Once you've rafted down the Grand Canyon, 8 days, 280 miles there isn't a river that comes close. We rafted it 10 years ago when we were 60 yrs old. We had eight guests(4 short of a full load) and three crew on a 30ft rubber pontoon, 16 ft wide. I never camped out and had such fantastic food. They even cooked us a cake for our anniversary. I would recommend that rafting trip to anyone. We had a great time. Getting to old to do it again. Have to much more to see in the USA and Canada. Your making me want to plan another trip to Alaska thou. Thanks so much for sharing.

We are glad you were able to check in early. It was great to see the white water trip. We had not thought about doing white water at Denali. It has been added to our list. The hike looks like something we want to do too. Thank you for the information in the video.

You guys are inspiring me to make sure the Alaska Highway and Denali are firmly on our RV bucket list. 👍.
And btw, we’re also eyeballing the Alliance 310RL. 😎

Hopefully you’re doing your pull tests differently since this video. It’s recommended to keep your front jacks down about an inch above the ground in case the trailer drops off of the hitch. And always do this before you pull out of your site as well. Just an observation. Safe travels!

I should've noted we use the Andersen Ultimate hitch, which attaches with the raised ball. The pull test I do is more to test that our trailer brakes are working. If we ever change hitches I will make a mental note though! Thank you!

@@Registered_Nomads Sorry. I didn’t notice that. Makes sense now. Thanks for clarifying.

I went to Alaska in 2006 and just in a pickup so no RV or anything to stay in nor did I ever have accommodations ( its much easier to do such things when one is on their own, I would have been strangled otherwise ! ) and I did take a shuttle bus into Denali although the furthest shuttles were already booked for the day so I had to go a lesser distance, probably went a ways further then that slide I'd guess. I joined the 70% club as well, a park ranger pointed to where the mountain "was" as it was socked in and raining and we were constantly washing the bus side windows at every stop. However I got to see a mother grizzly and her cub and then another full grown grizzly that stood up on his hind legs looking away from us ( he probably spotted a meal ... a lone hiker perhaps 😅), also some wolves and yes some moose and sheep far in the distance. Then upon driving south towards Anchorage that evening I look to the west and holy crap, there is Denali well above everything else in the distance. I've only been rafting once as per a "real" white water raft ( the smaller rafts ) and that was in the narrow slot canyon of the Royal Gorge of Colorado and we had to change into swim wear and then put on the supplied outfit and I was soaked since I was in the front as the guide chose me and another guy to paddle up front. The water would hit us two like a wall and slam us back, had a great guide who was from Nepal and he rated the rapids that day as a 4+, that was an interesting experience. But back to Denali, a couple near me in the shuttle were on their honeymoon, they had just prior gone on a flight around Denali mountain and said the weather had been sunny and it was an absolutely fantastic visual experience.

That sounds like an amazing trip! That's great you were able to see Denali, we've heard it's breathtaking! Sounds like your rafting was just as exciting as ours! Colorado would be a great place to raft from what we've heard. Maybe next time we will get a chance to see the mountain! Thank you for watching and commenting!

@@Registered_Nomads I've only been able to see Denali up close by ground and by air by living vicariously through other peoples videos !. Certainly Colorado offers some good white water rafting, I will mention that the rafting companies shut down certain runs further upstream on the Arkansas for a bit that summer out of caution after a private raft had attempted a run and they were thrown out of their raft and drowned because the water was too cold further upstream and they were immobilized to save themselves. The water warms up considerably as it gets south of Buena Vista to the Royal Gorge. Definitely that put a damper on the situation for the rafting companies even though it was not their fault. There is always a danger when it comes to wild water. If your into horses ( as I laugh, of course you are ! ), you might want to go on a trail ride that actually gets onto the mountains in Colorado if that was of interest.

That's amazing! I can only imagine how beautiful it must have been to boondock in that area! We saw a lot of flights in Denali and thought that'd be a cool experience to do sometime! Hopefully we can see it next Denali next time! Safe travels!
