Spartan locker in the rear has been awesome. Made a huge difference!
Thanks for rhe feedback! Those Spartans are good lockers. I have them front and rear in both of my rigs. If you haven't purchased the axles yet I would recommend RCV. Great warranty. Cheers 🍻
I’m about to do those RCV axles in mine and was contemplating weather or not I should just buy a rebuild kit and do it while I’m in there instead of just a gasket kit. I did the bearings last year and have been daily driving mine for a year. So I suppose it’s good advice to go ahead and replace everything, thanks Kyle 🤩
Hey man, how can you tell this work needs to be done? Just picked up an '88 and a shop I took it to recommended it but I can't tell if the car actually needs it. Any telltale signs beyond knowing the time since last rebuild?
@@FortuneOffRoad mine has a lot of miles and lived a life off road. I can’t remember if I replace wheel bearing or not. I don’t think so. It didn’t move much for 18y. Now I have it all fixed up and have to start tearing it apart. Oil leaks from everywhere and there is grease all over the steering knuckles. It let me know real quick how unhappy it was to start moving again. I’m not sure I want to know what the insides look like. I’m currently standing in my garage, cleaning it all out, so I have room to pull the axles out completely. Adding a proper suspension set up while I’m at it. The video is very helpful. I’ll come back to it when I’m at that point.
If you're not packing your bearing from the big side to the little side until you have grease coming out the small side then you are not packing your bearings.
Got my seal and bearings kit. Picked up a ranch samurai in colorado. It has probably not been done in a long time. What is the studs size and pitch for the inside seals felt and plates? Great stuff!
I've been putting off doing lockers in my front and rear 88 samurai but after watching this I got motivated, thanks!
Cool man! What lockers are you looking at? The Spartan lockers work really well for me.
@@FortuneOffRoad Yep. I got the same ones.

That's my strategy too. Gotta wheel now, rebuild later.
Thank you for all of your videos. We are working on our 92 Jimny. Quite a few of your videos have been very helpful :)
Excellent! Good to hear!
Very well done video.. great lighting, easy to follow..
Awesome! Thanks for the feedback. 🤙🏻

@@FortuneOffRoad who can you purchase the RCV from?
@@terrycahill8362 I would go through RCV themselves. I think that's part of the warranty

In hindsight I wish I would've gotten the RCV axles instead of the Longfields. The warranty seems awesome
@@FortuneOffRoad buy once, cry once 🤷🏼♂️🤣
Cheers, for sharing.
Great video mate!
Thanks dude
Great videos. Keep up the good work! Did u have to do an allignment afterward?
Yes, used The TMR DIY alignment tool.
Did you check the kingpin bearing preload at all with the fish hook scale on the knuckle?
No I just used the same shims as before and sent it

Time since last rebuild is a good indicator. If you don't know when it was, it's probably time
Awsome!!!
How in the world do you wear your sneakers to the point there are holes in the toes?
You just keep wearing them! 🤠
Every year to two years. Not 35 years riding on 31s… Got it.
Mine didn't like 2 years, that's for sure!

Right on!
Are these the original samurai axles?
Yes, but they've been upgraded in almost every way 🤘🏻
What tcase gear are you running
Samurai tcase with 6.4:1
Is it stock axle?
Yes, stock samurai axle.

I agree
Why am I watching a samurai video
I'd say envy
