      Thanks for great broadcast, Ellie!
Next summer (2025) Rocket Lab will be doing its maiden launch of its upcoming Neutron rocket out of Wallops Island, Virginia. Hope you might consider covering that in person too, because Neutron has its own very spectacular advanced technology, which I bet Joe would love to give explanations on.

Seeing Ellie crouch in fear at the sheer volume of sound was not only really cute, it was a great demonstration of the forces involved in getting that ship off the ground.
    Well done Ellie and Joe,.
As for Spacex ... They are almost beyond congratulations and into the realm of mystical engineering.
    Altogether, a superb sight.

Its incredible Ship 29 was able to survive and do flip and burn with so much flap damage. Now SpaceX knows where to make improvements.
I still believe they should get another successful simulated booster catch in the Ocean before a real catch attempt.

@@tedmoss there is no good reason to risk stage zero right now, they can do another simulated catch attempt at sea and with the "chopsticks" on stage zero and get more data
but right now if anything went wrong and stage zero was damaged it would cost months..better to wait until tower 2 is ready then start attempting catches

First to show a live feed from a vehicle going through the plasma part of a re-entry. First second stage rocket (not delta wing shuttle or small delta wing) to potentially be able to be re-used after re-entry. First rocket to use flaps to control it's decent from sub-orbit. But to be specific, the first rocket company to launch a vehicle, larger than any other rocket ever made and designed for re-usability. They just Super Steamrolled every other large rocket manufacturer. The writing is just starting to become visible on the wall. Once SpaceX catch the first Booster, the writing will spell Game Over to expendable space rockets. There are other new companies focusing on re-usable stages that will find niche markets, but they will be smaller payload delivery systems.

I want to add to Joe's comments about how important this flight was. It was critical that the ship survived to send data through as much of a stable reentry as possible, especially that key heating regime between 16,000 and 14,000 km/h. And the fact that it is so unbelievably tough that it can go all B-17 and survive being shot full of holes on control surfaces is nothing to sneeze at, either.

I think they will attempt a beast catch on the sixth flight. It’s being because they lost one engine on the inner 13 during the landing burn.
They also lost an engine 4 seconds after takeoff in the out of 20 .

Eight former SpaceX employees are suing the company and its founder and CEO, Elon Musk, alleging sexual harassment and whistleblower retaliation, among other wrongdoing.
In June 2022, the eight employees helped distribute an open letter to SpaceX executives that decried Musk's behavior and the purported negative impact it has had on the company and its workplace culture.
"SpaceX summarily terminated them for daring to seek changes that would simply align the workplace culture with the norms of legal civility as defined by state and federal law," states the lawsuit, which was filed Wednesday (June 12) in California state court in Los Angeles. (SpaceX is headquartered in Hawthorne, a city in the L.A. metro area.)
"Upon information and belief, Defendant Musk personally ordered the Plaintiffs' terminations," the 76-page document adds. "This action seeks to hold SpaceX and Musk personally accountable for their gross misconduct."

