Sand bags for balance in the front works, but one day someone observing me at the river lugging sand bags around said why don't you use 5 gallon soft water jugs. Fill them at waters edge and then empty when taking out. Worked great for me with my 15 foot Grumman and 3.5 Merc.
There are times and places that my OLD 17' Grumman has taken me, that rival the best women I've ever known. I guess that makes me a freak, but I really do not care. There is a connection of a man and a boat, that simply goes beyond a simple man's words.
4hp Merc is just right for traveling, trolling and getting back up a lot of current.... Just what the doc ordered for my 17ft. Michicraft.... I have a heavy duty aluminum trolling bracket and a double ended canoe. Thanks for showing what the 4hp will do on a canoe.
I agree. I like to explore places no other boats can get to. Small back waters and creeks. Or go up river with the motor and paddle back down. But it is funny. A lot of people have never seen a motor on a canoe, and I always get looks. On the trailer or off. People always ask questions. But don't get me wrong, I love my kayak too. But sometimes a guy wants to travel!.
I had an old Mitchicraft when I was in college and floated the Snake a lot. It surely contributed to a decrease in my grades. I wish I still had it. I have a Grumman sport boat now and it's not too bad either but I miss the Mitchicraft. Great video.
@@ddhh6552 I still have the one I bought in 1977. Never wanted to sell it. The outfit works very well for what I like to do. I like to go up river with the motor. Then float down.

@@NancyKinlaw I found that 5 gallon buckets spill water going through waves. I use a water bladder system now. I have a video of how I have it set up.
@ I didn’t use buckets, I used plastic collapsible camping containers sold at Walmart that have a screw cap

I agree. When I am out in the boat or canoe. Or even my kayak. Being around water is the best feeling.
Also. Your profile picture is one that I drew in pencell years ago.
I was looking at your picture on here. I drew that same picture a few years ago. I used pencil. Funny.
