    This comment section is exactly why Mica went on her rant here. If you all could actually send criticism to her and how she could improve how she is in AH, then she wouldn't be on her rant here. But the fans here that just hate and insult add nothing of value besides their negativity to her, and she'll continue to ignore you because you are adding nothing on how she could improve. God I just don't like UA-cam's comment sections at all.

      Really? All she complained about was people calling her a n-word on a live stream. She then turned her rant into in off topic rant about how women are oppressed and the wage gap which has already been disproved time and time again.

      scheming Oh yeah right there is totally a gap. Its like JFK never signed the the Equal Pay Act. Its almost like everyone gets payed the same wage but men have higher average earnings. Men have more hours on average, make up nearly all work based fatalities, and generally go into higher paying jobs than women.

      I like that she's coming out, but FFS this isn't the show to do it on. This is a show where you're suppose to talk shit about funny shit. Not only that, some of the things she said such as that regarding the gender wage just isn't factually correct. At first I was in agreement with her but she just kept on going and like a lot of other people are saying, it got really cringy. I'm really starting to get a SJW/victim vibe out her.

    • @cpuandme1713
      @cpuandme1713 8 років тому +47

      What? This show by definition has No Topic. They can and should talk about whatever they want.

    • @Fangtorn
      @Fangtorn 8 років тому +57

      First, I think the people on Off Topic get to decide what Off Topic is about. Mica stopped herself from talking about it, but then Michael or Burnie told her to go for it.
      Second, she just mentioned the wage gap, she didn't mention any specifics that could be "factually incorrect". The wage gap is real, but the role of sexism as a cause is a very complex issue that economists don't agree on.
      Finally, SJW is just a term that's thrown out to dismiss anyone who talks at all about race or gender or sexuality. Like you said, you agreed with her until you didn't, and then suddenly she's an SJW/victim.
      She's just talking about her own experiences, you don't have to agree with her but you could at least respect her.

    Micah, until you identify as "Micah," and not "black bisexual woman Micah," you won't ever see the truth of it all.
    Block me for all I care, I've been a huge fan and I've loved your appearance in just about every video I've ever seen you in. Until tonight. Are there problems that only you face? Yes, I completely agree and I understand and empathize. But you are only seeing things from your perspective. Everyone has their struggles, and just because you're black, bisexual, and are a woman does not mean you have it worse than anyone else. There isn't some oppression flow chart where having x, y, and z make you able to say everything without criticism, and anyone who disagrees with your opinion or point of view is an idiot racist bigot who doesn't deserve to have a discussion with you. That's not how you have an adult conversation, that's not how you give and take in an exchange. It's not "my way or the highway," it's an exchange of ideas, and something different will come out of both.
    I do grant that you probably faced problems I never will. But at the same time, I never lived in the shadow of anyone who is well known and recognized as an important figure/character/status. And those are just two things I'll compare before ending this.
    I hope you have a wonderful day, Micah, and I look forward to your next video. I just hope you can put that crappy "black bisexual woman Micah" identity that you brought this week and instead just be "Micah." Because that's who you are, not this long ass title you decided to identify yourself as halfway through the video.

      But all of those things are a part of who she is. I don't understand how someone can identify as just themself without acknowledging aspects of their identity.

    • @KingNefiiria
      @KingNefiiria 8 років тому +36

      IG88films I am bisexual, it doesn't define who I am though.
      When all you have to say about yourself is a bunch of labels, you don't have an identity, you have a bunch of labels that make you think you have an identity.

    • @leafyxcrowy4eva
      @leafyxcrowy4eva 8 років тому +1

      that's your opinion, just because you don't like to use labels doesn't mean everyone doesn't. let mica be who she wants to be.

