That’s a nice find. We had a Yamaha dealership for 27 years but sold it in 2022. We did see some cool old bikes and toured the Yamaha factory showroom in Japan where they had one of every bike they built from 1955. Yamaha is such a good company.
Hey Dave and Bruno how you guys doing today in a long time since I watched one of your videos I love your videos you’re going to swap meets and all the other things that you go to the show the old motorcycle parts that are available and around. The Yamaha you’re looking out just totally awesome. I love it. I think I’d have to have it if I were you no matter what it’s just cool thanks for the video Dave. Have a great day.🇺🇸☘️⚡️⚡️
What a cool find! The one who wins and owns such a bike like this is one that puts in the time to do the research and due diligence and goes by the name of DAVE. Congrats and enjoy! 😊
Nice one Dave, a novice like myself would have walked by that bike and thought...Hmm someone put a old yz motor In a XS frame and bought a body kit... cute, but not for me.😂🤭🤣 love your channel.
That one is definitely worth the time, money, and whatever effort it takes to do a proper restoration. We’re talking about an American made Works-bike. With provenance! How did they not know what they had? I’m happy for you, brother. What a gem!
Very cool piece of history. I would love to speak to Shell Thuet and pick his brain about bike tuning. What a great find this bike is. You are the Motorcycle sleuth. It would be worth finding another 360 engine and restoring it to its former glory.
Another great video, When it comes to finding bikes I can say you got a sharp eye, My son has two 78YZ400s and one 78YZ250, 78 was the first year for the Aluminum swing arm, Again Thanks for your time, Pensacola,
Very cool I love the race bikes, flat track and moto-x from the 70s through the 80s. I asked before if you ever come across any 1977 it may have even been a 19771/2 Ossa Phantom GPIII 250s. I have never seen one since I got ride of mine. See a few earlier years but not the 1977 / 19771/2. Thanks Dave take care bud and ride safe.
Glad for you Dave and happy you made the score. You certainly deserve it after being screwed on other recent purchases and I hope for your continued success! Screw those Mecum people.
Way cool! Noticed the yamaha in the first video.Would make a cool street tracker .What a nice find.I want it! Ossa is nice condition although I know nothing about them but Im learning alott from you Dave .
I think I have a shell CR250 Flat Tracker that was raced in California, went to Japan to a museum then shipped to Texas would love to get your take on it and if we could track the history. I have it running off and on because it spends most of its life stored.
Young Dave, you certainly have an eye for detail. Everyone else seeing it in person and on line missed it. Now it's a 250, do you put a 360 in it or sell as is, or keep?
Glad you got this bike. The auction was kind of a mess and I had originally been bidding on the Ossa Phantom but stopped bidding on anything when my bid was pulled and a $3000 reserve put on the bike. He had some very nice CZ's and JAWA bikes. I wonder what happened to them?
I watched a Video or and read some articles not long about Shell Thuet , I even screen shot the parts Brochure ect.. He sold all the parts you need to built a flat tracker.
@@thatsmrharley2u2 nope, but they might make me a better deal becuase i bought the others. I don't really want it but I could help you if you wanted it
I'm trying to get an all original '76 YAMAHA DTMX360 off a lifelong buddy of mine. It has the factory aluminum wheels and is whole and complete. Never been rebuilt and still has good compression. I'm working on a package deal for it, with an '81 Oldsmobile Cutlass Cruiser.
360's were used in AMA short track racing thru "76, after that AMA limited short trackers to 250cc . I was a novice in '77, rode a Can Am. AMA made the change to get more brands/manufacturers involved. Most MX bikes had moved up from 360 to 400+ cc. Mostly Yamaha and Bultaco in '76 and quite a few of them were 2-3 yrs old. Harley even had a 250! That's a terrific find.
Cool bike, rare yes, worth more than a Trackmaster ot Champion.... not really. The pool of guys buying these bikes is getting smaller everyday. its not an ASTRO!

Alot of people paint there bikes to be a vintage Yamaha race bike, this one is! Cool find, the X650? Maybe XS650? frame explains the brake mount
@@RDEnduro im guessing same or similar frame but different engine mounts
And the front motor mount

I'm not sure. It needs a 360
The yam is a Shell racing mx/yz250 👍 I have two here in the Uk
What a historic bike to find, good story!

It will look good next to the Rickman.
Congrats.
Going back to the scene of the crime great intro
Is that the original motor? And who built it?
I'm not sure, because it was at the time of the AMA rule change on displacement
Ossa was my first bike . 250 trails.
Astro dome bike for Kenny before KR is what I thought it was.
I have a shell frame 838 is my frame number.
Just checked and it is 837. 837 and 838 isn’t on the list of frame numbers.
Oh man! Weird
@@bullpencycles A friend found it at a bike show in Washington state. No one knew what it was so we got it for $150 for frame and fork.
and apart from all that, the Yamaha single is a great motor.
The only paint scheme a Yamaha racing/performance bike should have. I'm so old I was a Hurricane Bob Hannah fan.🙀🤔
My guess was either a Boss or a Shell. it turns out to be a shell.
Could be a shell thuet model .
Your a genius Dave or Sherlock

Kenny Roberts practice bike
It doesn't look like any Yamaha two stroke I ever seen
