One thing we are doing is going down to one vehicle, I am retired and my husband still works so we don’t need 2 cars. If I need the car during the week I will just drive him to and from work. He works 5 minutes away from our house. This will save us so much money 😊
I have a very small income as I work for the NHS as a receptionist and I am not confident or ambitious enough to want the stress of a higher paid job so I have to cut back otherwise I wouldn’t have enough money to cover everything. I am a single Mum. I cut back by only having a house just big enough for my needs. This means rent, council tax, utilities are all much lower I don’t have any fancy tv packages however I do have internet! I only have a sim only phone contract I eat basic foods, cook double and freeze the other half so the following week my food bill is a lot less The car I run is small so it only costs £45 to fill up and that lasts me almost the month. The tax is also only £30 for the year and insurance is low I shop mostly second hand 😊
I have always preferred to be rich in time rather than rich in money. I find it easier to buy less & live a clutter free simple life than working more hours just to be able to buy more ‘stuff’. I’m happier & healthier now than I’ve ever been…..& not even money can buy that!
@@ThisEditedLife We suggest they break up the 750$ car payment in their budget to be 1/2 in the non-discretionary and 1/2 in the discretionary as 1/2 is the real need, and half is the want of the luxury aspect.
Created a budgeting spreadsheet last year and it has been super helpful as I now know exactly what I have to spend each month. The trick is to live within your means, and you'll never feel broke! I rarely buy new clothes, I tend to opt for thrift shops (or as we say in the UK, charity shops). My husband and I are in the third week of the 52 week saving challenge - which is a great way to build savings without really noticing!
For me it is important torememeber that any change is an experiment. A particular economy doesn't have to be forever, just trying it for a month to see if something I thought I "needed" actually is a need. I recently started my first ever no-buy (I am 68 so it is never too late). And it is easier than I thought because I realize that ever time I think I need X, that jsut for now I will be just fine if I wait for a few months and see if I really need it and if so what the best choice is.

That's great, what a saving! We can't go to one car at the moment but we'd certainly do it if we could!
Good plan!

Thanks so much for sharing - it sounds like you're keeping your costs more manageable 😊
Sounds like you’re doing an awesome job managing things! 😊

Very true! ☺️
Many overspend on the needs…. Buying an expensive vehicle over a base vehicle for example.
That's true - I know people who have purchased very expensive vehicles which they most definitely "needed'" 😉

Yes, the budgeting spreadsheet really helped me get control of my spending!

HI Jo, I prefer less B-roll (but that is just me).
Hey, thanks for your feedback. I will have to experiment - I worry that people will get bored of looking at my face too long 🤣
All great tips Jo! 👍🏻
Thank you so much! 😊
