Iceland is hands down one of my favourite countries to explore and capture.
Having visited a few years ago and already made a traditional travel video, this time I wanted to focus solely on the elements and the landscapes of Iceland. That meant concentrating on water, lava, the wind, and anything nature-related with the least human interaction and impact possible.
During this trip I was fortunate enough to also make one of my dreams come true - to see and capture an active volcano with lava flows. An incredible experience that I will never forget.
Iceland has once again been incredible, it also turned out to be my first proper solo trip.
I hope this video transports you there and can make you feel what I’ve experienced during that week.

Iceland has once again been incredible!!
Have you had to chance to visit yet?
Cheers,
Flo
Mordor has never been this beautiful before... 👌👏👏
Haha love this comment !! Thank you :)
This piece has a heart and soul. Stunning footage, incredible sound design. Always a pleasure to watch your work!
Thank you so much guys, really means a lot !! So glad we were able to collaborate on this, such an interesting project :)
I discovered your channel since I bought a blackmagic last year.
You have a wonderful feel for editing and filming! Thank you for these 6 minutes of pure beauty.
Thank you so much for the kind words, really glad you've enjoyed it !! :)
Beautiful work as always. Song selection is so important and works so well!
Thank you for the nice feedback !!
Flo, all I can say is you flat NAILED this one. Very nice work.
Thanks so much !! Happy to hear :)
Magnifique !
Plein de souvenirs de cet été.
Merci, l'Islande est tellement incroyable!!
The lava shots are amazing! I'll join next time :)
Haha for sure !! Thanks :)
i'm coming too!
The fact that you’re giving away this level of quality footage for free here on UA-cam is astonishing. Well done! I was entranced the entirety of the video. Most of these shots, if not all of them, look like they came straight out of a feature film. The fact that this footage came from the 6k Pro and a drone is amazing! What a time to be a filmmaker!
Thank you so much, really means a lot !! Iceland cannot look bad I think haha :)
Incredible! I usually don't get impressed by nature shots, but your work blew me away! Thank you for sharing 😊
Thank you so much for the kind words !! Glad you like it :)
Absolutely beautiful man. Didn't get the chance to explore too much when I went and now I know I absolutely need to go back, ha! Wonderful images and edit!
Thanks so much mate, means a lot coming from you !! Iceland was already amazing but add an active volcano and it becomes perfect haha :)
This is truly a master piece of art. Thanks a lot for sharing.
Thanks a lot man, appreciate you taking the time to watch it :)!!
Just wow. This has to be my favorite film of yours. Keep doing what you love. Very Inspirational!
Thanks so much for saying this man !!
sound effects are so incredible.
Glad you liked it, thank you !!
Brilliantly put together and some amazing footage of the Volcano!
Thanks a lot :) !!
Stunning shots, this is a poetry: it's a perfect combination between footage and sound design. Incredible video, as usual.
Got to be one of your best yet! Those lava shots were fascinating.
Thanks so much Sam !!
absolutely breathtaking
Thanks a lot !!
Flo. . .wow, so emotional for me watching, the soundtrack was spot on. As always your footage is spectacular, mesmerising and incredible. Thank you for sharing, I may get back there one day, love us
Thank you so much for the kind words Bronwyn, means a lot !! I hope you guys are well x
Breathtaking! Thank you for sharing!!!
Thank you for watching !! :)
What an amazing flying.... Great..!!!
Thank you!!
I've watched a lot of footage of the "baby volcano" recently, and a lot of footage of Iceland over the years. You've managed to capture some new shots and new perspectives on both. But more importantly, you've combined them to provide context for each other. Seeing the results of millions of years of lava flows in the rocks, then seeing it being created, then seeing it being eroded by the sea. That context brings so much more to the footage of the lava!
Thank you for watching and for your take on it Thomas, glad you've enjoyed it !! I felt very small watching the lava flows and mother nature at work. What a humbling sight it was !!
What a beautiful & enchanting piece. Feels like you're always in exactly the right place at the right time. Nice man!
Really glad you liked it, thank you !!
So surreal! Iceland is officially on the bucket list. You captured all 3 elements so beautifully - and the drone shots over lava were DEFINITELY worth it!
Thanks so much my man !! Maybe we should go when you visit :). And yeah haha, I was ready to let it crash and burn for these!!
Awesome mood and grading, exactly how I like it. Best from Germany
Thank you, so glad you liked it :) !!
Amazing! Iceland is so alien it looks like something from middle earth!
Beautiful work as always Flo
Thanks so much !! I always appreciate a comment with anything LOTR related :)
Really nice work as always Flo, Iceland looks so beautiful!
Thanks man, means a lot !!
It's beautiful man! I love the contrast between lava, ice and water. Congrats!!
Thanks so much man, glad you liked it :) !!
Holy shit! That was AMAZING. Can only dream of shooting stuff this good.