    • @IG88films
      @IG88films 8 років тому +4

      Terra Estrahl Okay, I think I sort of see what you're saying there. The label alone is just a sort of too-broad group identifier rather than a definer of personal experiences?
      While it is definitely too simple to say, "I am part of group x. That is who I am," I think labels can still be useful to a degree, as a starting point. Obviously that does come with issues like oversimplification and generalisation if a person doesn't move beyond that start, but if one can say, "I am part of group x. Here is how being part of this group has affected my life so far," I think that can be valid.
      And i'm sure whether or not Mica went far enough beyond the initial labels is debateable. I'd rather leave that debate to someone else, though.

    • @TheFury2o0o
      @TheFury2o0o 8 років тому +5

      +stickyapple Labels doesn't tell you anything about a person beyond your own personal biases towards that label. It's inherently meaningless to bring up in a conversation if you want it to have truly thought-provoking discussion.

    Hey. Hey everyone saying mica should "get off her soapbox."
    She wasn't even gonna go into it til Burnie encouraged her to.
    Whether you think the off topic podcast is the right time and place for it is your own opinion but the subject of race/gender/sexuality came up naturally and mica just put her opinions out there.

    Thoughts about Mica in order from beginning to end of episode:
    Start- Oh shit it's Mica, she's pretty funny. I'm excited
    Middle- Oh she likes to complain... Well it's good to get it out
    Late Middle- Oh cool she's bi, I like that she's confident... Oh she's ranting now
    End- Wow, still ranting
    Final thoughts: I like Mica, but she needs to loosen up A LOT. People don't really gone to Rooster Teeth to hear about social justice. They come to have a good time. We like hearing about problems, as long as they're funny. I'm not saying that she shouldn't talk about her problems/ minorities at all, but huge rants on Off Topic aren't appropriate for it

    • @kye_tf8507
      @kye_tf8507 8 років тому

      you can say this because i assume you dont face any of the issues mica was talking about - you can walk away from this discussion and it will have no bearing on your life, whereas what mica was talking about does affect minorities and we cant walk away from it just because we dont think a certain platform is 'appropriate' for it to be talked about. and its not like rooster teeth podcasts havent delved into more serious subject matters in the past.

    • @LeonoraTindall

      Then where is appropriate for it? Off Topic is about discussing the behind-the-scenes lives of the performers we enjoy, and that's part of her behind-the-scenes life, like Ryan's dog dying. It sucks, but that's I'm here to hear about.
      Also, I appreciate that Ryan got real towards the end too - we don't get to hear about his and Michael's experiences with internet negativity much.

      DizKord1600 Positive comments will make her feel good about herself, that's pretty straight forward, if you want to put some negative CONSTRUCTIVE criticism on here, go right ahead, good can come of that too, but just hating on someone and bullying someone isn't good at all. And no, it's not "comments I disagree with are worthless", it's "bullying is worthless", "trying to hate on someone is worthless", if you can't see the difference, you have a skewed moral compass.

    I don't have a problem with Mica. I can get behind equality, stamping out double standards, and being against prejudice of every form. I just wish she wouldn't misuse information to drive those things. (This is totally not just her. Other people do it as well.) The "wage gap" statistic has nothing to do with people who work the same job at the same company, and her view of the South and Texas outside of Austin being basically like a scene out of Deliverance is frankly strung out of her own prejudices and media fear mongering. Yes, bad things happen, but the idea that people are just going around killing black people is farcical. Also, side note: the etymology of the term "feminism" is literally gender exclusive. Maybe pick a different term to unite people for equality???
    Like I said, no hate towards Mica, just tired of misinformation.

