    Today Rob shows you how to do your first 3D scan with the Einscan SP.
    The Einscan SP, a desktop professional structured light based 3D scanner from Shining3D designed to make professional level 3D scanning more accessible. The turntable makes scanning an almost 1 click operation with an easy to use setup and calibration process to get you up and running quickly. We’ll have more videos soon covering the tips and techniques when using your Einscan SP
    Metrology and reverse engineering are made easy with 3D scanners with use cases across the board. These scanners are highly accurate and easy to use, making them perfect for anyone wanting to verify dimensional accuracy in certain cases or to easily reverse engineer and recreate objects when a 3D model simply isn't available. For example, in a past news episode we covered Chris Forsberg using 3D scanner based reverse engineering to create a custom widebody kit for his Formula Drift Nissan “Altimaniac”. Check out our other 3D scanning videos where we've scanned vintage skateboards, tried out the iPhone 12 Pro Max's LiDAR scanning features and the unboxing of its siblings the Einscan Pro HD, Pro 2X Plus and the H and HX handheld 3D scanners.

    As always, thanks a lot for your uploads. I really enjoy all the content you guys do. To answer your question, I would love to see a complete process of 3D scanning, CAD work, and final printing of a product. I know that is a lot to ask, but would be awesome to see. Kind of like the videos that the guys of Easy Composites make (I hope there is no problem of mentioning another channel here). Thanks again, keep up the good work!

    Dear Rob (Vision Miner),
    I have a question about the Einscan SP and 3.1 software .. You say in the video that you can set steps for turntable from 4 to 180, but I can only set it between 8 and 36 ?
    Great channel .. Please make a follow up video on setting up Einscan SP or any 3d scanner with included Tripod with calibration etc ...
    Kind Regards from Jim down under Australia !!

    I would like to see if you can scan a G.I. Joe or Cobra aircraft like for the G.I. Joe Skystriker or the Tomahawk, and for Cobra, either the Night Raven, Version 1 or the Cobra Mamba on that scanner if you can, and what I would like to do, is to make it all remote controlled by 3D printing it out, as well to make it fit 6 inch figures.

    Tuff review!
    Can this system build on the scans it’s already captured? Fill in data where it needs it without having to do a fresh higher capture scan?

    • @VisionMiner
      @VisionMiner  2 роки тому

      Yes, absolutely! The align function is super easy to use, and you just import other scan data or open a saved project to add to it -- either way, it would best be done in a post-processing software like Geomagic Essentials :)

    So once I have my scan I get like 500 files on my computer. Which one is the one I use to do anything with the scan? Like if I want to 3D print this model now, where is that file?

    Hi Rob, Can you scan a medium sized insect? like a grasshopper? Which of the scanners would be good for that? Thank you!

    • @VisionMiner
      @VisionMiner  2 роки тому

      For that, an Autoscan Inspec would probably be best -- these scanners would get some of it, but the Autoscan Inspec is way better, and designed for objects of that size -- we've got them available, just give us a call Monday and we can get you a quote :)

    Hi Rob, love your review as it answered a number of questions I had! Can you tell me, would the Einscan SP be able to scan on the turntable a folded drone of about 220x100x90mm ?

    • @VisionMiner
      @VisionMiner  2 роки тому

      I would imagine that could work fine -- I'd probably opt for a bigger one, but with the SP you also have the option for a fixed scan on a tripod, to do still objects, aside from the turntable :)

    You mentioned that this automates reverse engineering? Did i understand that right? (I intend this as helpful feedback and not as negativity) it seems like there is a lot of post processing work involved to get a usable mesh. For a product that is many tbousands of dollars, I would've anticipated tjat it woukd save a lot more work.

    Hello, I have a question:
    in a room where there is a lot of natural light, is this a problem to scan an object? Or should the 3d scanner work in a normal or low light environment?

    • @VisionMiner
      @VisionMiner  2 роки тому

      Less light is better, in general, but a low-light room is not required -- you'll be fine in a well-lit room :)

    • @VisionMiner
      @VisionMiner  6 місяців тому

      It would be great actually -- they'd fit the size, and you'd get excellent detail/resolution with the turntable -- that would be a winner!

      Scan in lower resolution (accuracy remains the same) and get something like Geomagic Essentials to process the data into native CAD shapes first

    5:28 in your video on turntable control targets in align mode, I’m pulling my hair out because mine will start the scan but won’t pick up onto any reference points or green dots. But will scan fine in feature mode.. any suggestion

    • @thrillhouse_vanhouten
      @thrillhouse_vanhouten 8 місяців тому

      I'm 7 months late to this, but Turntable Targets mode will only work if there are a minimum of 4 targets visible in each step of the scan. If the scanner is having trouble seeing them, try adjusting the angle of your scanner. Features mode will usually work for any object that has sufficiently complex geometry.

    • @GregSheka
      @GregSheka 6 місяців тому

      I have the same problem... if on turntable encoded targets it doesn't even project its structured light sequence.. it just shines a sold light and steps through while not capturing any information. I''ve even just put a tiny item in the middle to assure none of the turntable table targets are blocked.

    • @VisionMiner
      @VisionMiner  2 роки тому

      Technically you can put it on a tripod, and then you could scan sections one at a time, and stitch them all together with the alignment feature in the Einscan software :) We haven't tried this, but theoretically it could be done!

      Not much better than without color, unfortunately. The HX really "shines" in that area... but if you can spray, you're good! if it's dark/reflective, though, HX is the way to go.

    Einscan SP & SP V2 are great at scanning the shape & geometric details of objects, but are REALLY NOT GREAT at capturing texture detail on small objects. 1.5 Megapixels is very, very insufficient, producing VERY blurry textures.

    scanning kids toys is useless for alot of potential customers. Videos that CAD designers in cnc job shops can relate to would be very helpful. scan real world items like automotive parts, suspension parts, motorcycle parts, bike parts etc... the need to build a cad model of a engine so you can design parts around it, turbos, superchargers.... scan an entire engine compartment.
