My two fav tanks is my starter cube 20 with cabinet from waterbox and the marine x series. Been really enjoying all the waterbox tanks, just no filter socks.
I am new to the hobby and can say that with my 20 gallon I'm already seeing all the major restrictions by not going to 30 gallons, something like a diamond watchman goby I can't have. Really wish I had stepped up to 30 gallons but I have space restrictions to consider too. Seems like 30 gallons opens up the most species, although obviously not everything.
Yessss! I’d have all Frogspawn if I had to choose just one. I’ve been getting beat up with my new tank cracking on the corner and then the replacement leaked everywhere so I have been feeling a little defeated. I picked up a new FS colony yesterday with colors I haven’t seen before and it made me so happy this morning 🐸💞
I would love to see the tank equipment video. I am currently setting up a 6ft 120G tank and I'm having issues figuring out what powerheads and skimmer to get.
Don't forget D-D in the 'mainstream' tank manufacturer comparison. Couple of differentiators compared to red sea/waterbox - proportions, height of cabinet and crucially imo the fact the front pane of glass is fully supported by the cabinet (which is immense). CADE are stunning with power management, etc., but I added that into my D-D using DJ switches for a lot less than the difference in price!
Here in Canada the trend is definitely for smaller nano tanks...big time. Recent cost increases have put even mid size tanks out of the reach of many. Plus I see so many used larger tanks for sale all the time...nanos less often.
I bought the tmc reef habitat 90 set up and since changed the return pump power head and lights should of just gone red sea lol 😂 but my biggest mistake was adding Kenya trees
I would say if it’s your first ever tank. As in never even freshwater then a 3ft 40 gallon breeder is a perfect choice. If you’ve had something like a 55 gallon freshwater tank. Then go for a 120 gallon 4ftx2ftx2ft. Or you will quickly wish you had!
Vallentini puffers are easy. I have a RS 250, I dreamed of having what Ryan has, but came to my senses 😂. Dream tank a RS peninsula,I think they are around 650l? To expensive for me, seen them used for half the new cost.
I think you’ll really like the CADE tank. I bought the CADE 600 as my first tank with a sump and it’s been very nice. Unfortunately it convinced me bigger tanks are better so it will be upgraded in the next year.
Here in Australia the Cade 2100 goes for $8k. The Redsea S-1000, the same size is $11k. Interesting to see that Cade costs more in the UK. Admittedly the S600 is slightly more expensive than the Red sea G2 200. And Waterbox.... is nowhere, distributor is not doing them any favors.
@@ReefDork Speaking of Cade, I dont think many realise the differences in their peninsula lineup. They are, at least compared to Waterbox and Redsea, the widest peninsula's on the market, with the 1800 being 800mm wide, compared to the 600/650 of competitors. As a result the 1800mm (6ft) peninsula has a similar water volume to the new Red sea S-950. I think Ryan will allow a wider tank if its a peninsula 🙂
Ben Johnson made the claim regarding Reefbuilders on the Reef Beef podcast about the studio, based on a rumor he heard on the Reefbeef podcast. The following podcast he dedicated a whole section of the podcast to clarify it wasn't being closed down and apologized to everybody at Reefbuilders for the claim he made.
Until my old tiktok account got deleted my unboxing video of my mystery boxes I bought from prestige reefs had over 10k views on 1 video and 25k on another i # prestige reefs because ryan has a tiktok account lol 😂
I get a really odd Gatekeep-y vibe from Prestige reef/Ryan. Alex seems to be a lot more entry friendly and open to the idea of the everyday small reef hobbyist, and he's a lot more reluctant to call things wrong or say that one way is the only way.
Smaller tanks usually end up costing you more due to their instabilities, alongside you getting bored fast and wanting to upgrade if that's what you mean?
@jhaych not necessarily on the boredom front. I get the cost part to an extent. I mean I have a 15g IM nano tank and yeah, I spent as much on it as I could have spent on their 25g lagoon. But the footprint works best for me. I feel like most of the cost goes into the equipment and not so much the tank itself in comparison. As for boredom, I guess it's different for a lot of people. I enjoy the daily checking and routine I have for my tank. It's something I have that I can focus on, and it helps in a lot of ways with depression by being a daily anchor for me. Idle hands are awful with things like chronic depression. I get immense satisfaction knowing I'm working daily to provide a clean, thriving habitat for my two little fish and the soft corals I keep. I have no desire to push that by adding more fish.

I've had my six line disappear for 3 months before only to pop back up. Also had a fairy wrasse disappear for 2 weeks but it was in the overflow/weir.
Again, great episode! 👍

Use the DOS for water changes, all I have to do is mix the salt and add it to the salt water reservoir. The important bit is that it fails off.

It would also be good to add reef habitat kits to your review as well reef dork
Any app looks good when you use GHL Mitras, love my lights but the software is hilarious 🤣
I thumbs up. Due awesome art on wall

Is there a big difference between 5 foot and 6 foot? Like any fish you would say “No a 5 foot isn’t big enough, you would need a 6 foot for that.”

Interesting - Cade are a good bit more over here. Sounds like they're a bargain in Oz!

Hi all
I bought an established tank second hand as my first tank and regret it. If you go second hand, buy an empty tank.
