#77 FUNGUS KILLING MY SUCCULENT STEMS How to save a succulent from dying and symptoms to look for
Вставка
- Опубліковано 10 чер 2021
- In this video, I show you guys how to save a succulent from dying by knowing what signs to look for. It looks like overwatering from too much rain caused one of the succulents to die, and the other from some type of succulent fungus. There are different ways fungus could enter succulent stems, as is shown in the video. I show you exactly what signs to look for and what to do is you find fungus or overwatered succulents in your garden.

This is exactly the kind of video that every beginner needs to watch. I know I’ve said it to you before, but I was never able to find anything like this when I started and it would have been so helpful!
Thanks for the video and your time!
Aww... thank you so much for appreciating my videos! You are so kind. 🥰 Comments like this are what encourage me to make more content. 💚
For me Christine ,,, you are the succulents Doctor … you checked the signs and symptoms of rotting and dying of this precious
plants,,, love 💕 love 💕 the way you explained everything, how to treat them and how to save this succulents.
As we are plants lover, we really need to learn and it’s highly appreciated on my part every time you give us lessons on how to handle this problems . Thank you dear for sharing 💕💕💕💕💕🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
This is such a wonderful comment Jonah! Thank you! I try my best to save them and try to demonstrate and explain what to do for those of us that are just starting the journey. I remember when I had no idea what to do as a beginner. Unfortunately, we can't always prevent them from rotting due to weather or bugs, but at least we can learn to save them. Thanks again my friend! 💚

Aww... thanks Jonah! 💚
Wow beautiful planters dear friend ❤️👍
Thank you 😊
Stem rots are the worst for me... especially when babies are growing on them. Glad you caught them.
Kuddos to your little helper, Chanel ❤
Oh I know! There were so many babies on the stem already too that I couldn't save 😭 Our rains and crazy heat is just really brutal sometimes. I guess both just were not ready for full on sun and rain in the open yet. The rest of my outdoor succs that have been out for years are all used to it.
nice sharing beautiful plants
Thank you 😊
I feel you Christine, especially if you have so many,We do what we can to save them.good thing you caught it and be able to saved it!! good job👍😊💛🧡💚
Yes, I absolutely agree, we don't catch it as early as we'd like when we have so many of them to care for. As much as I would love to just have them indoors under my grow lights so I can watch them closely everyday, I don't have enough space. But as long as we can save them, that's good enough. Thanks so much for stopping by Marie! 💚
@@TheseSucculentBuddies Always Welcome Christine!!❤
*Like 21, Very valuable information 👏👏👏*
Thanks so much for stopping by and watching Mandi! 😊💚
thanks for sharing ideas on how to save succulents from fungus
You are always welcome. 😊
I like it very much! amazing video
Encountered so many stem rot maybe because of overwatering or early watering after re-potting. Thanks for this video, very helpful and informative. Ants and rain gives me headache this week 😫
I hate any bugs or ants on my plants. But we can't control what happens in nature. 😔 Hopefully it all works out for your succulent babies and we don't encounter anymore rot this year.
Very helpful, thumbs up 👍 and 100 💯 awesome 😎
Thank you! 💚
Hi Maam.. am here... yahoo..

It's right dear for healthy growth of plant. Thanks see you again. 🙂
Thank you 😊
Thanks for sharing! Recently lost a Graptopetalum paraguayense (Ghost Plant) due to root rot which was shooting off aerial roots for a while. Now I know to pay more attention to what aerial roots might be indicating. Saved some leaves and a part of the crown from the rotten plant. Hopefully, they'll take root.
Oh I hope they take root! Thankfully, paraguayense recovers pretty well and propagates easily too! I hope they all grow multiple headed babies for you! Thanks so much for stopping by and watching and good luck with your succulent babies! 😊💚
Hello, great Job!

