The price of a ham sandwich skyrocketed after this episode. It literally combos with everything.
Gotta get cheese and mayo and a bag of chips before they skyrocket. Speculate on mustard for you spicy boys.
Can't wait to see the most powerful tribes, like Atogs and Beebles.
Not strong to let you win, but if you play Atog tribal, I'm never going to neglect to say "The flavour is strong with this young padawan".
Aurochs are the strongest :P
@@mr.mammuthusafricanavus8299, your name is Mammuthus but you don't pick Elephant? I'm confused and slightly scared of your Aurochs deck.
@@spurcalluth6300 I play Atog tribal, makes a ton of treasure and clue tokens for them to eat
Atogs will rise again
On goblin recruiter: "no other tribe gets this."
Dwarven Recruiter: "Excuse me good sirs!"
Unfortunately dwarven recruiter doesn’t lead to a stupid combo involving food chain and goblin ringleader.
Sorry Dwarves!!
@@NitpickingNerds Dwarves have Magda though who is CEDH viable. She carries the whole tribe by herself though so that maybe doesn't fit your criteria.
It gets mothdust changeling, universal automoton, and magda, meaning two of the best dwarves in the game are changelings
90% of my decks are tribal, love doing underrepresented tribes every now and then. Got a spider and druid deck
Druids are actually kinda good!
Seton is an interesting creature-storm commander with some nice druid synnergy.
Loved my druid deck, miss my hermit druid
Who's your spider commander?
@@ElliotReports ishkanah
Same, some of mine I love are my demons and my leviathans/sea creatures deck. They're not the strongest. But, I just love doing tribal. Even if it is with either huge mana chugging monsters that like to inconvenience me at times.
I have personal attachment to my krenko deck I build it ages ago when I still played casual table top and when I got into commander (a couple years back) I knew I had to build it and it's still one of my favorites to this day
Yeah zombies REALLY came up after Innistrad 3. I'll never stop plugging Varina as top of the heap for zombie tribal, she can dig SO deep and just gives you a lot of resilience, as well as access to great removal in white and two of the best aristocrats in wayward servant and corspe knight. Most importantly though she's massively fun to play and challenging to pilot without necessarily having to lean into combo.
❤❤❤
I can't wait to see Merfolk on this list!!!
Did the professor send you here to say that? Lol
Mangara the Diplomat is also an excellent cleric who can draw you cards, I think Moon-Blessed Cleric is a slept on card from AFR who can fetch you an enchantment and put it on the top of your library. Not the best tutor but it's a cleric in your cleric deck
It’s a great cleric. I built an orah deck and moon blessed cleric gets me two aristocrats (meathook and bastion of rememberance) and a pseudo win-con (cleric class lvl 2)
I play Athreos Cleric Tribal, plenty of sac outlets and recursion.
great in human tribal, too!
I LOVE that you started out with Clerics at #10. I really really appreciate this, since I've tried to make EDH clerics work since I began playing the format, and Edgewalker for many years was the only evidence that the tribe really existed at all.
My favorite deck I've ever made, has been my Rat tribal commander deck. Marrow-Gnawer is soooo good, and paired with Coat of Arms, you can easily be able to overwhelm all the other players at the table
Rat colony or relentless rats?
@@adamcappella8088 Rat Colony, they work better with Marrow-Gnawer's ability, as those rat tokens are able to boost the Rat Colonies, then with the Fear making it so they can go through most defenses, makes it so they'll hit, hard. And again, further boosted when you have Coat of Arms in play, that's when things just get ridiculous
I guess that makes two people I’m aware of that use a rat tribal commander deck lol
Marrow Gnawer, sadly is just a worse Krenko.
Rats as a tribal deck are extremely lacking of good cards.
