I'm grew up in Hong Kong and still lives there. All I say is that, in terms of the road itself, the accuracy is spot on, EXCEPT the width. They haven't just made each lane wider but really adding them. For example, at 2:35 the highway narrows to 2 lanes at this point. Also this highway in real life has more ramps that leads to tunnels going off Hong Kong Island. But since this game solely focus on Hong Kong Island, those split roads are removed. This is why all those lane guidance sounds off at times telling you stay left or right when the road simply has nowhere to go off to in the game. The other thing is that in Hong Kong, there a lot of central dividers and the traffic lights are at the middle of the road to split on coming traffic. The game developers simply removed them for playability. By the way the solar crown race track is a Jockey race ground in real life.
What da I live in Hong Kong and drive everyday the roads look nothing like it… about 3% of the game is like Hong Kong… check the Hong Kong reviews of the game goes through different spots we can all agree it’s mostly made up no LKF Victoria part etc I mean these are key spots
I lived in the Belchers (Sharps HQ) up until last year. In real life the mall extends to about 6 floors after which the structure fades away into an apartment complex with an entrance next to the University further up the hill. The details are SPOT ON. The MTR metro stations are missing but everything else, the signage, the lights on the floor, the rock formations in the surrounding area are all exactly the same. It's extremely strange to drive around these areas without having the shops/stores/restaurants as they are in real life. But with my familiarity of HK island, I can say that 90% of the map is exactly as it is in real life. Even the rural beach areas like Shek'O. Its truly a shame that they didn't model the Kowloon side of things because that area is pure chaos, but I guess that would've pushed development for another few years, so take what you get!
@@TheAlexVII @Alex! Real nice video, again! I've got 2 questions about TDUSC: 1. What do you think about the races in TDUSC on consoles/PS5? Really waiting for a game to have good turbo sounds. The cheesy F&F over the top BOV noise has been done to death. I wanna see if they could add that turbo spool you get from Catless GTRs, AMGs, Bimmers, Audis, Porsches, turbo R8s, turbo 5.0s, Turbo Vipers. Just that constant spool🔥🔥🔥
(Probably a stupid question.) As far as I know, PS5 and Xbox, for the most part, require a subscription in order to access multiplayer. Does that mean that those people who don't have a subscription will only be able to race with bots?
I’m guessing? No idea for sure honestly, but they’ll detail how that works before the game launches or during the first console tests I’d think. Not a stupid question though haha!
For Xbox any game that is ONLINE ONLY does NOT need a subscription to play. The Crew for example can be played without Xboxs Subscription. PlayStation do not do this and for ONLINE ONLY games the player will still require a subscription.
It would be so cool and weird if someone made ,mod to integrate google maps and tdu but also so so hard it would require the fakery of gps but also reading game inputs but tbh it can be done, it would just be very weird

However, the difficult part would be to: 1) retrieve the vehicle's position from the running game, and 2) translate the position from whatever coordinate system the game uses, into Earth's latitude and longitude coordinates, so that the mock location shows up in the correct place of IRL Hong Kong Island
It's online only but not PVP only, so you can race against bots. I totally understand if you don't want to buy an online only game though, honestly valid.
@themorocco6921 This I'm unsure about as I havent played the demo, I assume it's like every other online only racing game where you do have the option to race bots, but someone who has tried the demo will have to confirm.
I have played demo and had one or two where it's two humans. Normally 99% of the time It's PvE, 1 human, 7 AI racers. If someone joins it's PvPvE so like 2 players and 6 AI racers. It's not strictly PvP unless they add special clan races as that would make sense too.
1:1 means the actual size and topography of the island is 1:1. It doesn’t mean every road is recreated, that would be tedious as both a development timeline and gameplay design tbh. I get what you mean tho