Glad you were able to save them.
Crossing my fingers I was able to rid of all the rot and they root in the next few weeks. I'll shoot a video for an update in about a month or 2. 😊
@@TheseSucculentBuddies I hope so t0!
I really hate Stem & Root Rots 😒 but I always tried to save them.. some of them didn't survive & some of them recovers when I removed the affected part. I usually ended up to propa their leaves.
Ty for sharing this video & happy planting? 👍🌱
Yes, we all have to deal with rot every now and then unfortunately. 😕 But as long as we know how to save them, and know what signs to look for, we learn each and every time. Sometimes we even end up with more, just smaller ones though from the leaf props right! 😉💚
Sometimes, it happened 😞 Nice thing is to find ways to save it. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, it can't be avoided especially when our succulents are outdoors. I don't notice right away anymore because I have so many in the garden. Thankfully I caught these in time. 🤞🤞🤞 I hope they root in a few weeks.
This is the worst enemy for my succulent 😭 its spread really fast and they lost so much leaves just in few days/week, some people say it was fungus because of humidity but until today i still dont know the effective way to get rid this problem foreverrrr
Unfortunately, even after years and years of experience, we all have to deal with succulent rot from time to time. The best we can do is learn how to save them and then do better next time. Thanks so much for stopping by and watching and good luck with your succulents! 😊💚
thanks for sharing friend
Thanks so much for stopping by and watching 😊
Oh my god the Violacina im glad you caught it on time. Hopefully it will survive, I hate this thing that happened to me as well specially when its raining a lot. The ants is a sign of mealy bugs too, they come after them
That's the thing, I don't have any mealies at all. But I did find some brown little bugs in the soil. I think they may be fungus gnats from all the heat and humidity since the soil is not drying properly from daily rains followed by high heat. I hate bugs! 😫😤🥺
Sukulentler ile uğraşmak çok zevkli 👍👍👍❤️❤️
Thank you 😊
Nice video ❤️

