Great video and a great entertainer in Lorrae. And there was a time when Americans pronounced Melbourne correctly!

What a glamour Lorrae Desmond was in her younger days. She looked great in that figure-hugging dress. A very talented lady.

Thank you for all the work you've put into creating this channel, Gary! I'm having lots of fun watching "new" episodes everyday, and all uploads are always appreciated and enjoyed! I'm just curious -- where did this video come from and do you have any idea why the middle portion, with the chimp sketch, was missing?

Jack first had the Marquis Chimps on his TV special on 3/18/59. That sequence repaired during his May 1959 special. The skit was seen again during an episode of The Comedy Hour Specials in August 1963. I wonder what the chimps did during this episode.

I had a chance to see it. In a flashback sequence, Gene Detoy, the owner/trainer of the chimps, told Jack he'd have to negotiate with them *personally* to appear on his TV show. While doing so, they make a "monkey" out of him.

The racist content was a bit shocking.

Yes, the politically incorrect days. As a great-gran I heard worse in the time of WW2.
