- Como's final Christmas special was filmed in January 1994 in Dublin's Point Theatre before an audience of 4,500 people, including Irish President Mary Robinson and Como's friend, the actress Maureen O'Hara. Perry Como's Irish Christmas was a Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) production, made by an Irish independent production company in association with RTÉ. Como, appearing aged and unwell, had the flu during the show which took four hours to record. At the show's conclusion, Como apologized to his Dublin audience for a performance he felt was not up to his usual standards.
Como's version of the song reached #29 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, the last of his many popular recordings, dating back to 1943, to reach the Top 40. It also spent one week at #1 on the easy listening chart in 1973. In Britain, the record reached #3 on the UK Singles Chart in 1973 on RCA Records and remained on the chart for 31 weeks (longer than any other of his hits in the UK).

He was not feeling well at the time just getting over the flu and also trouble with his bladder. He was good on this song, it was his favorite and of course Nick on the piano makes it. The first time we saw this show we spotted it had problems, I always thought the editing was partly at fault. But Perry said he had to make this trip, and so it goes. But nothing can ever dull his spirit, talent, and resiliance that he had in every concert, it was Perrys last live concert which is ashame. I have letters from Vera, Perrys secretary when they closed the office in New York and you could just feel Perrys sadness and her sadness as this was being done, but there were to be no more shows and he and Roselle spent their last years happy in Jupiter Florida. Love you and miss you Perry, love Jeff and Linda.

Mr C could turn it on - this song brings tears to my eyes as it brings back so many wonderful memories of my beloved Grandparents. you simply don't get music like this today.

A magnificent singer who always sings superbly as he proves here at 81 yrs old..Definitely one of the greatest singers of all time.The crowd erupted when he hit the high notes and gave him a thunderous deserved ovation at the end.Nice to see the audience reaction to this brilliant singer who had the most beautiful voice .He was much loved as this clip from the concert shows.He truly did have the voice of an angel.Wonderful .