    Mica, the problem in this case is not the world around you. It is you taking offense to things that don't matter, and seeing issues where there are none. There is still racism, but it is not overt, and it is not systemic or institutionalized. And feminism has become a bad word because it is not about the equality of the sexes. If it was, feminists wouldn't be around OR they'd be fighting for men in the legal system, because men are legitimately disadvantaged in the courts. But no, they continue to push women as victims. And black lives matter is a fucking racist movement, on par with the modern KKK. I don't care if that seems extreme, that is the state of affairs. They use violence and coercion to achieve their racist agenda. But here's my biggest issue with all feminists, black lives matter activists, and SJWs: they remove the idea of personal responsibility by saying women and minorities are victims of oppressive systems, and that their failings are a direct result of that, not of their own shortcomings. And that is a fucking DANGEROUS mindset for people, especially young college students, to have. However, you don't seem illogical, and you seem like a very awesome, but misinformed person. I ask you this question: why are you a feminist and why do you agree with the black lives matter movement if when their view points are put up to the tiniest bit of scrutiny, they range from heavily misinformed to straight up lies, and use those view points to indoctrinate young adults looking for an identity and something to be apart of. Or, in your case, feed on your self-hatred and and lack of self-esteem. Please, I urge not to take anything about these things St face value. Look into them, and look around you. Do you think the three white men sitting at that table are misogynistic? Do you think that they are racist? Transphobic? If you answer no, then you are not a feminist, and you shouldn't defend them. If you say yes, then there is very little anyone can do to change your mind. I'm just some guy on the internet with an opinion at matters as much as the next guy, but I beg you not to fall prey to the poisonous institutions of feminism and the black lives matter movement. They are dangerous to the very basic rights that every legal citizen in this country has. And they endanger our rights on the basis of FEELINGS. I push you to reconsider your viewpoints.

    • @Darkscoper
      @Darkscoper 8 років тому +3

      You need to move out from under your rock, because the problems she talks about are very much still real, and racism is very much systemic even if you can't see it with your eyes. If you can't see these things, I implore you to open your eyes and wake up.

    • @d-wizzel4217
      @d-wizzel4217 8 років тому +10

      ***** Racism is not fucking systemic. I am not racist. My friends are not racist. I've only met one racist person, and he's since changed his mind. Racism is not fucking systemic. it is not in the government, nor in the mindset of society at large. The only institution I can think of that can be argued to have a certain amount of systemic racism is the court system, but the evidence is not definitive. I will secede that racism still exists, and probably always will. However, that's a result of a country that allows intellectual diversity, and lets opinions flow freely. But racism RARELY denies people rights anymore. Yes, the KKK still exists, but tell me how much political power do they have? How about other white supremacist groups? They have very, very, very little if ANY AT ALL.The only racist/sexist groups that currently exist and have political pull are feminists and the black-lives-matter movement. They are attacking our rights to freedom of speech, freedom of assembly... Really, just the majority of the first amendment. These movements are intent on destroying everything civil rights leaders in the past have fought so hard to build. They are content keeping the old status quo of judging people SOLELY on their race, and not on their actions, and the content of their character. Racial tensions where only going down, and brotherhood going up until inter-sectional feminism and the black-lives-matter movements reared their ugly, victimized, racist, sexist fucking heads and took us all back down hill in the biggest over correction in history. I realize I kind of got off topic here. My point here is that racism is no longer an overt, systemic issue. It hasn't been for a very long time. Stop trying to fight for what has already happened, and just realize these movements aren't needed anymore. If true systemic racism pops again, I'll be right there with you fighting against it. But until then, put the megaphones and picket signs down, and go home, happy we live in a country that would judge people based on their actions and character, rather than their race.