I loved the images and the narrative with the detailed explanation of everything he heard when the pineapple fell into the sea. And the solutions that Elon Musk is already thinking about for the next launch, and how successful the entire launch was despite this small event. This sweet and great Being is really transforming our planet and building our future, isn't it? It's moving to see that a teenager dreamed of technology, without imagining that there would be so many developments in what seemed random, and became a wise adult man, a humanitarian, aware of the need for progress and improvements in the lives of all humanity, thinking about our progress, and doing all this without losing his humanity, joy, good humor, and making his inner child laugh heartily and unmissably with everything, with each achievement celebrated, and even with his little son, who seems to be his cute little companion, and who knows, his future co-pilot. (Ahahahah, they're so cute, and they look so much alike!). A great and sweet Being, he never loses his own sense of humility, because being God the creator (as all humanity is, whether conscious of it or not) he is always an eternal apprentice and cosmic wanderer, and for that reason so adorable. And as for account identity theft, I fear that my UA-cam account may already be cloned, or have a copy, all by the same black magician, and Hacker from the south of France who did this to several of my friends with UA-cam channels, and being public figures suffered the same on their Facebook and Instagram accounts, since this man started stalking me, and my husband (who had his life lost at the hands of this man, who tried the same thing with me several times, and the last time I was in a deep hospital coma in Europe, resulting in loss of memory and identity for almost a year), and he still hasn't given up either here or on X. And that's why I avoid logging into my account on X, because I only do it through my PC, which was violated by him, who wants to capture my IP, and does the same with everyone I follow here, and on X, wherever I am. So, since he wants to ban me from the internet because he has known for 8 years that I have had a mission on the internet, to find my soul family, and to be found by them, and by my Soulmate, and he already knows the meaning and importance of these Souls in the world, and he read my entire explanation about them on my husband's UA-cam channel, and my interviews on his accounts, as he was a doctor, and a well-known public figure, he wants to prevent all this from happening, and he has a network of collaborators in Support of all platforms, on all Continents - because he works for the Cabal (maybe he doesn't even know the meaning of Cabal or Soulmates, right? Laughs, never mind). It was positive to have revealed this attempt to steal your identity here, Ellie, because this is happening all the time, and I have avoided following people, because this man follows everyone I follow, studies the behavior of the people I follow, and starts interacting with them, and creating "bonds" of trust, and that is why I also avoid creating bonds with people, because I no longer trust anyone, because before I had the protection of my husband who was like me, a psychopath, and detected his trail, and those of his followers even with fake profiles, as he uses thousands of them too, and thus harms them, and I do not want to be the "bearer" of sadness for anyone because of this. Congratulations on the coverage of the launch, it was wonderful, and you work very well in covering external matters. Thank you, you are very charismatic. 👏👏👏👏💝❤️💝🌟🫴🌹💥🚀🗽☺️

That flap (small wing) just barely sufficed. Barely. They'll either: ditch the wings and go with thrusters, or modify the design substantially to deflect the atmospheric forces more fully.
This is not the design that will be ready for re-launch "rapidly".
Shuttle and the first 3 Starships taught us that the atmosphere is where space ships fail.

I've seen quite a few comments over the years that indicate some people think SpaceX have a somewhat cavalier approach, but nothing could be further from the truth. SpaceX does more testing and validation of components than any other outfit. Every engine is tested multiple times prior to launch, first at McGregor and again after integration.

My advice for viewers from watching this one from SPI, put the social media down *5 minutes* before T0 and enjoy watching with your eyes. The rocket went quickly into a low cloud, and those depending on Tim or other streams to look missed it, because of the delay. The fog made water suppression not visible, so all we could see was the flames, from start up to when the rocket went into that low cloud. The 28+ second delay (I was 10.3km away, Ellie was some 9.8km) Meant the the sound got to us kinda late. Only reason I saw it is my son yelled "I see flames", when the stream was far from that happening.

My advice for you is to remember that nit everyone can be there in person. So, maybe put away the twatwaffle personality for a moment and STFU.

Question: Though they will not be reused, will the 2 vehicles from today's test launch be recovered since they made it back (mostly) in-tact? I presume they will both float for quite a long time and surely SpaceX knows exactly where they are, are ships on their way to them? Surely we don't want to let anybody else recover them.... right? 😕

Loved the horses : such a contrast between old and new.

Q: Why can't people go take a ride in space-x boosters taking stuff to space regularly. It is not because of the mass or equipment to keep person breathing. Is it the G's? Or just regulatory hassle? At this point, I would take the ride.

Ellie, is the expense for these test launches funded 100% from SpaceX? Does SX get any federal funding?

      All self-funded.

I find it amusing Ellie is nervous about taking a helicopter flight over Starbase but not riding a horse over the dunes lol . Would be the other way round for me! Great job ! Amazing Space X allows such close access to the pad area shortly prior to the flight preparations. That has to be a surreal experience!

It looked like the nozzles were keeping starship oriented without moving flaps, so just make flaps stationary.

From the sounds it seems like Starship rocket launch is more violent with the more powerful engines compared with Falcon 9!

It is truly amazing how their prototyping process makes a dream come to life one step at a time. As an engineer it amazes me this design build process is revolutionizing space exploration and the access to space industry as a whole. I’m not a fan of Elan’s politics. But one must recognize the genius of revolutionary projects. As a pioneer, he is showing technology can be improved by later generations of entrepreneurs everywhere.