Its a fun deck, but not that good(
@@Uefeti that is true, there's way less Rat options than Goblins, but Krenko lacks the same evasion granting that Marrow-Gnawer does, being able to swing in, unblocked, for 20 or so damage is pretty solid, having a lot of Rat Colony cards goes a long way. And also it feels kinda nice to me using, what's in my opinion, an under utilized tribal
Very good video on the top 10 tribes. You showed some great cards and combos.
My favorite tribe is Treefolks! Can't wait for a return to Lorwyn to get some more sweet Treefolk cards :D
i love that gary is a zombie. i love cleaver scab'ing him, and i cant wait for sawn in half from the next UN set
The last thing I need is more Garys 😂
Great content as usual
Thank you for mentioning Marwyn she’s my first commander and it’s become one of the major threats at my pod. It’s wild to me that she’s never really talked about in main stream Magic she’s just so god damn good
I love how your channel has grown.
Mmm Skirk Prospector is definitely top 5 goblins of all time, I have a soft spot for the simple Warchief and Chieftain too, haste is great.
Haste looks good on goblins!
As a goblin player I have won many a game to de hasty boiz
First off I love the content, positive vibes and intellectual outlook, keep it up. :) Your channel is a breath of fresh air.
However, I have to say (having played and built Slivers) that, IMHO Slivers are grossly underappreciated in your ranks . As far as synergy, ability and ceiling goes they're quite possibly the ONLY tribe where each one can not only help protect, but also give absurd amounts of power and abilities to another of their kind. They literally, like you guys said, "do everything". Lol Sliver players have to be dealt with immediately. A board presence with even a budget sliver list, if not dealt with, can go wild in no time.
I'd put them third, behind Elves and Goblins, respectively. 😏
You guys kick the butt, thanks for all the great content
Thank you, happy to be kicking butts!
Minotaurs are my first and favorite tribal deck I made in Standard and they finally made Sethron, The Hurloon General for the perfect Minotaur commander.
P.S Slivers are also dope,The First Sliver is my commander I roll with and that deck gets out of hand with Cascade
You guys are machines. Yall pump out content like crazy.
Hopefully it's good content!
Great video guys! Also, Love the CM Punk shirt 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Underrated dragon tribal commander: Purphuros Bronze Blooded, built a dragon tribal deck with it as soon as it was released a couple years ago and absolutely love playing it
Great episode! Just wanted to note, you said that Goblin Recruiter was the only one of it's kind for tribes... I have Dwarven Recruiter in my Detalpa and Magda dwarf tribal decks. Same effect and it works really well!
Nice! Love me some tribal decks. One of the many reasons I dig Kaldheim. Next do a video on tribes that should get more support and how you would make them fresh!
Golgari elves are so fun, I run a homebrew Abomination Voltribal and it's SOOOO GOOOOOODD
High Five* I do something similar with my Abomination. I really enjoy how underrated Abomination is to Lathril like I can play the same deck but switch commanders and all of a sudden I get HEAT but they see Abomination and they're like this is fine LOL :P
hey, i love these kinda videos, and many others. i used to play in end of 90s until like 2003. then counter strike caught me :D
on arena i had fun for like 2 years until recently, and i went through my old collection. back then i loved clerics, and zombies.
the edge walker brought it to my mind again. do still people buy those cards these days? thought on trying to put some of
those on cardmarket, but not sure how the demand is these days. my biggest treasure would be "only" a sliver queen, but
that one ill always keep as memory.
after the latest innistrad set, zombies really have pulled into the lead. I have a Varina deck where I'm running 6 mass-reanimation effects. It's super on theme, but also really hard to beat a board that always comes back.
Elven superiority! I just started playing and Lathril was the first deck I bought and upgraded. I'm always a target though.
How do you live through boardwipes with it?
@@Wyrm7774 Patriarch's Bidding. Living Death, Haunting Voyage
I've designed a deck based around Maskwood Nexus, and the spirits that graveyard from library and then battlefield from graveyard are amazing includes in my opinion
awsome video, we play a lot of tribal in our playgroup
I played my first elf deck last week, Lathral. And my play group already wants to ban elves even though I didn't win haha. Very good tribe, was a fun one to play. Look forward to improve it some more over time.
