I totally agree about putting away pintrest! After I bought my dress, I went in and deleted all the wedding dress pictures, so that I wouldn't see it and second guess myself.

I am wearing a navy blue dress instead of white. I never wear white, ever, and wanted to feel like myself on our big day. However, I am worried about not feeling "bridal" in color. I would love a video on how to wear a non traditional wedding dress and feel bridal plus how to style the wedding party around it.

Umm well 1 Ban your color from the guest dress code. Make your dress color the one and done. SO ONLY you wear it. 2 you can choose either a complimentary color to your gown for your girls or even put them in white! White is neutral will pop your Navy gown more honestly. But those 2 things will aid in making sure you are special on your day. Choose bridesmaids wear that compliment your dress and make your color a color only you can wear. I also would consider even not telling anyone outside the bridal party you opt out of white and make it a surprise so the 1st look of you can wow your guest. the maids come out then you wow in your dress. And then focus on styling you in the bridal fashion you like (veil, birdcage etc) you can get them in your color and honestly if you feel like you it will be bridal. No one can choose what bridal is to you except you. Congrats. and totes loving the Navy color choice :)

I LOVE navy blue ! I like a pale yellow with it for some reason. ...Good for you for not being bogged down by tradition.

Not sure if this is still relevant to you anymore, but I'm going to have a blue top with gold accents and a white skirt with gold accents. At first, I wanted to have an all-blue dress but then I looked at some different outfits and decided the differing top and bottom but congruent accent is the perfect balance for me.
I personally am not one to care about expectations of what "should" be bridal, so I didn't get anxiety from that, but if it is something you're still worried about, maybe throw in white accents or jewelry or flowers so people can't claim you wore no white at all

Love your videos! Could you do one with the perfect day of timeline that will keep guests entertained? I have been to weddings where things seem to drag on and the party hardly ever gets started and the guests seem bored. I am really trying to avoid that from happening. Thank you!

I want to get married in a chapel, and in the fall. For my reception, I want an outdoor, pavilion type thing. Preferably overlooking a forest or just a large cluster of trees, already changing the leaves colours. For center pieces, I want little vanilla candles, large-ish, wood rounds, and a mauve, light pink, flowers, with babies breath in small vases. ( these flowers would match the ones in my hair)The vases could be very small, oval, kind of ridged, and would kind of give you Great Gatsby vibes. On top of the wood rounds, would be a black, metal place holder, and on top of that, would be the table "name". The table would have a soft pink, linen, table cloth on top, with either black metal, or wood chairs. Kind envisioning the wedding I want?

@@chandlerredhead27 lol yeah reading back over my ideas a year later I'm realizing that I wasn't taking into account price. also, a mauve, woody brown, ivory, with black and gold accents color scheme with LIGHT PINK TABLE CLOTHS?!??!?!?!? absolutely not.
but may I introduce you to another idea, with the same kind of vibe because after a year I still want the same general wedding??
Same locations and time of year, and tbh same kind of colors, but this time no pink. Instead, I'd have a small, quaint reception with just my closest family and friends (I don't want people sitting around the sides unless they're old. And I'm a family person. It's also cheaper.)
The tables would be round, but only four or five tables with one longer, rectangular table for me and my new husband. Each one covered in a simple ivory lace tablecloth, the kind that I can give to my older relatives.
Each table would seat about five people, maybe a few more, all of them sitting on wood chairs. The tables have a simple but ornate look about them, with the centerpiece being a book (probably decorative for $$ sake), a tall white candle on top, the kind that's unscented and you can get at five and below. Next to it would stand a simple, gold (looking) baroque card holder. The card holder will don an elegant card, with a number written in an ornate cursive (my only concern is that it may be difficult to read). A small, travel sized shampoo bottle sized amber vase of various shapes and sizes with unique textures will sit in front of those two, forming a triangle of beauty. Within it's (most likely plastic) chamber, it will hold babies breath, lily of the valley, one blood red rose, and a sensible amount of a deep green foliage.
The plates will be a plain white, with delicate silverware placed thoughtfully next to it. (This may seem odd, but) The cups and glasses will be mixed and matched. No two people will have the same cup. I'll go around to placed that have overstock from other places and get unique cups. They will be filled with a thank you note and small gift, and another note telling the recipient that the glass goes with them. (that whole idea stemmed from the fact that I absolutely LOVE unique glassware.) Another, simple, wine glass will sit beside it.
The plates and cutlery will give the attendees the perfect idea of the delicacies about to be served. A mass order of chick-fila nuggets and fries with chick-fila's sweet tea on tap.
I hoped you liked this *slightly* overzealous description of my reception :D

