Clockwork Waltz takes place in a fantasy/steampunk type world. Behind it is a story about two childhood friends who come from hardship. The first child turned all that negativity internally, but the second child hated the world for what it had done. Both were offered a chance to leave the hardship by a mysterious but wealthy figure, claiming they had something that he could not buy. The first child turned away from it, sensing deceit and not wanting a part of it. The second child knew it was a lie, but decided to take up the offer anyways.
Years later they meet again. The wrathful child had gained riches and wealth, but is now cursed to only exist before the dawn. They spend this time drawing in patrons to a beautiful party, not telling them that if they fail to leave before the dawn comes, they will cease to exist. The other child wants nothing more than to have their friend back. They enter in the party one hour before the dawn in the hopes of bringing back the wrathful one. But hatred is not so easily dropped, and their friend no longer wants to escape. Instead, the wrathful friend offers to dance, a final goodbye and a faint hope that they know they won't suffer alone.