Classic great video.
For me an honorable mention would be warriors. Ever since i made my najeela tribal warrior deck i noticed how many staples and powerful creatures happen to be warriors, i guess it comes down to a poor selection of commanders or lack of warrior-specific payoffs.
Great vid btw, keep up the good work nerds!
I play zombies and I run gissa and Geralf at the helm, using cards like entomb , buried alive and tunnel vision combined with being able to return a zombie each turn makes getting the combo pieces so easy
Can't believe they put clerics in instead of elementals. Elementals have some insane payoffs and one of the craziest combo commanders ever printed.
tell me more 👀
@@crackerman5519 Horde of Notions is a 5 color legend that can revive amy elemental. Elementals often have powerful etbs which have added pay offs with cards like Yurok the Desecrated and Risen Reef. Both are elementals that also benefit from having tons of elementals getting etb triggers. The deck can gain copious amounts of advantage off of some simple interractions, and has many playstyles including, but not limited to: landfall, burn, stompy, 5 color combo, etb focused, dredge, and evoke focused. I've played a lot of tribal decks, and Elementals have been some of the most consistent and powerful of the tribes I've played.
@@caseylangstaff sounds awesome, never seen elemental tribal before but you make it sound awesome. do you have a decklists?
Another awesome video! Is there a particular reason you didn't put Eladamri lord of leaves? I was under the impression it was a particular strong elf commander
Big fan of elves in commander and tribes in general; Eladamri is quite a good card in the 99 but he's not as good as Marwyn's ability to go infinite with basically anything or Ezuri's ability to protect everything from a boardwipe and have a payoff for all that mana.
I think Lathril was mostly mentioned because it's golgari
You should mention Acererak the Archlich comboing with rooftop storm.
Sick shirt Joe! CM Cherries
I just built an experimental Shrine/Enchantment commander deck and so far it's been really fun to play. A bit random at times, but interesting.
Same its strong I use sisay as my commander for the tutor shrine since only 17 shrines isnt enough to build a solid shrine deck
Hey Joe. What is your shirt with the hand wraps??
Couldn’t believe they didn’t mentioned Acererak as the combo piece with Rooftop Storm.
We need another Theros set with more Minotaur support :( by FAR my favorite tribal deck. A commander with W/B/R, so Reckoner shenanigans can happen. The only issue, is that it'd have to be a pretty good commander to take over Mogis, Neheb, or Sethron.
Sliver player here, first commander deck i built.
Steven Sanchez was one of my best friends in high school. we rode BMX together, unfortunately he was paralyzed from the waist down. it's a real tragedy too, he was getting really good, too.
Again a nice video and great work, but also again you are wrong about Fury Storm going infinite with itself: copy is not cast 😅😉
Love my zombies, might be strongest but it clips back well. Vampires is solid fun as well, really follow their own theme.
I think people sleep on Torens, Fist of the Angels as a Human tribal commander. It's super easy to go wide with the deck and training makes it easy to work with +1/+1 counters
He's got a place in the 99 of my Johan deck myself.
Really surprised Merfolk didn't make it onto the list. They have like a million effects to get creatures through (whether it's by tapping the whole board or abusing Islandwalk and cards that turn lands into islands) and draw a million cards off of that (Coastal Piracy, Seafloor Oracle, Bident of Thassa, etc.), all backed by the classic blue "fuck you" moves such as counterspells and Cyclonic Rift. Alongside goblins and elves, they are also one of the three tribes with a repeatable tutor (Seahunter).
As a Kumena and Svyelun I can confirm the folk are the NUTS. Beezy doesnt think theyre that strong tho :(
Kumena and svyelun player*
I do like seeing tribal stuff, here to hoping we get even more tribal payoffs!
is this video before new capenna? bc my new giada deck fux
If you build a cleric deck would you put à lot of clerics even if some are not that great, just for you tribal payoffs. Or would you put aristocrat good pieces that are not cleric just to focus more the deck on the aristocrat theme?
