Yeah zombies REALLY came up after Innistrad 3. Most importantly though she's massively fun to play and challenging to pilot without necessarily having to lean into combo.
My favorite deck I've ever made, has been my Rat tribal commander deck. Marrow-Gnawer is soooo good, and paired with Coat of Arms, you can easily be able to overwhelm all the other players at the table
@@adamcappella8088 Rat Colony, they work better with Marrow-Gnawer's ability, as those rat tokens are able to boost the Rat Colonies, then with the Fear making it so they can go through most defenses, makes it so they'll hit, hard. Great episode! Just wanted to note, you said that Goblin Recruiter was the only one of it's kind for tribes... I have Dwarven Recruiter in my Detalpa and Magda dwarf tribal decks. Same effect and it works really well!

after the latest innistrad set, zombies really have pulled into the lead. I have a Varina deck where I'm running 6 mass-reanimation effects. It's super on theme, but also really hard to beat a board that always comes back.
Nice! Love me some tribal decks. One of the many reasons I dig Kaldheim. Next do a video on tribes that should get more support and how you would make them fresh!
I played my first elf deck last week, Lathral. And my play group already wants to ban elves even though I didn't win haha. Very good tribe, was a fun one to play. Look forward to improve it some more over time.
I've designed a deck based around Maskwood Nexus, and the spirits that graveyard from library and then battlefield from graveyard are amazing includes in my opinion
Steven Sanchez was one of my best friends in high school. we rode BMX together, unfortunately he was paralyzed from the waist down. it's a real tragedy too, he was getting really good, too.
As a person who plays almost exclusively Tribal decks, Pirates (MalcomBreeches) Werewolves (Tovolar) are pretty strong. Malcom goes infinite very easily with Glint- Horn Bucaneer and Tovolar draws you a ridiculous number of cards. They're both about as good Clerics or Spirits. There's also Magda Brazen Outlaw who goes infinite so easily she single handedly pushes the Dwarves into the level 9 power. Although the rest of the dwarves are terrible and Magda carries the whole tribe so that might not fit your criteria.

I agree sliver are the best I've one shot 3 opponents every week with them super powerful and2 there alot of combos with them I u se alot of recovery to nasty stuff lol
Really surprised Merfolk didn't make it onto the list. They have like a million effects to get creatures through (whether it's by tapping the whole board or abusing Islandwalk and cards that turn lands into islands) and draw a million cards off of that (Coastal Piracy, Seafloor Oracle, Bident of Thassa, etc.), all backed by the classic blue "fuck you" moves such as counterspells and Cyclonic Rift. Alongside goblins and elves, they are also one of the three tribes with a repeatable tutor (Seahunter).
Sad you didnt mention Terror of the Peaks, its a dragon wincon like dragon tempest but it pings for power instead of X amount of dragons, and paired with cards thst increase the power of dragons you control can just kill the board in one turn with enough mana.
I have tried Ur and Tiamat for my dragon deck and Tiamat is way more constant for fast wins. With proper mana base(no mana crypt) i average a turn 5 win. The fastest being T3. Never get that consistency with Ur. In my play group half won’t play if I play dragons.
Sliver commander can be really fun to play but there isn't a real depth of strategy to them. It feels like your turn is just going to be land drop, play any slivers you can, attack.
I love using telekinetic sliver with 4 or 5 other sliver then tapping all my opponents creatures then there wide open there's a lot of things that u can do lol just nothing nice
Harmonic Prodigy goes OFF in an upgraded Ghired deck. Two 5/5 flying dragons with every upkeep? Double token populated by Ghired? Plenty of fun to be had 😈 It’s gotta be bonkers in the Wizard tribal deck
I have quite a few tribal decks and I really enjoy my Angels deck because I made it Angels/Equipment with Halvar, God of Battle as the commander. Kinda fun having a god being the angels commander. Lol This deck has all the good swords in it. It’s also my only mono colored deck.
hey, i love these kinda videos, and many others. i used to play in end of 90s until like 2003. then counter strike caught me :D on arena i had fun for like 2 years until recently, and i went through my old collection. back then i loved clerics, and zombies. the edge walker brought it to my mind again. do still people buy those cards these days? thought on trying to put some of those on cardmarket, but not sure how the demand is these days. my biggest treasure would be "only" a sliver queen, but that one ill always keep as memory.
