Very stoked for this thing. I feel like we’re about to see some really well mixed modular jams on the tops of mountains and in the middle of the ocean and stuff.
Apparently it's also a 12-in 4-out audio interface, which is pretty cool. That's a pretty good deal for 10 (plus 2 master) inputs, as well as being a recorder (and compact enough to fit on my desk with my synths!)
I was sold almost the moment I saw it. I’m tapped out on inputs into my 16 in audio interface, so this as a sub mixer that can still independently record all its inputs if needed is GREAT. And being able to yank it out of my home setup for gigs is also high utility. WOOT!
My first exposure to Zoom gear was their 9002 guitar effects processor at the beginning of the nineties. It was a compact, idiosyncratic device that slotted onto your guitar strap, was surprisingly affordable and sounded amazing. Even though I haven't been a regular Zoom customer over the years, I'm glad they're still going and producing quality products well over three decades later.
Seems like a really slick little tour mixer and interface! Big board features, baby board footprint for customs, and easy to whip out and work with in a pinch. The transparency of the mix and low noise floor sold me.
I absolutely love my L20... such a workhorse for jam/shows/synthing around. I was just starting to look for a smaller format mixer for my workspace, and this pops up. Absolutely sold, and love that I can put it in my eurorack!!!
Seems to be class compliant so it should be a nice addition to an mpc! Connected via usb, you can expand your in/outs and chain up some pedals etc for a nice compact setup.
Immediately pre-ordered here in Germany. Can‘t wait for this problem-solver for me as a solo acoustic/electric performer who also sings and uses a few extras (like a Boss DR01-S rhythm maker and a Meinl Kick (stomp) pedal, plus a Dig Deep octaver for a pseudo-bass) and only has 3 inputs on the EV Everse 8 speaker. This will let me easily get everything pre-mixed that needs to go to Channel 3 (Aux) of the Everse 8. Great form factor and options! Thanks for detailing the features for us.
It's an incredible piece of gear. They are going to sell like hotcakes I'm sure. I can see stacking them around your studio as well as you buy more gear. The AUX send / return. Those are stereo TRS right? Anyway, awesome review Thanks!
Wow! This is exactly what I was looking for. I want a dawless setup in a rather limited space. Already got my eyes on Zoom L bigger brothers because of recording feature but they're just too big for my setup. This is perfect. The 2 x Aux sends on top is orgasm. The Roland P-6 Sampler and Zoom L6 are the winners of portable devices of 2024 in my book.
This is amazing! I'm building a pedalboard for my synth setup and this has the perfect footprint and enough I/O. I want to run two FX sends for my reverb and delay pedals and it is important to run them as I might have multiple synths that needs reverb at the same time. Further, since I'm submixing my keyboards I face the challenge that if I want to record a gig, I usually only have the stereo track to work with. But here I can just pop in a SD card and record keyboard tracks individually and sync everything after the fact. 1/4" jacks are perfect for my use case. I would not want to deal with 1/8" jacks in a professional setting.
Superb mixer for desktop hybrid studio , I have the L12 which is really too big and too many inputs for what I need I was going to down grade to the L8 but I may get this unit..
Im with you on the micro sd cards. Make the BIG ones, we can always use an adapter for small ones. I have a cat yo, between the cat and the vacuum……. those things been known to vanish. And while we at it, bring back the battery in phones and make em standardized across all brands by law. No more thin devices for planned obsolescence!
I agree about the tiny cards. I’ve been wanting something like this forever. Small format, a good amount of channels, mixing abilities but not taking up a lot of panel space with knobs. Recording. A perfect version for me would have double the stereo channels. Basically I like all my gear plugged in simultaneously so I can just turn it on and play, without having to plug and unplug synths. My current mixer handles the job but is the size of a normal analog mixer, ie: huge.
Seriously considering combining this with my Xenyx 1002B for live DAWless use. That'll give me two additional fx sends, and four more stereo ins' plus a few other little goodies in a seriously compact mixer!
Seems like a good unit. An audio (1-pot) compressor on the mic inputs would've been appreciated, and easy to implement. Only fault I find on the unit is location of the off/on discriminator. If one has to pick up or thumb-hold the unit when introducing channel 2 xlr input it appears easy to depress and depower. Back panel would've been better for safety's sake. How much for that RE-201?