Your daughter is adorable! She's so excited to help it melts my ❤... she reminds me of when my daughters were little, they're cranky teenagers now 😬😟ahhhh. Thanks for the vid it helps a lot. I have a few issues with mine that have me stumped. I can't find anything online that matches, can I send u pics to your fb?
Yes, you can send me pics on FB or Instagram! Just find these succulent buddies FB page and send me a DM. I'll be glad to help when I have time. 😊
Hello new friend, how are you? great video, thank you for sharing.
Thank you 😊
Love your videos and your daughters little comments..so adorable!
Can you please tell me what type of fungicide do you recommend?
I use a fungicide called Daconil by Garden Tech from my local Home Depot. Comes in a red plastic spray bottle in liquid form. I just apply it on the stem. If it's not too late and the fungus hasn't spread, it's very effective in stopping it and getting rid of it. Just make sure not expose to sunlight for 48 hours after application. Works well too on white fungus that sometimes grows on top of soil when it's been wet for too long. I mix it in the water when I water my succulents every few months. 😊
Hi Christine and Chanel 😊
Hello Karen! 🤗🤗🤗
Same thing happened to my lovely rose. Summer is now over and here comes the rainy days. Maybe my succulents are adjusting with the transition period.
Aww... the lovely roses you had in one pot? 😔 I hope they do ok. I have some lovely roses that passed on, but it was because of shipping trauma. This is my 1st year with them. 🤞 hope they thrive.
@@TheseSucculentBuddies yes 😥 i cut one stem for propagation then placed the pot in shade for a week due to intermittent rain and then when i put it out in the shade, they started rotting one by one. I still have two or three that are still alive. Hope they make it.
Oh no... I can't say much for how they do outdoors with all the heat and humidity coz I kept them under my lights. But I think that may have been the problem for you. They don't seem to like a lot of humidity and heat combined. I noticed they are sensitive to change and being moved. I moved 2 pots that had 3 each in them, from 1 brand of grow light to another, and 1 rotted from each pot. The others loss a few bottom leaves during transition.
Hello Channel!
Hello!
Maybe due to over watering? Hope they can thrive back,. Same problem with ants. I started using Starkle G in my soilmix and it helps.
It was from overwatering kase too much rain lately. There's no starkle G here... I wish meron sana
I hope it cuts and grows well~~^^
I hope so too 😔
It happens to my topsy turvy,,and I'm sad I couldn't save both head and the lower part 😔
Oh no... you didn't catch it early enough...? So sorry for that. If it makes you feel any better, I know everyone says topsy turvy is easy, but it's one echeveria I struggle to keep alive 😅😅😅
Hi guys! I can relate I don't have succulents out side but I have hens and chicks and found sedum and the squirrels dig up every thing 😒
Ugh! The critters! I wish they would just leave our succulents alone. Were you able to save the plants they left behind...? I hope they are ok. 💚
@@TheseSucculentBuddies sedum is tough and a little cayenne pepper help , I just save what I can and hope for the best
I'll try the cayenne since it's already in my kitchen. Thanks for the tip! 😊
@@TheseSucculentBuddies you are welcome and be careful wash your hand right away and keep them away from your eyes also it will wash away after a rain
Ok, it's been raining daily still, so maybe I'll wait a few days before applying. 😊
Hello!! It’s been 2 weeks I watered my succulents. Moisture meter registered 1. But thick leaves are not soft to touch. It’s summer. Do I need to water? Thnx
No, if leaves are still firm, you do not need to water yet. Please refer to episode #69 for when to water succulents. I have a few different succulent examples for visuals on when to water and explain why. Here's the link... ua-cam.com/video/WP1kfNLfc9Y/v-deo.html
@@TheseSucculentBuddies Thank u so much. You’re such a great help to us🥰.
Another thing: is it necessary to dry coco coir before using for repotting ?
No, not neccessary at all to add coco coir. It's just another ammendment you can add to your soil mix to make it more well draining if you choose. And you are always welcome Norma! Thanks so much for stopping by and watching 😊
Oh I'm so sorry, I read the comment wrong. Yes, it is neccessary to dry the coco coir before mixing. Or at least just damp and not wet. Reason why is because you don't want to introduce too much moisture right away to newly re-potted succulent. Always better to stay on the dry side. 😊
@@TheseSucculentBuddies Sorry, it’s about soil mixture. I’m using the1:1:1 perlite coco coir potting soil. Coco coir is still wet cause we put water in bricks , as what I learned, dry to be used for repotting
why my succulents are becoming soft day by day what is should do please explain 🙏🙏 what is the solution for it
I would need to know the conditions they are in and if they were either over or under watered. But here's a helpful video explaining how to read your succulent's leaves and what signs they are telling you. Hope it helps... 😊 here's the link ua-cam.com/video/3yKar6ywbsA/v-deo.html
What is the purpose of superglue..
To seal the open wound and prevent moisture from getting into the stem and possibly cause rot. This helps for those who place new cut succulent stems outdoors where humidity is high or the succulent could possibly get wet before it has a chance to callous.
@@TheseSucculentBuddies So we can use superglue right after the cut..Thnk u..Chris 💚
Yes you can use superglue if you just took regular cuttings from a healthy succulent. But I advise not to use superglue if you cut the stem because of rot. This way, you can see if the stem develops more rot in case you didn't cut all of it off.
@@TheseSucculentBuddies 🙏💚
Pinaka nging prob ko ngaun biglang Ulan ang stem rot😢kht Yung pinka stable ko nmatay dahil Sa stem rot😢
Yes, kase, the combination of heat and humidity is the perfect recipe for rot. Pag masyado mainit, it's better to provide shade and to keep them dry. Only water when they are dehydrated and water at night. Ang masama kase, yung super init, tas bigla ulan, then init ulit while the soil is still wet. That's what causes the sudden rot. 😔
@@TheseSucculentBuddies true miss tine,,,ang dme ko n n cut😢problema ko nman ngaun qng paano mgpaugat😢😢 sna msurvive ko pa Sila😢
Aww... I hope they root. Ok lang yan, as long as all the rot is cut off, mag uugat naman. 😊
