Here is the theory: Instacart possibly puts you in 1 of 3 different queues a day. 1 queue you get first dibs, you will get nearly everything you accept. 2 queue is average, you win and lose some. 3 queue you get last dibs, miss most of the batches. Get notifications for batches you don’t see. Hear me out, recently I did a test where I had two accounts with different ratings go to the Costco drop. First time the 5 star saw batches way before the 4.93. Next day I did the same test and it was the opposite. So ratings didn’t effect when I saw orders. Something random did. Somebody else did a similar test, and they are who showed me this theory. Idk, what you think?
I think you’re onto something. I was just thinking about similar idea this past week. It either feel like Instacart is great & I get first pick to good batches even with a 4.92 at the time . Other days its a fight for batches if can accept fast enough & lastly they are days that are complete garbage or none at all for batches. I finally got my rating up to 4.96 this last week and thought I was going to see some great batches and it was completely dead… I think they do this on purpose, you have an amazing day and you love Instacart and then you have a crappy day and you want quit. It’s almost like they pull along just enough to keep you as a shopper. I love shopping for people, it just sucks that it’s never super consistent with the pay & miles. Do you have any theories about if you accidentally scan the wrong item at the store? This has to plays in as a factor somehow, sometimes I think it more important than speed.
I totally agree. I think the whole 5 star and see priority batches vs less than a 5 star and see what's left over isn't totally true. I've been a 5 star at times for a few Months at a time and have sat for 3 hours and not seen a single order. Then there have been months where I am at the " average " to " above average " rating and don't really see any difference. I think people aren't ordering as much as they used to with the whole lock down part of the pandemic basically over. I had to stop worrying so much about keeping a perfect rating cause it was driving me crazy. If I get a 4 star these days it doesn't really bother me

Sucks when your rating tanks from one or two people rating you lower than a 5. But just have to grin and bear it until you can push it back up to a 5 again
They've definitely changed the batch assignment algorithm to proximity-based. I'm 4.90 and I got a two $60 batches back to back on a TUESDAY! Both offers came in as I was driving by the stores.
That's not even a bad rating. in the last days I got 2-3 start ratings. I don't even know why. it's really bull shit. I'm a diamond shopper and always at like 4.95-5 star. but most people don't even leave a rating. so 2-3 stars and 40 5 stars just put me at 4.8. that's the lowest I've ever had. I'm very disappointed.

To be honest , I don't think the rating matters anymore. I've been make more money when I'm 4.8 than 5 stars . It's crazy but I see better batches when I'm low.
I would disagree. The one thing I have noticed, is that the system does push customers to you that have given you a 5 star rating in the past. If I had to guess that has a good amount to do with your luck as well when working with low rating.
Mine is 4.90 for 40 ratings . i had a notification saying I had 20 5 stars in a row. Wished there was some kind of compensation for that . 😅 A customer wanted me to cancel an order, saying she didnt order anything. Was really weird, so I contacted instacart so I wouldnt get another cancellation mark against me. They need to make it possible to cancel for the customer a lot easier, than what it is.
I have them cancel my order if the store is poorly stocked. I'll try again later. The shoppers are always sent to the same (poorly managed) store, and the order can often be fulfilled on the second try. I only give less than a 5-star rating because of poor communication. This service ain't cheap.
Ok, so I get up this morning and see that my rating has changed once again. It's saying that only 34 ppl have rated me and now I have 5 stars . I don't understand how I went from 40 ppl to 34 and my ratings change that much. Lol and to boot, the other day I left the order at the wrong house. I guess Instacart just likes being sketchy or I'm just dumb and don't understand them.
@@ovrjoyd I have been applauded many times for my communication with the customers, some have even increased my tip. I mean, if I'm paying for a service and tipping too, I want some damn groceries brought back, not be empty handed when the shopper arrives. Some of them don't care, just wants to get it done and off to the next order.
Wow that was a great day for you! That last order was awesome wow good for you!!! I had a super good day yesterday we had some winter weather snow sleet and super high winds so I def took advantage of that!! On average I was seeing 15 to 18 batches at a time it was crazy busy lol! That def does not happen on a normal day and I think your theory is right there are days I may see 1 or 2 batches all day and other days I am doing order after order!
How do you get such high pay for an order and one delivery? Instacart gives me 3 batches at once, with anywhere from 4-12km and pay is always about $20. That’s three deliveries for $20. Do you have to be perfect at this job to get higher paying batches?
Nope, you can have a crap rating, reported damaged items, and a sucky time and still make money. Just made $260 last week with all the above problems. It’s all location and your market

I have trouble doing two at once and scared to try taking a three batch order. One time I could t get ahold of the customer as they ghosted me when I couldn’t find a bogus address that my gps got confused. The food was a gift and the order was made from out of province. Besides having trouble contacting instacart which I did somehow, they contacted the customer and then my phone rings which was the person receiving the gift of food. Almost 2 hours later. I couldn’t get into the building as outside door was locked. I lost so much time. Frustrating! But people got their food and I made new friends new to Canada! Then I get dinged for a late order!