Another awesome video! Is there a particular reason you didn't put Eladamri lord of leaves? I was under the impression it was a particular strong elf commander
Big fan of elves in commander and tribes in general; Eladamri is quite a good card in the 99 but he's not as good as Marwyn's ability to go infinite with basically anything or Ezuri's ability to protect everything from a boardwipe and have a payoff for all that mana. I think Lathril was mostly mentioned because it's golgari
I'm all about that goblin tribal, whenever somebody sees me running krenko they look at me with disgust lol. But I'm a little upset that rat tribal doesn't synergize that well.
He may not be specific to dragons but people always tend to underestimate Animar. With that lovely green mana, blue draw and lots of dragons, Animar gets out of hand fast. A dragon tempest/scourge of valkas and lathliss, it gets pretty nutty when all your dragons cost 1 or 2 mana.
I think Slivers shoud be much higher. For me they are 4th, maby enven 3rd. Its so easy to combo with them - so much option to do. On top of that they have best option to protect them self becose of 5C ;)
Zombies have been getting strong support since at least the Onslaught Block. Undead Warchief, Call to the Grave, etc. And then Zombie Master from Alpha.
I likeb Naban as a wizard commander because you can use the bazillion etb bounce something wizards to control the board until you get to one of the Scrivener wizards and do whatever you want from there looping things. And by like I mean played twice and took apart because it was no fun for anyone including me.
I completely agree with the 10 tribes in this video... the only change I would make its putting Goblins at #2 and Zombies #3 (superior speed while retaining swarm capabilities) ... Other than that, this is the Definitiv Top10 for sure Varina, Zada, Kykar, Arcades are my tribal commanders
''Not on anybodies radar'' Clerics #10 Me: OMG YEAH BOI! Mardu clerics for dayz! I been playing Cleric's since Onslaught block, Legions. Amonkhet and other sets (Kaldheim, Strixhaven) over the last couple years have really bolstered Cleric Tribal. What makes a good tribe? Access to flying and Kaldheim Angel Cleric's really pumped the tribe. I love how Cleric tribal can have some Human, Zombie, Demon and Angel synergy now. Clerics also have access to some weird abilities from MOM (Mother of Runes), Devoted Caretaker, Preacher, False Prophet, etc... to control the board. - Dragons: Will the real flier tribe please stand up? I made my Dragon deck with a bunch of lower cmc cards like Heartless Summoning to get -3 to cmc, the -1-1 is nothing compared to how fast you can overwhelm an opponent...not as fast as Spirits though LOL. I think Spirits have a better CMC arc while Dragons will overwhelm the deck with a slog of 5cmc+ creatures :( - Inalla, slow deck but can be pretty silly. Wizards are really tricky I went with a bounce/ETB theme. I really need to up the ramp maybe to speed up the deck. - Goblins: Didn't think I was making 3 goblin decks but I did: Krenko tin street kingpin, Zada Hedron Grinder, Wort, Boggart Aunty. Why? Because Gobbo's are just fun and Mono red decks work great (I'm surprised even how well they work) - Zombies: Varina, Lich Queen, ESPER zombies *chef kiss. - Elves: Abomination of Llanowar, golgari elves are awesome! :P
Maskwood nexus + phyrexian alter + grave crawler = gg for vampires with edger. Sanguine Bond + Exquisite blood = gg on top of that because they have easy access to up to 6 because black mana alone, the white Tutor and that's just some note worthy things off the top of my head.
I built that Rogue Anowon deck you guys featured and I have won a few games. Mostly for the same reasons you mentions back then. You wanna waste your Deadly Rollick on my Prickly Boggart? lol k be my guest. What I did change tho was I added Blighted agent....those counters adds up fast with lord effects and equipment. I've even eliminated players with strixhaven stadium!! deck is so much fun lol.