Haha, thanks !! Iceland makes shooting easy :)
Spectacular as always! 🙌
Thanks very much :) !!
I really like the way you changed the order of telephoto and closeup shots to lead into different clips. What a pro job!
Mike
Thank you Mike !!
Really breathtaking and great music track 👌🏼
Thanks very much :) !!
I've been a fan of your work for a while now but this video has it all mate. Absolutely stunning, you have a real talent in capturing the most moving moments, really inspiring. This is the filmmaking I aspire to create at some point, thank you for all your incredible input!
Thanks a lot for the positive feedback, it makes me so happy to read this !! Glad my work can inspire you a little :)
Well done man. Felt like I became absorbed within the theme and concept after about 3mins, a trancelike experience. Love the way you cut between scenery, lines and colours. Such a neat piece of art!
Thank you for taking the time to watch it and for the positive / detailed feedback :) !!
Amazing! Just brilliant.
Thanks a lot !!
How did you get about, did you rent a car? I'm finally going in January for a few short days and hoping to get out of Reykjavik for a night or two and hopefully capture some Northern Lights, lava, etc :) Any recommendations on the best spots ideally on the south coast and within a few hrs reach of the city? :) Once again, amazing video :)
Thanks!! And yes, I did rent a car. I highly recommend doing so. This was my second time and I only stayed in the south instead of going all around. For only a few days I would stay between Reykjavik and the Vatnajokull National park. That way you can see Skogafoss, Vik with the black sand beach as well as Jokulsarlon and the glaciers. I also recommend Gullfoss not far from Reykjavik. Have fun ☺️
Absolutely brilliant!!
Thanks very much !!
so beautiful and relaxing to watch! love how it turned out :)
Thanks so much Giulia, means a lot coming from you :) Can't wait to watch your Iceland video as well!
Silent and Wonderful
Thank you!
This is the most beautiful and most incredible thing you have ever filmed!! Beautifully edited as well.
(You may need a future video: ‘How to fly a drone over a volcano without crashing it.’ Not sure how you deal with sudden thermals like that).
I’m in awe after watching this! Thank you! You’re a true artist.
Thank you so much for the kind words !!
I am working on a few BTS video so I definitely talk about flying the drone there :).
Thanks again for watching :)
Incredible footage and sound design. Nice job!
Thank you so much, glad you like it :) !!
I love the look of the 6k pro! it has such a pretty image
It really does :)
@@OfTwoLands got mine a couple months back and haven’t used it as extensively as i wish, but i’m always so happy to use it and love the image i get from it! definitely a huge step up quality wise from an SL1 haha
Amazing work! Nice one, mate! I bet you had a great time there!
I really did :) Thanks for watching !!
Literally awesome 🙂🙂 whenever I watch it feeling better 😉 thanks mate 😊😊
So good to hear, thank you :) !!
Beautiful work as always!
Thank you :)
it is so calm !!!!
In a good way haha ?
@@OfTwoLands hahaha of course
This. Is. Spectacular!
It gave me goosebumps. Totally envious - wish I had shot these... ;-)
Thanks for sharing. Looks like you had a gorgeous trip.
Cheers, mate!

@@OfTwoLands Hiking Patagonia, cycling Tuscany, and now... Iceland.
My Bucket List keeps getting longer!
Again, amazing captures. Just spectacular footage. Love your style.
Best, J
What a treat! Do i dare saying I like it more than the Antarctica video? Keep it up man!
Thanks man !! Haha I was actually comparing to two myself yesterday. I think Antarctica has that remote location element to it, and of course amazing wildlife. But volcanoes and crazy waterfalls are hard to beat though :).
very nice! 👍
Thanks !!
Stunning footage and I love the sound effects, especially of the ice shifting and breaking. This really takes you on a beautiful journey! Sadly I had a trip planned to Iceland for the end of last year and then all the crazyness happened, being based in Australia I'm unable to get there now. You're so lucky to be able to travel! Thanks for sharing!
Glad you do, thank you !! I completely understand how you feel, leaving Australia was so complicated for us last year and even here in France we were in lockdown for months. This was my first trip in 13 months. Looks like Australia will open up again later this year :). Fingers crossed, we also want to see our family and friends. Take care.
@@OfTwoLands I can imagine leaving Aus must have been really difficult, I'm glad you were able to make it to Iceland! Hopefully you can get to Australia soon to visit your family as well. Look forward to seeing more of your content, thanks!
To the people who hit the thumbs down, you have no idea how beautiful this is 🙌🏻 Amazing work mate
Haha thanks, appreciate it :) !!
This is stunning dude 😍
Thanks so much mate, hope you are well! Missing the Sydney crew :)
So beautiful!👌
Thank you ☺️
Gorgeous
Thanks!!
Great work Flo! The photography is breathtaking. I definitely hope I get the chance to visit Iceland someday :)
Thank you so much !! Really hope you get the chance, what a beautiful place it is :)
Beautiful work
Thank you :) !!
epic volcano shots!
