Since 2006, Martin Stewart has handled guitar duties for Los Angeles-based hardcore punk band Terror. We invited Martin to ESP headquarters where he got to give us his first impressions of the LTD Deluxe EC-01FT, part of our "New for 2024" guitar collection. His reaction speaks for itself. Available in Black, Olympic White, and Vintage Burst finishes, the EC-01FT features a flat-top body at 24.75” scale, smooth set-thru heel construction, a 43mm nut, Macassar ebony fingerboard with pearloid block inlays and 22 extra-jumbo stainless steel frets, a recessed TonePros TOM bridge and string thru body, and the Custom 14, a new custom pickup designed exclusively for ESP by Seymour Duncan.

I've been a huge fan of this guy's riffing since I first heard Terror in around 2003. Always been impressed with his tone. For being thrash hardcore crossover it's surprisingly clear and crisp while also being brutal and aggressive. If this dude say's this guitar sounds amazing I'm not here to argue at all.

This guitar is really awesome. I'd choose the black one, but swapping out all the chrome hardware on it for the black hardware that comes on this white guitar. In my opinion, a completely dark EC-01FT would be perfection.

For me the problem with EC1000s is the 1.65 nut width. When that is combined with a Gibson scale it's just too small for my hands. It feels like a junior guitar. But this EC01 has 1.693, so that's more like a Gibson feel.

Fishman Moderns are available in like every single every other guitar lol. Which is a shame, most people seem to only like one of the voices and my local guitar shop recently told me they're constantly get jobs to remove them or swap to EMGs. Although I'm told the Abasi Fishmans are becoming a really common alternative within the Fluence platform
