Great video, Lawrence. Samart is truly the greatest. He and Dany Bill are my two favorites.
cheers brotha
Yo yo yo what's up kenshin.thank you brother for uploading this video.excellent! and thanks bro.😀💥
Hey man, I have a huge favor/challenge. Hard 2 Hurt channel thinks he invented a new move. Here’s the video:
ua-cam.com/video/1vS6ts-jYcs/v-deo.html
I told him that I’ve seen Thai Fighters and Greko Roman wrestlers(Randy Couture) use the dirty boxing move. I already gave him examples of the cross-collar maneuver but I really don’t have as much footage of MT as you do. If you’re up to it, can you enlighten us on where the dirty boxing move originated from?
@Watson Wallace Anantasak was a savage!
As a professional translator (Thai and English) myself for nearly 30 years, I feel obliged to commend the one who translated this. Great choice of words. Concise and accurate. No single details lost in translation which is very hard to achieve.
Exceptional job indeed.
Thank you for your input. Particularly speaking on such a controversial topic with the potential for corruption such as deliberate ‘loss’ in translation, concise, direct and accurate translation is paramount. So few are in your position - to validate, or to counterfeit, the quality and accuracy of translation. So thank you, from the heart of a Westerner, but a real fan of the combat arts. Even those sadly lost to time and money. 🙏👍🏻👊🤝
met him at my gym. he did what he said here. all he did was teach us the basics for hour an half. It was an honor to meet this legend!
beautiful
which gym is it and was it affordable? Im thinking about going to Thailand too
i tried to do the alligator swing its tail and i fell down the stairs. lesson learn dont do it in a high place
@@SharkByteOfficial It's Samart Payakaroon gym located in Bangkok, Saimai. The price is affordable, around 15 USD per session (2 hours).
Masjedul reza omeo the (kid dynamite) would kill samartua-cam.com/users/shortsf0yMkdh6ZkM?si=M4Wb7Wunnc221I4v
That first 30 seconds when the guy transitioned to a spinning heel kick... he was so confident it wasn't connecting that he didn't even blink as the foot sailed by probably 1cm from his face
"you can teach them everything, but they must dare to use it in the ring.. those are the ones who become great"...
Word 💯
Most wonne becom rich .thats the story he tells
This is ahat shows champions in MMA and BJJ too. The competitor who confidently imposes his or her will is typically more dominant and threatening.
Grace Gundrum
Demetrious Johnson
Jose Aldo
Rose Namajunas
Kron Gracie
All these bad fighters (and many more) have had moments when their opponents aren't trying to beat them but are trying to not lose while the pressure mounts.
Love these documentaries. It’s a breath of fresh air how humble these great Thai fighters are, where as western boxers for instance are really big headed and constantly trash talk.
Indeed humility
The "big headedness" and smack talking are just part of the show. It is how to entice fans to get more involved.
@@SlickRick4EVER No, I think they are genuine. Professional boxing is unforgiving. Usually if you lose once, you become a nobody, and it's really hard to get back mentally as well because of the discouraging defeat.
I think to be a boxing champ you need crazy amounts of confidence. You need to believe you are the best in the world or have some other way of dealing with the pressure. That's why a lot of top boxers seem weird or like cocky jerks at first glance. Humility can lead to second guessing yourself and losing of confidence, and you will crumble under the pressure.
I'm Thai, and I know that this exists in Muay Thai as well. Every great Nak Muay is very confident, they just don't display it because it would be bad for their image in Thailand.
Conversely, it is often good for western boxers' image to display their confidence openly.
It is just a difference of culture. I don't think either are bad. I think the core values of fighters from every different combat sport are roughly the same.
Most Thai fighters if not all are humble men.
They started from the bottom
SlickRick4EVER it’s part of the show yeah but why not be like GGG or rocky marmorino and entertain in the ring. Rocky used to just say the words I will try my best, trained like a killer and the rest is history. Boxing is indeed a business rather than a path to greatness for most fighters.
I've never heard of this man until my cousin told me about him. This legend is an artist of combat.
true legend
Samart Payakaroon, my favorite and best ever Nak Muay! This video has more knowledge and wisdom than most of us ever learnt in school. Thank you for this Lawrence you really made me happy! 🙏🏼❤️
wow this guy is a real deal old school Muay Thai fighter legend, his the execution of his techniques combined with his distance and timing is simply phenomenal
unparalleled
Sylvie von Duuglas-Ittu prioritize the basics and she is always telling how important it is(all the golden era Thais sai the same thing) and it makes me so happy to see you making a video of the legendary Samart talking about it. Thank you so much for the beatiful work.
you want to talk about sylvie ?
write to me .
i have lots i can say .
i am deep clinch !!!
I had the privilege of training under this legend. It was an experience that I will never forget. Thank you all that you have taught me Samart Payakaroon.
thats awesome
Having that mad extra drive takes natural talent too. It's what seperates all time greats/champions from the usual hard work. Floyd's motto of hard work and dedication applies to all of us but that ultra-instinct in the ring and being overly competitive that's just a handfull of them. Not to mention his work ethic is not simple hard work, it's training with obsession (from mastering basics day in day ouy, conditioning, strategy) and it takes natural talent/genes too to tap that gear too. Samart is just being honest, either you have IT or you don't.
Thanks for this one Lawrence Kenshin! Legend!
true so true but even Mayweather has benefited from "gambling" his controversial wins over Castillio, De La Hoya, Maidana and Judah( should have been DQd when trainer entered the ring before the round was over)
No I don't think the drive or work ethic is a talent per se, or if it is it's a separate one from being talented at must Thai or whatever it is. That can be taught
@@joesheridan9451 its not a gift or talent its better over time it can improve a person far more than just being: talented/gifted with out the work ethic. The true wonders are the happy combo of both work and gifts, but they are rare. When gifted or naturally more skilled its easy to fall into not having to try as hard because they can so often people talents get squandered.
