  • Here is a video I made of the Auto Train ride southbound on P053. The Auto Train is a nonstop train ran by Amtrak that carries passengers and their cars between Lorton, VA and Sanford, FL. It is considered a prermier service as it's known for carrying cars. The train consisted of a total of 14 Superliners and 21 Auto Racks. This many cars makes the train almost 3/4 a mile long.
Currently as of late 2020, this is the only daily operating long distance Amtrak train on the long distance network during the pandemic. Traiditional Dining also remained on the train whilst every other route has made the temporary switch to Flexible Dining. The train goes by several noteable spots inlucding Ashland, Richmond, Feteyville, Folkston, and Jacksonville before reaching Sanford.
839 miles of right of way the Auto Train runs on is owned by CSX Transportation while 16 miles of it is owned by CFRC (SunRail), totalling at 855 miles. The Lines the Auto Train runs are are the RF&P Sub, the CSX A Line, and the Central Florida Rail Corridor (also known as the CFRC A Line).
