Rare Vintage Bus Conversion #1

  • RARE BUS CONVERSION full tour inside and out, as requested. After other requests we are now considering selling "OUR BABY". Since it is the last Southern Coach, we have been offered $230,000 by one viewer but think it is worth more just on the basis of its being the only one and its condition.
    PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT IF YOU ARE SERIOUSLY INTERESTED IN OWNING THIS AS A COLLECTOR OF RARE ITEMS.
    Another factor of interest to a collector would be the Fageol LP gas engine created by the mechanical geniuses, the Fageol brothers.
    Parts are available, however in our 42 years of driving all over US we have only replaced one bearing and got that at NAPA.
    QUESTIONS ANSWERED: We made it to sleep 10 because we have three daughters and other family members that liked to travel with us. Plus, we took friends on ski trips and touring many states for up to three weeks. It is easily driven because it was set up to drive on city streets (one of the reasons we chose it). Our teenage daughters had no problem maneuvering the bus even in mountains. SINCE WE HAVE NOT FOUND ANOTHER ONE OF THESE BUSES, WE ARE CONVINCED IT IS "THE LAST ONE" AND ARE SELLING IT AS A COLLECTIBLE. TALKING WITH MECUM AUCTIONEERS.
    We are in touch will Mecum Auctioneers and are planning to auction our bus in January.

    I absolutely loved this video. It obviously was about the bus but also for me it was about the gentleman himself, the older generation. Honest, humble, hard working and God fearing. Thank you for posting this.

      How true that is! This world has lost its way. Sad in so many ways. People could learn so much from the older generation if they would just slow down and take the time to listen. I have an assistant at work who was not my choice and he has zero work ethic and doesn't want to learn. He's barely 21 and thinks he knows it all. I guess I might have been the same in many ways, but I do know I wanted to learn and I paid attention when I was being told something I needed to know. I'm getting close to retirement and have alot of knowledge to pass on. I shouldn't have to make this kid get to work. He should be all over it! I'm gonna blame some of the laziness on this contraption I'm on right now. They sit in their parents basements and play games in the dark instead of getting outside and wrenching on a car or having to be told to mow the lawn! Rant over. You just got me thinking with your comment.

      @@ceeceety2320 I thought I was just out of touch with today. I feel the same way. I watch the old tv shows and realize that If the old farms and ranches had a working radio for AM, they were ahead of the game. No TV's, maybe a radio. the rest of the time they were working the ranch, cooking meals, washing clothes, cleaning house. Recreation was playing sports outside, football, baseball, running jumping, doing barn raisings, hae community dances with real musicians.
      yeah, the old world is gone. no one talks anymore, visits with each other, worries for each other... churches are dying. It's all about Internet, cell phones, text messaging. really sad.

    Sir I love the bus and you did an excellent demonstration. People in large groups and on social media are stupid and have no manners. Since no one sees them they type things their Mother would or should have slapped their face for saying. I would love to take my kids on vacation in a beautiful bus like this, I am in no way financially able to offer what it is worth. I would need to sell my house and live in it, which I think I would enjoy. I hope you find someone that cares as much as you do for it and has the means to take proper care of it when it is not in use.

    • @ceeceety2320
      @ceeceety2320 5 років тому +1

      Brenda Swann Well said! It was a badge of honor in days gone by. Too bad it isn't that way anymore in today's throw-away society. We just consume and so many don't even recycle! I would much rather have a vehicle that can be wrenched on by myself or someone who knows more than myself, but if you look around, you see the older Jeeps still on the road and some are in meticulous condition and you can go to a salvage yard and get replacement parts for them. They aren't made of plastic! I don't know if you've ever spent any time walking through a salvage yard, but there aren't many newer models, meaning from the last 2 decades, out there if any, unless it's a truck or a van. That speaks volumes! Nice comment!

    That is a thing of beauty. If I had the money I would buy it in a heartbeat. Or at least try to. Just watching this video makes me nostalgic. Don't know exactly why but it reminds me of my 1967 Chevy Sportvan I converted. Sad I had to let it go. Those memories won't easily fade though. I'd say you can relate. Don't think I've seen such elegance and functionality in another bus. Just wonderful! My fiance and I have been pondering on converting a school bus lately. Shame we probably won't be able to afford something rare and unique in itself. So guess We're just gonna have to make it that way! Again absolutely great what you have done there.

    Absolutely awesome ! I knew you were either retired Navy or a boater before you said you pulled your boat with it. By intending to the tour and all the built in redundant systems you installed like the 7 ways of switching your starting batteries and the pull start on the generator just in case very well thought out and professionally done it is a dream of mine to build one i am a retired Woodworker and a lifetime. Boater that has always enjoyed having things or making. Things tidy and neat My family once teased me because i spent a entire vacation one year dealing up and repairing years of other people’s electrical wiring on a used boat i purchased It was worth it to me as i pulled out enough wiring to fill a 5 gallon bucket and to get all my gushes and systems working plus I labeled every wire in the boat and panel Great job on the upohlstery sewing became a hobby of mine Because of the high cost of marine work and wanting to do it better as well as Vintage auto restorations again i wanted the work to be exactly what i wanted so i purchased a industrial walking foot sewing machine and read. As much as i could about the trade growing up i was. Icky enough to have a Father that had many skills and was good with his hands so he taught me a lot of skills and i went into construction my adult life I do agree with the LP gas engines thank you for the video and the tour on a very special bus i wish you and your wife many happy and safe miles and the best that life can offer

    Much respect due you sir. As a former owner of a Prevost coach out of Orlando Florida as well as working on Prevost coaches in a custom shop crafting MDP (main distribution panels) and wiring harnesses from tail to front turn signals I appreciate and applaud your attention to detail and your passion for your personal coach. I also owned an Airstream classic 345 for a short time intending to refurbish from stem to stern. Wonderful design and classic class A style. Alas the years caught up with the wife and I and strength youth and stamina is gone and we sold our coach. It is good to hear and see another man of some years talk about his coach in a forthright, upstanding manner. Be well, you've a fine unit.

    I believe you would be really sad if you sold this bus. It is so beautiful. You and your wife did a great job converting this bus. I would add an office at the end of the bus though. I wish our country made this type of quality today.

      Take it to Barrett Jackson. If I had the money, I'd buy it from you and then take it to auction and make a ton! Watch the Futureliner video. ua-cam.com/video/DwoUCNFpfkI/v-deo.html