Actually, that's pretty unhealthy.
Samart is simply the greatest champion of Muay Thai and I respect him a lot. This man is the spirit of true muay Thai. Also I can say he was a great champion in traditional boxe.
Great video thank you.
yes amazing spirit
Khun Samart, a true legend, both inside AND outside the ring... What an inspiration.!!
Yeah Sir! This is what I really wanted!
Unfortunately there's no many channels who makes the same on my language. Many people don't know about Gold Age of muay thai, about greatest fighters, about that fame. Thank you for this video!
I had the honor of spending a few weeks at Samart's camp. So true what he said about basics. He was insistent on teaching basic steps, punches and kicks in a way that really reminded me of karate or TKD. It was a very different experience from other camps where trainers gave you a hard workout on pads. You can really tell Samart's passion and dedication to pass on his country's martial art...
Keep the beautiful art and lineage of muay Thai pure and let the knowledge be passed down generations after generations.
The greatest stand up fighter period of all time!
And I thought I knew everything about Samart. This is just another level. Thank you for the upload.
9:41 Damn, that's a really young looking Yodtong Senanan on the left
So true! The art of Muay Thai seems lost, as the gamblers have almost destroyed it. I completely agree! Excellent video. Always enjoyed watching, highlights, of Samart. Keep up the great content! Thank you MUCH. Ciao. From Venice, Florida, USA...
no !
when they did away with tai na .
the sport when down !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
he just flows in the ring... it is really an art...
No matter how high level you are in any sport. Basic fundamentals never go wrong with.
Samart, somrack, saenchai, lerdsila... Muay thai is beautiful !
Such a well spoken person🙏
I will try to inherite and integrate those qualities/wisdom you shared with us Sir especially the Humanity part.
Thank you Legendary Samart Payakaroon.
Hope to meet you one day🙏
That made me scared shitless when he said that no one teaches real skills now, just plain ol clinching and power shots
It's kind of sad to see a great artist like him talk about the death of the art that made him who he is today. When someone like him acknowledges flaws in the way Muay Thai is handled today, the system really needs to be fixed.
there's beauty in it too
It’s been so long since those Thai legends who were in the same golden era. We don’t have any boxers holding the belts in our country anymore 🥲
Please keep up with the documentaries. These are the only way we ‘farang’ can learn these stories. And they are incredible.
6:11 One of my favorite teeps I've ever seen
And a big ❤ is important
I like your description. Very much in-depth knowledge. Bravo.
Hope all is well on your side Lawrence. Take care dude. Stay healthy.
"Basica are the most important" and that ladies and gentlemen is why he is the goat
Legend with no equal
On the streets there are players but only one King!
number one legend 😍😍😍😍😍😍
not only MuayThai fighter he also be a good singer.
Talented AND extremely handsome
how did you get this translation?
It is very accurate with the idea of what he was talking.
Samart is brutal as hell.😉👍👍👍
🙏
@@LawrenceKenshin likewise as well my brother.
Legend
now to the Nak Muay Nation listen to what this legend CLEARLY states and that is you arent seeing true Muay Thai anymore that its about gambling so you guys that always say " you dont know the scoring system of MT" apparently they dont know either lol he clearly says the farangs will be beating the Thais in 5+ years at their own game now thats BS but still you get what he is saying lol
Bitsize interview but tons of insights. Thanks a lot.
Should do a clip on Somsong, another legend.
Cheers
Great video.
Legend 🇹🇭
What is the name of his gym that he is a trainer at?
Cool video.. just shows that it is much more than just fighting!
Finally!
So soo samaart na khap
¿Why Samart never fought Sagat or Coban?
The best of time!
Wow.
I never knew.
Samart the legend.
Dude looked like Ryan Higa on the thumbnail
GOAT
Dude's like the most well preserved 57yo martial artist ever lol
Indeed he is
baby faced life long !
Where is samarts gym located?
Samart said this so many times, sadly Muay thai's future in thailand will not change shortly. It maybe worse by the new law that will not allow kid compete in the rings.
Holy cow, I did know there was gambling in Muay Thai but not at the level Samart describe to us
You simply cannot teach heart and true warrior.
someone needs to teach us how the make bets and gamble.
what about them hand signals ??
🙏🙏🙏
Would you consider him as a Muay Femur style fighter?
He is 100% a muay femur.
Hopefully a stand is made an things change an a rebirth of the golden age comes. The platinum age maybe haha. I've heard alot of golden era fighters say same thing as pi samart an other knowledgeable people like rob cox. So so many great great fighters back then. No where near as many nowadays. Losing the art is a crying shame. Money 💰 again the root of evil. Greedy gamblers an greedy promoters ruining the art an sport. Fighters fighting there hearts out an getting robbed coz of gamblers influences. Its a hard enough sport as it is. But losing the beauty an techniques of it is criminal. Trainers deserve alot of respect there passing on knowledge an passing on a gift. I pray for the art of muay thai
I like his name 'payakaroon' this mean Dawn Tiger
Samart in my eyes is the greatest.
06:35 is that an exhibition?
i caught that too lol
♥️♥️🙏
Dark side of Muay Thai
your sound is like matthew paul dean
Haha
Muito sábio samart
With due respect..samrat is also legend like Ali, Tyson..but he is not famous like them.. please, make a video on that..
this is due to the others being american and nothing else imo
The gamblers fucked it all up
for this reason as the teacher can say Therefore, Muay Thai has declined. People don't want to watch boxing. But luckily, Muay Thai went to prosper overseas instead. There are many very talented foreign boxers. Better than Thai people in the near future Thai people will definitely go to learn Muay Thai from foreigners.
