How to honour Steve?
Well, for me the least is to put some of my never before showed videos of him on my You Tube channel.
Steve was always special to me.
The first time I saw him, was in 1976 in Carré , Amsterdam.
And ever since, I saw him every time he was in the Netherlands, I even flew to Scotland to see him perform his first to albums with an orchestra in 2018. If it was about charism and interaction with the audience, of all the artists & bands I saw, in the end to me there were only two or three to me that raise above the others and Steve was one of therm.
Steve always interacted with his audience and except playing his songs, he was a storyteller which made you feel, you and he were together somewhere. It made him special and gave the concerts a personal touch, it made those concerts ones to remember.
This is what he himself once said during a concert said about performing :
‘Journalists asked me: well, you’re a certain age, why do you keep doing this?
I do it, because I can’t, not do it. The joy that we get from this, is indescribable. I can’t tell you what it is like. You reach a certain stage and you realise that it is actually really in your blood. It is in the blood stream, it is in the soul and to be up here.
Frankly, I wake up every morning - well apart for my family, I would put them first and I wish them all good health but after that, all I want from life, is an audience’.
I’ll miss him, rest in peace Steve.
