- Be safe this Thanksgiving! Make sure to completely thaw out your turkey before putting it in the fryer. Brooklyn Park Fire Department shows us what can happen if you put a still frozen turkey into a deep fryer.
Check out more safety tips.

Obviously, one should never allow a fireman anywhere near the deep fried turkey process.
1. The pot started overflowing as soon as he started putting the turkey in the oil. You only need half the amount of oil they had in the fryer.
2. You need to put the turkey in the oil s-l-o-w-l-y. You never drop the turkey in the oil.
@@teamgeist3328actually, do. If you haven't tried it then you don't know.
Everything in this video is misguided.
@@nearlydead6986 that was sort of the point. It was a demonstration of what can go wrong. There's a reason they're in turnout gear.
It was only a demonstration. The dangers of too much oil in the fryer.
🦃 Gooble Gooble 😊✌️
Maybe good idea not to fill the oil to the brim before the food goes in!
Never dip a frozen turkey in a deep fryer!
I think maybe we should calibrate on exactly what an explosion is….
Got an automatic dislike from me. People can never be honest these days.
This is how its done when you forget to put the turkey in the oven and your guests will be here in 5 minutes
Frozen or not, if you fill the fryer to the brim with no turkey in it, you're gonna see *something* happen.
... and this is why we don't let firemen cook.
Far too much oil in the pot.
My thoughts exactly!!
Number 1, once it the reaches target temp, 375- 400 degrees Fahrenheit, the iburner should be turned off before lowering the turkey. Number 2, that was too much damn oil in the fryer, & Number 3 never put a frozen bird in a vat of hot grease! Moisture & hot oil don't mix!!
“Hey Dad, this turkey is fire!”
Did they at least finish the turkey and eat it
"Andy, as God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fry!"
Don't let a fireman cook your Turkey.
I was expecting the pot to actually blowup along with the propane tank.. 😅
They stole my cooking process
When it's smoking it's cooking, when it's black it's done.
Well, folks that's how ya put it out!
It's much safer to do that inside!
A demo...I was about to ask who cooks a turkey on a street corner lol.
Always turn the flame off, place Turkey in the oil, and relight
people actually do fry turkey ,its crazy .i dont go near hot oil .i dont even use oil to cook with .
So that's how you cook your turkey in 30 seconds 🤔
I think as a society, were are dumber today then we were 20 years ago...................
The good thing is that by the time this UA-cam video ends the Turkey is done.
It didn't actually explode.
This year we deep fried a horse. Don’t worry. It wasn’t frozen.
Don't see the problem. That's how we always make it at our house.;-D
Hmm. We seem to not know that words are or have common sense- NOT an explosion, and splooshing oil all over a hot, LP flame burner is going to ignite the oil. There is nothing to see here
Where was the explosion?
How was the turkey?
Now that's a fire !!!
Dinner time!
Clean up , on thirty thurd and thurd 🤦🏼♂️
I think it will have a crispy skin
Honestly not even that bad, considering the turkey was either frozen and or there was way too much oil in the pot.. could just wait till the fire dies down and ladle some oil out and keep on cookin 😎
It would’ve been bad if it was too close to the house or on a wooden deck
Good video :)
Looks like they overfilled oil also! Think they would know better?
I've had fried turkey. It's not worth it.
Its because you have to shut the gas off first before dropping the bird. Then cover it and start the gas again. Problem solved
Knowing how much oil it takes to cover the bird WITHOUT overflowing is also important.
@@kennethgenz4784 your correct. Also not dropping it in like he did just take your time drop it in slowly
Actually no, because if you just dropped in the bird fast with oil @350 degrees it will still blow out and burn tf out of you.
Combine what the last two posters said . Don't overfill and go slow. It takes a good minute or two to submerg the bird.
@@chalonchaney5198 im aware of this ive made many birds never an issue just go slow and turn the gas off. Make sure the bird is very dry and not frozen. I have a video of me dropping a bird safely. Plus you have to be smarter then the average bear.
@@ryans9103 where’s the video
What a waste of a turkey
They could’ve kept going
This could be used as a fucking weapon
Its done
What's the point of this video? I'm not seeing any issues.
Oh no
Umm, maybe NOT over fill it and expose the FLAMMABLE - OIL - to the FLAMMABLE - FIRE!!!🤷🤦
Too much oil
Dropped bird in too fast
didn't turn heat to low or off before putting bird in
bird frozen or excesses moisture on bird
American cuisine
Nope u cant deep fry a frozen turkey thats what happens de frost ur gobbler first
Even if it is done, deep frying turkey doesn't taste good. It's dry and bland.
Yes. If u don't inject it w/marinades, season the skin & it don't allow it to throughly thaw, it will be dry & bland.
Try a 24 hour wet brine. Rinse, pat dry and fry 3.5 - 4 mins per lb @ 350F.
@@TJ-zl3tx brine+ deep fry produced the juiciest, most delicious turkey I’ve ever had. If someone had a dry deep fried turkey that simply means it was in for too long.
It is delicious to me. When you inject it with the marinade and let it set in the fridge. Drop that bird, deep fry that bird, and pull it out and add more creole season .....it is Over...😂😂😂
This is firefighter propaganda. Frying a turkey does have dangerous elements. The creators of this content have greatly exaggerated these dangers. This is NOT public service. This is public disservice! VERY DISSAPOINTED!
Yeah this is like showing a crash test on automobiles and telling people it's to dangerous to drive them.
That is very dangerous. I hope everybody is okay..
No, the squirrel in the tree got fried.
Given it's 2023 (22 when you made the comment), I litterally can't tell if you're serious.
Who the fuck deep fries a Turkey lol
Rick Bucknell, I have and they are delicious!
