Thank you so much for taking the time to set all this up, record demonstrating and posting it. I can't believe how little information there is on automatic transfer switches used on portable generators.
That is awesome. Specially, if you have a six or 10 circuit transfer switch system, you could set that up to where you wouldn’t have to do anything they were just stay on generator and you would just have the ATS giving out the power. Pretty slick.
That’s the best way to have it setup, that way when the power comes back and goes back in 15 minutes, you don’t have to run outside and set everything up again👍🏾
This is really nice. I'm impressed. With a propane or NG generator, you could DIY an automatic home backup for less than half the cost of an install (not to mention the 6+ month wait for an install)

Very nicely done buddy. That would work really nice Incase your out of your house and power went off, the generator would turn on and power the selected breakers you have. I think running it on propane would be the best option, so you don’t have gas sitting in the tank and it goes bad. Thanks 🙏 Gavin

That's really cool! The wire going into the ATS without any grommets is strange though.
It comes with no wiring. I just scrounge up whatever I could find to do this review.
You go to all corners of the generator universe to find solutions. I love it. The Westinghouse ST smart transfer switch looks like it has a compatible connector. Has anyone tried it on the Genmax 7250?
I actually tried the Westinghouse ST smart transfer, and for some reason it starts the generator but shut it off after a minute.
@@GeneratorReviews I'm guessing Genmax uses the same circuit logic as Duromax and is wired to the panel button, meaning it starts by holding for 1-2 seconds. Westinghouse probably uses dry contact and keeps the button circuit closed. After a period of time, it reinterprets the close as a shutdown press. I too am anxiously waiting for this to come to market so I can try on my xp9000.

Hi, Gavin! That generator/auto-transfer switch combo is great. I wonder if it'll work with other generators that have an auto-start feature. I imagine the sensor plug would be wired differently on different mfg's but I bet it wouldn't be too hard to build an adapter. Nice demo!
Genmax told me today that the ATS might be available the first part of September..
impressive unit.. this is what i have been looking for ... Also if you ever come across a product that can tell when city power is retored please share.. alot of times when on generator power its difficult to say when the power has been restored

Wonder if you can configure a genmax 3fuel with ATS , capable of automatic start on and power off, when the grid goes out, similar configuration as the permanent systems like the generac, champion etc. without the need of the interlock mechanic switch

I hope you sell a plug and play ats so Rvs can be connected to it and one of the genmax with ats. I will buy one along with the 10500 or if there is a 12000 will be great.

if your running electric central heat and you apply the automatic transfer switch. I think it won't allow the generator to come on cause it's probably going to detect more power drawing. is there a way around it ??

I have a hyundai inverter generator mod.65158, and ATS hyundai mod.65140. I installed the cables from the meter, to the ATS control unit things net input, I installed it to the 16 ampere socket of the generator, in the generator input, I left it empty, ats output , when I turn off the power the generator starts, when the power comes back it can't stop, what could it be, thanks
Sounds like there’s a problem with your ATS could be the shut off relay.
Would love to see batt in the middle of this to carry the load until the Gen kicks in.

Thanks Gavin. The ATS box looks home brewed from Russia. Where did you get it? Also it would nice to have an ATS the uses power from the L15-50R socket of the generator since I need to run it remotely about 30 ft from my garage.

Yes it does keep the battery charged

Pretty cool, but way too slow to transfer. When I fire my portable generator up I switch it to the load like 5 seconds later and have no issues. The whole process should be able to happen in less than 15 seconds which would meet requirements for life saving equipment in the home.
I would worry that, leaving gasoline in the generator for months on end, waiting for the power to go out, would cause problems with the carburetor!
If the power goes out, I’ll just manually start the generator.
The generator and the carburetor should be stored empty. This should be set up in a power outage.
Could the autostart feature work on an off grid system? To have the generator auto start when batteries are running low.

Once it comes in stock, it’s out of stock by the next day you just have to keep an eye on it try early in the mornings.

What’s keeps the generator battery from fully discharging sitting a long time on standby?
Is this for use on the RV? Wire size seems small.

The generator goes to standby mode, but this would be set up before you a power outage occurs.
I just wired it for the test. However, I would use at least 8 or 10 gauge wire for this set up.

It looks like it doesn't/you don't have a neutral connected to the generator. How do you derive two 120V legs for testing without a neutral between the two legs of the 240V? Seems suspicious and maybe dangerous.
Most generators with floating neutral don’t have the neutral cable

They’re really not the same generator because one has a 50 amp plug and the other one has a 30 amp plug

Hey Gavin, I'm a bit of a newbie. But will i be able to hook this generator up to my cerbo gx to AutoStart when batteries are low and will I need a special wire or device.
If it’s compatible with ATS ports, it will work but I haven’t seen that specific brand model yet
@GeneratorReviews according to the manual, it uses two wire auto start. I've searched everywhere on the internet, and I have not found anything with a connector that fits into this generators ATS port

Recently, we had an order pending for the GENMAX GM9000iED Inverter Generator. It was on backorder. We were notified that the GENMAX GM9000iED was discontinued and our order was cancelled. We were offered the "new" GENMAX GM9000iEDC Inverter Generator at a higher price. As far as we can tell, there is no difference between models. Nothing has changed except for the "C" in the model number. We noticed that your test unit GENMAX GM7250iEDC also has the new "C" in the model number. What has changed (except for a higher price)? Do you know? Thanks.