Thanks so much!!
Damn these lava shots are insane.
Thanks !! I still can’t believe I was there in person haha. Risky with the drone and the heat but worth it. Glad you like them :)
great job! love your style. i have to make mine from iceland, also got amazing shots of the volcano and its amazing to see how fast it changes and gives different textures. pure nature
Thank you :) The volcano is one of the most amazing things I have ever seen or captured !! Still can't believe it haha.
This is really beautiful man!
Thank you so much man !!
Florent, wow. I believe the previous comments said it already how amazing your video is. I just can guess how much work that was. Thank you so much for your time. You can be proud of your self being a very cool videographer. Maybe it’s just me but I very appreciate your being on UA-cam with your non-narcissistic, down-to-earth & authentic video-content which makes you very sympathetic 🙂 Very inspiring.
Anyway - I’ve two questions:
1) Do you plan to release a making of? (please do :D )
2) Why don’t you (?) never do time-lapse things?
Thanks a lot for the kind words and positive feedback man, it means a lot !! I try my best to be authentic :)
To answer your questions :
1 - Yes, I am working on a cinematography breakdown as well as explaining how I did the sound design.
2 - I do sometimes but very rarely and is usually about the sun rising or clouds moving just to add a bit of movement to the piece.
Thanks!
Thank you for watching :)
Magnificent! You were able to capture a piece of the "AWE of GOD" in just a few moments. Tremendous work my friend.
Thanks very much for the kind words !!
Wow, that was conceptually beautiful and so thoughtfully woven together. No idea how you managed to match all that footage so well, to my eye, anyway.
UA-cam's awful compression algo is about the only negative there. Despite, really beautiful.
Thank you so much for the positive feedback!!
I also uploaded it on Vimeo for better quality :).
Ca défonce !
Haha merci :) !!
@@OfTwoLands Surtout merci à toi de nous partager toutes ces images ! Je m'abonne.
fantastic!
Thank you!!
Where did you find the wonderful soundfx for the waterfalls? I tried looking on artlist and can’t find any good ones
All the SFX come from Artlist :).
Man, such a beautiful put together piece of work. The music and the shots have a crazy good vibe. Much love from East Tennessee🙏🏼
Thanks so much for the positive feedback man !! Have a great day :)
Magnifique !!
Merci :) !!
Dude. This took me back to our roadtrip to Iceland 2 years ago. So many shots feel similar to those I used in my film :) Love the raw feeling of your footage, it really captures what this country is all about. Hope to be able to check the volcano out when we go back next month!
Thank you man !! I love Iceland so much.
Fingers crossed you get to see the volcano, truly incredible :)
Incredible work mate 👏🏻❤️
Thanks so much !!
I love it!!
will you make a stills photography compilation book? I will definitely purchase if you do!
thankk you for this beautiful work!
So glad you do, thank you !!
I will definitely do prints and maybe a book later one yes :)
@@OfTwoLands yess! Thank you! Looking forward to it! 😆
thanks..
Thank you for watching :)
magnifique ta vidéo .. beau boulot
Merci beaucoup ☺️🙏!!
Merci d avance

We "lava" this footage!
Haha nice one guys, thank you !!
❤️❤️❤️
:)
It’s a strange landscape! But very attractive and I got that feeling when watching it. Great job behind all this!! Nice for me to watch at the breakfast. I haven’t been there yet. Looks like you got some sun there, where you just lucky or does it usually peek through now and then?
Thank you, glad you liked it !! And I had one day of sunny weather and the rest was chaos haha, doesn't look like it but I had 3 days of extreme wind and pouring rain. I had to cancel a lot of locations. Just had to plan around but it's Iceland so pretty normal haha. I had better weather during my first visit years ago.
@@OfTwoLands Ohh, that rough! Well you came out with stellar footage!! Thanks again for sharing and putting it together for us!
Just awesome Flo. We spend a lot of time on the Isle of Skye and this is like Skye on steroids... Interested to know if the P6K footage was shot on your Contax Zeiss or other lenses?
Thanks man !! All the gear I used is in the description, I only used Canon zoom lenses this time :).
Ive been there 5 years ago :) made soms HD shots with a compact camera lol
I was there 6 years ago the first time, shot everything in 1080 :).
@@OfTwoLands lol haha
Amazing :)
Thank you :)
What compression rate do you use?
This was BRAW Q5 :)
Hi, what's the best affordable cameras? I want to do something like this but I don't have the money for the cameras you show, is there any affordable choice, I know is not going to be as good but a good one
Dude this was fucking epic 👌
Haha thanks so much man, glad you liked it !!
Zen
:)
What?! No vintage lenses? I am out of here...
Haha !! I don't think vintage lenses would have agreed with the Icelandic weather :)
Eh ben P*TAIN 😳