Finally I decided to act and asked one of my customer who was nice with me to rate me 4 stars, which she did 👍🏻 She was laughing, said it’s weird but I’m gonna do it for you(long discussion with her to explain what was the problem)!!! My rating dropped to 4.98 and since Thursday, I’m making $200+ everyday!!!! Beleive me or not, I see orders all the day… My wife recovered her 5 stars today so we’re gonna see what will happen tomorrow!! I will update in this comment. Thank you for your video 👍🏻😊

I have a 4.54 rating i've only completed 30 orders. Yesterday i got 2 1 stars because while i was doing my first Aldis order apparently a bunch of stuff got switched around by the cashier and both of my customers received wrong items. Today i only made 130$ working 10hrs normally i make 200$ in 8 hrs without the costco drop. With that being said as long as you're an above average shopper I don't think theres much of a disadvantage if any.
Yeah it happens. I had a bad week where I got a 1, 2, and 3 star all from bogus damage claims. All were under $15 batch’s which makes stinks even more. The plus side is that I do think the system pushes batches to you from customers that previously gave you 5 stars as I noticed the only “good” batches I then had for 2-3 weeks were from customers I had delivered to recently and I know gave 5 stars. hey man i have the worst rating ever from when i first started i didnt realize how important a high rating was in order to get the best batches. I thought atleast a 4.5 and higher would be okay even though i didnt purposely try and have a lower rating, just noobie mistakes and i was wondering if you could make a new instacart account or if after 100 batches will my rating reset?
They will take away your lower rated batches after a certain amount of new batches are completed and your score will rise, unless you keep getting bad ratings
Dude do you realize, at the end of the video, you showed a 100 dollar tip. That's awesome, but you are getting ripped off by Instacart. 60 cents per mile, multiply that by the 9.9 miles is just a bit shy of 6 dollars. That means your batch incentive is only $1.82 . wow. Wow WOW. Batch minimum is between 7-10$ depending on "zone" whatever that means. PLUS mileage. Plus mileage. Plus mileage. Let that echo in. So this how your earnings should be calculated.... Batch 7$ + mileage $5.94 = $12.94 + tips. You should have been paid $112.94 for that order.
been seeing this alot, I don't bother asking for bumps because I have seen people get deactivated just for asking for heavy pay. The company is doing alot of shady stuff. btw that $100 tip was an increased tip. Did not see that till late that night. EDIT: okay, I am looking into this and this has been happening often. I am gonna research this, and make a video. If the minimum batch pay is $7, then they have done this ALOT.
After researching, i learned instacart does not pay $7 incentive. They can pay next to nothing. Most of the instacart pay is just based on miles and heavy pay. That is why there are so many no tip orders at $7. With 5 miles of driving. They never say it’s $7 + miles and heavy pay. It’s $7 is the minimum and the batch incentive pay is determined by metrics and fluctuates. Gives us shoppers no way to tell if they are paying us correctly. Disgusting. Still making a video on this. $1.50 batch incentive is laughable
@@aphidcart Yes they don't pay $7 incentive, it's usually more. But what I am trying to say is... There is info out there that can be researched. Plain and simply put, batch incentives plus mileage plus heavy pay plus Peak Boost plus tips are all separate entirely. So when instacart has an order with all of the above bonuses attached to an available order. it is plus plus plus plus. Batch incentives are $7-$10 Peak Boost is $3 Mileage is $0.60 Heavy pay is $10 for every 45 Pounds. There is also a $2 bonus for every 5* review. I tell them all the time. If I have an order that weighs 450lbs they need to pay me $50.00 just for heavy pay. I think their computers are screwed up. I contact support for all issues 😉🤠 I've seen a batch offered at $11.10 It was said to include heavy pay plus a $1 tip. The order was a 3.6 miles away. LMAO 🤣🤣🤣😂😂 😂 Ten cent incentives that doesn't even include the miscalculated miles. I'm telling you this so when you make another video, you should feel the need to educate your audience. Enough people complaining to support will force Instacart to properly adjust and repair the miscalculations. Instacart makes money selling groceries too. They markup items. Customers with an order of 20 items, pay an average of about $62.00 more before tips. This includes all of the fees for every delivery. This is why I.C.Shoppers get hit with "Wrong Items" or "Damaged" items. Or why shoppers have Non Tipping customers. The thing that is pissing me off today is how there are so many shoppers using the instacart platform that instead of shopping for 3 customers and deliver, I'm seeing the batches being split up. Making it completely not worth my time.

They never say it’s $7 + miles and heavy pay. It’s $7 is the minimum and the batch incentive pay is determined by metrics and fluctuates. Gives us shoppers no way to tell if they are paying us correctly. Disgusting. Still making a video on this. $1.50 batch incentive is laughable
@@aphidcart Yes they don't pay $7 incentive, it's usually more. But what I am trying to say is... There is info out there that can be researched. Plain and simply put, batch incentives plus mileage plus heavy pay plus Peak Boost plus tips are all separate entirely. So when instacart has an order with all of the above bonuses attached to an available order. it is plus plus plus plus.
Batch incentives are $7-$10
Peak Boost is $3
Mileage is $0.60
Heavy pay is $10 for every 45 Pounds.
There is also a $2 bonus for every 5* review.
I tell them all the time. If I have an order that weighs 450lbs they need to pay me $50.00 just for heavy pay.

I've seen a batch offered at $11.10
It was said to include heavy pay plus a $1 tip. The order was a 3.6 miles away. LMAO 🤣🤣🤣😂😂 😂
Ten cent incentives that doesn't even include the miscalculated miles.
I'm telling you this so when you make another video, you should feel the need to educate your audience. Enough people complaining to support will force Instacart to properly adjust and repair the miscalculations.
Instacart makes money selling groceries too. They markup items.
Customers with an order of 20 items, pay an average of about $62.00 more before tips. This includes all of the fees for every delivery.
This is why I.C.Shoppers get hit with "Wrong Items" or "Damaged" items. Or why shoppers have Non Tipping customers.
The thing that is pissing me off today is how there are so many shoppers using the instacart platform that instead of shopping for 3 customers and deliver, I'm seeing the batches being split up. Making it completely not worth my time.