I think the biggest issue with cats, cool as they are, is that they suffer from a tribal identity crisis: if elves are so strong because they are all on the same page, cats are weaker because they're all going in different directions--chasing different laser pointers, if you will. Arahbo wants you to go tall; Nazahn wants you to pretend you're Cat Thor; Mirriiis go wide but also combat matters but also tap shenanigans. Regal Caracal and such want you to go wide with tribal buffs; Kemba wants you to go some weird Voltron/tokens hybrid.
As far as eminence goes, can't we just be happy it happened years and lessons were learned? Now that everything commander is pushed I'm glad it's not a mistake thats going to happen again.
Aye, Steven here! I like to think I have a very real name. If my dad stayed, it apparently would have been Steven Phinley, which is like, nah I'll pass lmao. Keep up the great content! Btw, no metion of Freyalise as Elf-tribal commander? Do y'all think she's bad? :v

I'm all about that goblin tribal, whenever somebody sees me running krenko they look at me with disgust lol. But I'm a little upset that rat tribal doesn't synergize that well.
Wizard tribal for life! Easily my favorite tribe. I love the complexity and the theme.
Surprised there was no mention of Rick, Steadfast Leader when you talked about humans
Oh yeah Rick is pretty great as well
Sick shirt Joe! CM Cherries
I appreciate joe cherries wearing the cm punk merch.
I hope we sea more merfolks soon in a set
overlord is strongest sliver>? and how is it #7 should be #2 next to elves
When is the patron name tier list coming out?
I think Slivers shoud be much higher. For me they are 4th, maby enven 3rd. Its so easy to combo with them - so much option to do. On top of that they have best option to protect them self becose of 5C ;)
I think slivers should be 1or 2 there one of the oldest and strongest tribes
Other than that, this is the Definitiv Top10 for sure
Varina, Zada, Kykar, Arcades are my tribal commanders
''Not on anybodies radar''
Clerics #10
Me: OMG YEAH BOI!
I think Spirits have a better CMC arc while Dragons will overwhelm the deck with a slog of 5cmc+ creatures :(
- Inalla, slow deck but can be pretty silly.
Why? Because Gobbo's are just fun and Mono red decks work great (I'm surprised even how well they work)
- Zombies: Varina, Lich Queen, ESPER zombies *chef kiss.
- Elves: Abomination of Llanowar, golgari elves are awesome! :P
It may not be a strong tribe, but dear Lord do I love my bear tribal Ayula deck.
Maskwood nexus + phyrexian alter + grave crawler = gg for vampires with edger. Sanguine Bond + Exquisite blood = gg on top of that because they have easy access to up to 6 because black mana alone, the white Tutor and that's just some note worthy things off the top of my head.
Sad to see Angel's didn't make it. I have a brutal Liesa, Shroud of Dusk and it slaps hard. Full of flavor and strong flyers.
Hey Joe. What is your shirt with the hand wraps??
Also Cleric decks with Bolas Citadel is filthy
What about Angels?
Just a question from a recent player
Dragon shield also has custom sleeves maker now
Aye, Steven here! I like to think I have a very real name. If my dad stayed, it apparently would have been Steven Phinley, which is like, nah I'll pass lmao.
Keep up the great content!
Btw, no metion of Freyalise as Elf-tribal commander? Do y'all think she's bad? :v
Ally's will always have a special place in my heart.
Joe Cherries with the absolutely based C.M. Punk merch. Got the same shirt, wear it all the time. ⚡🙅♂️⚡
Cabal Archon is another good support card for Clerics!
NPN's forgot grave titan, if they remembered that then Zombies would be #1 for sure
i cant wait to see the day that Dinosaurs become a good tribe
Aurelia can hit hard for angels if you put a ton of mana rocks in it.
I have a zombie tribal (Varina, Lich Queen) and a tribal tribal (Tazri, Beacon of Unity).