I built that Rogue Anowon deck you guys featured and I have won a few games. Mostly for the same reasons you mentions back then. You wanna waste your Deadly Rollick on my Prickly Boggart? lol k be my guest. What I did change tho was I added Blighted agent....those counters adds up fast with lord effects and equipment. I've even eliminated players with strixhaven stadium!! deck is so much fun lol.
did any on the new warhammer precon cards put demons in a better spotlight?
When is the patron name tier list coming out?
I play Sliver's with The First Sliver and Zombie's with The Scarab God.
I have used Goblin recruiter mostly to get Dockside Extortionist these days.
Riders of Gavony is a slept on humans card. It has always pulled its weight in my knights deck.
I have quite a few tribal decks and I really enjoy my Angels deck because I made it Angels/Equipment with Halvar, God of Battle as the commander. Kinda fun having a god being the angels commander. Lol This deck has all the good swords in it. It’s also my only mono colored deck.
I did the same thing with my green white Angel tribal deck with karametra god of harvests as the commander. I thought the flavor was spicy.
As a person who plays almost exclusively Tribal decks, Pirates (MalcomBreeches) Werewolves (Tovolar) are pretty strong. Malcom goes infinite very easily with Glint- Horn Bucaneer and Tovolar draws you a ridiculous number of cards. They're both about as good Clerics or Spirits.
There's also Magda Brazen Outlaw who goes infinite so easily she single handedly pushes the Dwarves into the level 9 power. Although the rest of the dwarves are terrible and Magda carries the whole tribe so that might not fit your criteria.
Pirates are crazy good mostly because of malcom and breeches
I completely agree with the 10 tribes in this video... the only change I would make its putting Goblins at #2 and Zombies #3 (superior speed while retaining swarm capabilities) ... Other than that, this is the Definitiv Top10 for sure
Varina, Zada, Kykar, Arcades are my tribal commanders
Veyran makes a good Wizard commander too, but she also goes well in the Wizard 99. Even Niv-Mizzet, Parun makes for a good Wizard. Essentially, Wizard Tribal is the ultimate form of Izzet deck.
Where would you rank Angels and Demons in terms of Tribal? 😊 im new to MTG and really keen on creating an angel or a Belakor demon deck 😊
All this video taught me is we need more slivers
Aye, Steven here! I like to think I have a very real name. If my dad stayed, it apparently would have been Steven Phinley, which is like, nah I'll pass lmao.
Keep up the great content!
Btw, no metion of Freyalise as Elf-tribal commander? Do y'all think she's bad? :v
I likeb Naban as a wizard commander because you can use the bazillion etb bounce something wizards to control the board until you get to one of the Scrivener wizards and do whatever you want from there looping things. And by like I mean played twice and took apart because it was no fun for anyone including me.
My favorite tribal deck is my Jund goblin deck piloted by korvold. I sacrifice goblins to draw cards into my powerful combos or synergies. However sometimes I don't even need to cast korvold to win, the deck is so versatile that the commander is unnecessary, sometimes I just replace korvold with shattergang brothers
Joe Cherries with the absolutely based C.M. Punk merch. Got the same shirt, wear it all the time. ⚡🙅♂️⚡
Harmonic Prodigy goes OFF in an upgraded Ghired deck. Two 5/5 flying dragons with every upkeep? Double token populated by Ghired? Plenty of fun to be had 😈 It’s gotta be bonkers in the Wizard tribal deck
Zombies have been getting strong support since at least the Onslaught Block. Undead Warchief, Call to the Grave, etc. And then Zombie Master from Alpha.
Great list, although there a so many tribes its hard to decide on 10.
I love my proud warriors and najeela
I have a Kyler human deck. Its really fun to play
Sad to see Angel's didn't make it. I have a brutal Liesa, Shroud of Dusk and it slaps hard. Full of flavor and strong flyers.
