  • GOLF CLEAT SOFT SPIKE REMOVAL RCTWINS
This video shows how to remove golf spikes or soft spikes from the souls of your golf shoes, Mine are FootJoy, Callaway and New Balance, I tried all the normal tools with no joy. Who knew a simple screw driver would pry them right out! The cleats are softer than the pockets, so no damage occurs to the pocket. I love remote control aircraft and golf, for rc airplanes take a look at www.rctwins.com

Great tip, and thanks for making this video. Helped immensely. For super stuck one that won't pop out with screwdriver, raise the little tabs of the rings enough to grab with pliers and clamp won then twist off.

I bought the tool and tried unsuccessfully for 20 minutes. Grabbed the screwdriver and popped one out in under a minute. Thanks for sharing this

This worked great!.. I just did a pair of Adidas shoes where all the spikes were frozen. Most of the spikes popped out like the video shows but I had several where the plastic post on the spike broke leaving the bottom of the post stuck in the hole. Using a small flat screwdriver, I pried these out with the same technique shown in the video. All came out and I replaced all the spikes with new ones made for Adidas shoes. Thanks for sharing this video!

this works easily: fill a pan larger than the shoes with hot or very warm water about an inch, enough to cover the spikes but not the rims around the golf shoes. Set the shoes in the water, and wait about 15 minutes. The caked dirt fused to the spikes threads should soften sufficiently to use your spike removal tool to untwist the spikes.

Alternatively you could just run the soles under some hot water, combined with a stiff bristle brush has the added bonus of clean shoes afterwards.

My problem is that the Fast Twist recesses are all loose between the interlayers of the sole of the shoes. You have difficulty removing the cleats because the housings rotate with the cleat. Similar when you you screw them back in.
I've tried an adhesive called Stormsure which is great for most shoe repairs where flexibility and waterproofness needs to be maintained but it doesn't work with torsion. I dribbled the glue around the edges of the Fast Twist housings and let it cure. When I tried to screw the cleats back, even only starting them by hand and a quarter turn to secure, the adhesive failed.
    I'm looking for a Plan B.
If anyone can come up with anything I'd be interested.

An opinion. Golf went to shit when soft spikes came in. Does Tiger Woods have soft spikes? LOL

Dear FootJoy and other top US major brands, I expect better engineering than this poorly designed low quality soft spikes that are difficult to remove and replace, specially with dirt, without massing with screw driver and drill.
