  • This Traditional Irish Soda Bread Recipe we used to serve in our café in Ireland! Its quick and easy to make....Its great with soup, or with your favourite sandwich filling ☘️
Hello I'm Christine, Cead Mile Failte… 𝗔𝗸𝗮 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗜𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗺𝗮…
Welcome to our home here in Ireland ☘️ I hope you will enjoy my cooking videos...
Today I'm going to bake a lovely traditional Irish soda bread. My grandmother used to make it and everyone around the country used to make it. It's very fast and easy to make. You can have it in the oven in 10 minutes. It will bake in about 35 or 40 minutes.
    𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗦𝗼𝗱𝗮 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱
    𝗜𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲
𝟰𝟬𝟬𝗴 or 2 1/2 cups 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲 all purpose 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗿
𝟭 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝘁𝘀𝗽. 𝗕𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗼𝗱𝗮/𝗯𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗼𝗱𝗮 𝐨𝐫 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐬𝐨𝐝𝐚 (sieved)
    pinch or 1/2 tsp 𝘀𝗮𝗹𝘁
    𝟭𝟰oz or 1.75 cups 𝗕𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗸
    𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞…👩‍🍳
Start with Large bowl and a sieve. Place flour in the sieve, then baking soda, and a pinch of salt. Sieve flour into bowl. Make a little well in the centre of the flour.
Then add 14 oz of buttermilk. Only putting 12 oz of buttermilk at first, stir from the outside in, work into middle, until mixed to a soft dough. Add remaining buttermilk.
Takes about 1 minute to bring to the consistency, anybody can make this, nobody should be hungry. This will be delicious with lovely soup, or anything really, maybe with some nice cheese and ham or just as lovely toast.
Place into hand and shape into round shape. Then place on tray. flatten it out a small bit and place Cross in the middle. 1 inch high.
🍳Preheat oven 200 degrees centigrade or 350 degrees F or gas mark 3.
👩‍🍳Leave for 35 to 40 minutes or till nice and golden. Top Tip... Tap to make sure hollow sound.
This is the type of bread that you can make anywhere in the world like the USA 🇺🇸 or UK 🇬🇧 which reminds you of the beautiful emerald Isle 🇮🇪 ☘️
It is a rustic bread but it's very delicious. It's lovely with butter or jam or which ever way you like it🧈🍞😊
I love cooking traditional Irish food. It's very wholesome and delicious☘️

Hello. My wife works for a group of Irish Nuns called the Sisters of the Cross and Passion. They are based in England, Dublin, and Belfast. I made this delicious bread for the sisters based here in the UK. They loved it. Thank you for the recipe. I shall make some of the other recipes on your channel. Thanks again.

My dad baked that bread every other day in our range. I don't think the bread ever lasted long enough to cool down. Hot bread and butter, an Irish staple 😋

This looks great, thank you for the tutorial. I am wanting to try this as an alternative to supermarket bread which I understand is highly processed with additives that who know what they are doing to our bodies. I wanted something quicker than yeast bread with all the kneading and proving, so will give this a try.

Thank you for your comment, homemade bread is good for you with very little ingredients. Keep looking at my videos as I have a passion for baking bread, and I hope you have too, you can add raisins, or olives and cheese and a tiny bit of chopped rosemary, happy baking from Irish grandma.

Hi, it’s great to see you interested in making Irish Soda Bread, it’s very easy to make, and bakes in approx. half an hour, sometimes when I’m busy, I get the ingredients and the utensils ready the night before and it makes it easy in the morning to make and bake in the morning. Tip. Stir it slowly and only for a few seconds until it comes together, the less handling the better, the other white soda with the egg and oil is very easy too. Happy baking.

The dough is pretty much the same as southern American biscuits without any butter or lard. I used to make them every weekend before I cut out carbs. I came across your recipe while looking for a bread to make with the corned beef I’m making for Saint Paddy’s Day (I’m going to cheat on my diet a bit). I’m not using any store bought meat either I’ve had a brisket in brine for 10 days to make corned beef from scratch. Slainté from a Detroit.

Wonderful Christine, I'll try this one too! I do miss the cuppa' and the buttered warm bread in the morn.' Nothing quite like a pot of tea and bread out of the oven. At one time my mother was bemoaning the fact that she couldn't get the right flour here in America. I ordered King Arthurs for her. When it arrived, in a case, she looked at it and said, "What in the world will I do with all this?" She was getting on in age. My favorite is brown bread...love to see you make that one and get the recipe. You may already have..I'll check your other videos. If not..?
