Great take by greeny. The question is who was the better prospect “when in college”…not when they’re a few years in the nfl. It’s like how people are now on the stroud bandwagon…stroud wasn’t the consensus top QB last year but people like to act like it wasn’t the case. Objectively as a prospect coming OUT OF COLLEGE, this comparison is extremely reasonable.
Not really if you know ball. Burrow was obviously elite. Williams has major holes in his game.

Burrow had the greatest season ever by a College QB.
1 season, the rest of his college career was very poor. And while he has lots of talent, in the NFL he is indisputably fast becoming injury prone. In 4 years, he has had 3 major injuries, starting a season because of one of them, and the other two ending his season on IR. That’s 50% percent of the seasons he has been in the league, he ends in IR.
Joe did not miss a throw in 2019. Genuinely.

To me, the biggest difference between Burrow and Caleb Williams is leadership. Burrow just comes across as a natural leader that people want to go to war with. Caleb is talented but doesn’t look like a leader to me. At least not now.

That’s the elephant in the room and why I don’t think Bears keep the pick. Poles was there when KC brought in Mahomes but he sat for a year and A Smith was a pro bowler and so was Hunt, Hill & Kelce with Reid at HC. Mahomes walked into a playoff team. Situations make players.

Burrow's character seperates himself from the rest. people can keep sayin ahh he has all the talent around him but the fail to acknowledge his ability to take over the game in the final moments. if you are down in a game with minimal time left that is where joe burrow shines. IF cincy gave him a o line like he had a lsu he would have a ring if not 2 already by now. in a 4 year span he is the most sacked qb and its not even close.

To me, a UCLA/Nebraska fan for the past 26 years, Joe Burrow is the best college QB I've ever seen.
While he ultimately failed as expected in the pro game, Tebow had a pretty crazy college career - both in terms of accomplishments(individual and team) along with storyline. Joe had one great year, and the rest of his career was mediocre at best.

I know it’s a trend to hate on Caleb now for some reason (this happens to all of the best prospects before drafts.) but it’s Caleb and it’s not close no disrespect to Joe Burrow. Burrow was not projected 1 or the best QB in college until he beat Clemson and T Law in the championship game. In contrast to this Caleb has been consensus best QB and player in CFB since he took over as a freshman at OU.

There’s a bunch of quarterbacks who didn’t win a lot at the college level and still found success in the NFL. It’s mostly about where you go in the NFL and how stable that franchise is. The Bears have yet to generate a good QB in their 100 plus years of existence. Chances are Caleb is gonna be yet another victim, unless he truly is “generational.” We’ll see.