Looooove this advice. So important to think about how I would throw a dinner party or any other event and make it “me”. I think it’s easy to get bogged down in wedding as a theme in itself and forget that it’s just a party where we get married. That’s helped me stay focused on what’s most us and let go of a lot of wedding trends or expectations.

I think my strategy with Pinterest is to try to get more specific about my vision, rather than more broad. Like pinning lots of florals that I like to try to figure what flowers I’m most drawn to. Or trying to figure out different ways I could style the blush gauze table runners I’ve already chosen.

That seems odd to base my wedding off my closet I like a lot of things I just know don't look good on me for instance my favorite colors are blue and purple pastels but they wash me out so I don't have those in my closet. I ware a lot of red green and black but I wouldn't want those as my wedding colors. I would say my bedroom decor matches my wedding style though.

  • @Bsnyddd

    Love this!!!
We both wear a lot of neutrals, and dark shades so we are veering away from bright stuff, and really much color at all! Dark (almost black) hunter green, a dusty rose, a cinnomon rose (dark, muted almost wine color), and some accents with ivory and taupe.
I agree with the Pinterest thing! It can be overwhelming having so many cute ideas in front of you to commit to ANYTHING! I actually made a specific Pinterest board with all the things I wanted: bouquet, dress, wedding party attire, my hair, bridesmaids hair, makeup, table numbers, centerpieces.. and I deleted the 4000+ pinned "wedding inspo" board I'd been adding things to since I was like 19! Felt good! Felt like I KNEW what I wanted, and I stopped searching, and liking and pinning everything that was cute and just focused on what would fit our special day.

I opted not to wear a white dress on my wedding day. I almost never wear white and I am not a traditional person. So I went with a pretty gala dress that I absolutely adore. My wedding is still more than 1,5 year away, but the dress was one of the things that I wanted to get asap.
I am glad I did, because I now have a dress that makes me feel awesome.
My fiance and I decided on a color theme; black, silver and light blue/aqua. We are planning some things that we really want in it. I want some butterfly and bird decor and he really wants skulls in the decoration. But we are good at coming to compromises or actually finding things we both like. It is our day and that is how we are treating it. I like to keep myself occupied with more of the tiny details, and he likes to see the bigger picture with the bigger stuff. We really complement each other in that regard.

The groom and I are both hard rock junkies. Part of me wants something that reflects our wild style, and part of me wants something traditional and elegant that my family will like and feel comfortable in. I know if we hired a DJ it would just be the MIL and me dancing till our feet fall off, and the rest of the family would probably get bored because they don't dance, but she and I would be having the time of our lives. I'm at a loss of what to do! I'm looking for a happy medium and I want my guy to have an amazing time too!

My mother and father are very insistent that I wear a white bridal dress since "it's traditional for the bride to wear white for their first wedding" and and I want to wear a black, or red jumpsuit and detachable skirt that is either white or pink. How do I get them to back off when I am paying for what I wear but they are contributing to the wedding?
For context, our wedding ceremony and reception are at a church with fall decorations and lots of lawn games.

New subscriber here! I'm not currently engaged but hope to be soon, and your videos are super helpful as I dream about my wedding. One question that's been bugging me for a while now: are center pieces really that big of a deal? I have been dreaming about my wedding since I was a young girl and I love thinking about all the different aspects of it, but I just cannot care less about center pieces. They're the one thing about wedding planning that I am so indifferent towards. Will my guests think my wedding is cheap or unfinished if I have simple, easy to setup and take down centerpieces? Like a small mirror on the table with a few candles on it, and maybe a garland, and that's it. Thoughts?

I was getting quite caught up on how I would decorate the table and I couldn’t remember how it was done at other weddings - I was trying to imagine it all together (as opposed to looking just at the centre piece online).
Then I realised I couldn’t remember - and it’s likely no one else will either... 🤣
