  • For his Keynote at the second German Open Science Festival 2023 in Cologne Dr. Daniel Mietchen chose an inteactive approach.
Arguing that open science is about co-creating and collaborating in science he encouraged the audience to participate directly in the keynote. To reach the goal of improving the way science is being done and sience being adapted to what society needs is why the impact has to come from community engagement.
Together with the audience Daniel Mietchen set up an instant project on an Etherpad to record the carbon footprint of ZB MED. Thus anyone could contribute own ideas and suggestions, comment on different approaches and come up with topics, criticism and questions. And quite incidentally, this demonstrated the possibilities open science and research can have in practice.
