These master classes are mandatory learning material and provide deep insights, not only for keyboard players. Naturally, the stories are colored according to Wim's personality. I myself have an inner story that I think about many pieces that I play. It's not a fairy tale or anything but it could be random fragments of thoughts, a memory, a landscape... That helps you retain (or evaluate or change) the interpretation, helps the motor and visual memory. But when I tried to tell my students this, they thought I was a bit strange :-)

I'm so glad I came back to your channel! Bach is definitely the dearest musician to my heart, and you capture his message in a way that needs to be heard.

I definitely remember the first time I heard that ending. I was so wordless. From confusion, from adoration, from surprise. It really is a work of genius.

Beyond the Notes is one of the best and most interesting uploads in UA-cam - not only it is played on a clavichord (in this case of Bach's Prelude, an instrument he preferred), but it help us - listeners, to reach Bach's soul, as well as the performer's soul himself, while understanding his interpretation. His analysis of the notes is not only a musicological one, but also emotional and humane. Bravo!

So inspiring. I always loved when you transform music in words. Could you please think of making an episode of Beyond the notes for WTC 1 fugue IV in C#minor? I have been studying it for some months and I am close now to play and record it. I bought all of your cds and records, all signed by you. Unfortunately, Bach organ works, vinil version, is damaged (the disc is not flat and the turntable needle blows). I wrote two emails but no replies. Please tell me how can I reach you, also beacause I wrote about you in an italian magazine and would like to make you read it. Thanks again

I was watching the whole series these past couple of days, and now a new episode... what are the odds :D
Also, I don't know if you will see this Wim, but the "fugue in c minor" episode has a mistake in the title, it says WTV book 1 :)

Maybe that's the reason he had so many children.

Just wondering, is WTC the foundation for the theme music for Amelie? I know this is off-topic, but I’m curious. I appreciate your more serious approach to WTC…!❤

Wonderful, your analysis and enthusiasm shines through! Your channel and Early Music sources I always come away with feeling both that I know so little but my musicanship is expanded :)

You are playing the piece way too fast in my opinion.