Can some 1 tell why spending 2 mana for a sliver token is better then the endless cascading of the first sliver ?
Mana Echos and Sliver Queen equals infinite tokens.
@@brianw4211 ty ty
Easier to control/manipulate I'd think.
Beezy: Angels are the worst.
Beezy: The best Human is an Angel.
Beezy's card name knowledge is pretty impressive
Most of the time it is but he couldn’t think of hellkite charger this video
For anyone who likes clerics and combos, here are two more: vito - exquisite blood, relic warder - animate dead
You don’t exquisite blood if you have a blood artist or something in play. I used to play that loop in my Teysa Orzhov Scion deck
Hilarious intro today guys.
I have optimized Dragon, Zombie, Elf, Slivers, Human, and Cat decks. I have to agree with your top 10.
When it comes to fun though? ZOMBIES!!!
I appreciate joe cherries wearing the cm punk merch.
I wanted to build a sliver overlord commander deck is sliver queen more powerful because of the combo potential?
Overlord is the best commander for slivers. Main reason, you can tutor for sliver Queen when you are ready to combo off.
@@brianw4211 thats kind of what i was thinking. Which is a relief since theres no way I could ever afford a sliver queen unless its reprinted. Which it never will be!
Sad you didnt mention Terror of the Peaks, its a dragon wincon like dragon tempest but it pings for power instead of X amount of dragons, and paired with cards thst increase the power of dragons you control can just kill the board in one turn with enough mana.
Also sad they didnt mention mono red queen Lathliss
@@youngnikos9625 Lathliss is hella good, amazing token engine and also doubles Terror of the Peaks' pings, dragons work so well together.
I'm all about that goblin tribal, whenever somebody sees me running krenko they look at me with disgust lol. But I'm a little upset that rat tribal doesn't synergize that well.
Is ambush commander a good elf card? It turns all forests to elves.
Nice Punk shirt, Joe!
Sliver commander can be really fun to play but there isn't a real depth of strategy to them. It feels like your turn is just going to be land drop, play any slivers you can, attack.
I love using telekinetic sliver with 4 or 5 other sliver then tapping all my opponents creatures then there wide open there's a lot of things that u can do lol just nothing nice
What about Angels?
Just a question from a recent player
26:07 For a fraction of the price Reflections of Litjarra does the same thing.
He may not be specific to dragons but people always tend to underestimate Animar. With that lovely green mana, blue draw and lots of dragons, Animar gets out of hand fast. A dragon tempest/scourge of valkas and lathliss, it gets pretty nutty when all your dragons cost 1 or 2 mana.
my Honorable mention would be Minotaurs. I love my Minotaur deck. kinda similar to Slivers but just super aggro
I have tried Ur and Tiamat for my dragon deck and Tiamat is way more constant for fast wins. With proper mana base(no mana crypt) i average a turn 5 win. The fastest being T3. Never get that consistency with Ur.
In my play group half won’t play if I play dragons.
Just going to say- Taborax is AMAZING with shadowborn apostles, considering they're all mono black clerics
Wort bogart auntie is a fun rakdos Goblin deck. Less powerful good. My favorite play with recruiter is to get ringleader and 4 other goblins and put them all in hand the next turn.
Aww I got recommended this and thought it was a new episode with Joe and beez
When is the next commander tribal game play?
Mono white humans can be pretty powerful. I formerly ran Odric, Master Tactician but switched recently to Rick, Steadfast Leader. Great way to beat down opponents using lifelink and Nykthos Paragon for my big payoff.
Goblin recruiter is great. Dwarves have dwarves recruiter as well, much weaker tribe but they are finally getting some good dwarves printed.
I really wish Gargoyle tribal would become a thing
I don’t agree about angels but I do about elves. I play a mono green elf deck commanded by Omnath Locus of Mana. Think about it ;)
Cabal Archon is another good support card for Clerics!