    • @d-wizzel4217
      @d-wizzel4217 8 років тому +8

      Kaitlyn M (Forgive me, I'm not sure which comment of mine you're addressing.) Claiming there is a systemic issue of racism in the country has nothing to do with experience. It would be obvious in the ways law is structured, or the mindset of society. Listen, I understand there is racism in the world, and it is an issue. But do you really think Mica, of all people, has seen true discrimination due to her race? Perhaps in the deep south, but you cannot apply that to the entirety of the US population.
      And don't ever fucking straw man my position. It is completely intellectually dishonest. You want to refute what I said, please do. If I'm wrong, show me. But argue the points I made, not a simplified false version of what I was saying. It's really indicative of your character.
      And I'm not involved in the situation? I have payed very, very close attention to the "situation." I've done the research, I've taken an objective look at the state of affairs. And based on my research, I've found there is no systemic issue of racism in the US. I don't have to be in their shoes to understand that. Even if you are a person who is legitimately oppressed, that doesn't mean that applies to every single person of your race.
      I may not be discriminated against in the deep south, but what if I went to a black community? Or a Muslim community? Yes, indeed, I probably would be discriminated against there. Especially in the case of the Muslim community. And what is the ENTIRE black-lives-matter movement, and similar movements built around? White guilt. The idea that white people are the cause for every single issue that minorities face. You realize that's fucking racist, right? And I mean actually racist, not the bullshit definition of power + prejudice.
      Perhaps I can talk about this issue with a better mindset than those within the movement. I can see it from an objective view point. See, I used to be of the mind that feminism and the BLM movement where good things for society, that they would bring change for the better. I also used to be Christian. You know why I'm not either anymore? Because the facts don't align with your myths. Your conclusions are based on broken premises, and for a logical person like me, that won't fly. Your logic has to be airtight, and be able to hold up to scrutiny and investigation.
      I've recently been introduced to the idea that there is a healthy amount of self-doubt that everyone needs, that every person just every once in awhile has to question if every single thing they believe in is true. It's a question I've always asked myself, but never realized how useful it was. Perhaps you, and people like you, should take a good, hard, long look in the mirror and question your viewpoints, your motivation, your conclusions. I know I do. And I feel any truly logical person does the same, so they avoid becoming attached to ideas, And that's really your movement at this point. You're just attached to ideas, to afraid to let go. And I can't blame you. No one wants the world they've built around them to come crumbling down. But, that doesn't excuse the movements behavior. Everyone's world needs a little earthquake from time to time. If your buildings stand, so be it. But if they don't, accept it, and rebuild them with better foundations, so the end result is a stronger world.

      You have to realize the environment she's coming out of. When "everyone" goes to west hollywood gay bars with you gay, bi-sexual & straight friends for their 21st....and you call it "We-Ho", then you know her pier group wasn't all that representative of the rest of humanity.

    I always have trouble when there's new people around AH and I didn't really like Mica a lot because it always takes a while for me to get used to them (I hated Michael at first when I started watching RT) but after hearing her talk during this I have to say that she is now definitely one of my favorite people at Rooster Teeth. Thank you for sharing all that.

    As an African American male that has, in a frightening way, literally went through the same exact thing, this podcast resonated with me. Yes racism is still alive in all races not just the tragedy of African American history. However, like Mica said there will always be a different, personal experience with it. Not every black person feels every Caucasian citizen in the United States is out to get them, and eats fried chicken, and believes "the blacker the berry the sweeter the juice". We are all different in our own way and it isn't that hard to not generalize someone based on false stereotypes. We all eat, breathe, shit, and die at some point. The sooner we realize this basic concept that is teachable to two year old children, the better.

    I want Mica on the podcast every week, for the huge population of colored people that watch this show there is actually someone awesome here that deals with the same things that we do. I see a bunch of white dudes in the comments saying that their not entertained and I don't care that you aren't entertained! This is the Off-Topic podcast where they can talk about anything and the second someone brings up reality, a situation that reoccurs in her life everyday, where she is called racial slurs for doing her job people feel the need to oppress her more.
    -Love from so many of us from the New York rt community.

      They get uncomfortable, because they aren't being entertained......Who cares if YOU aren't being entertained..... (Not you ShadNick89) What do you do if you don't find a TV show or a movie entertaining? I certainly don't go off on the website of the show telling the actors to "Not be preachy" I would either change the channel, or walk out of the movie.... But no, everyone has to tear someone down. That is just terrible. Especially when their boss tells them to go ahead and give their opinions.....

      Exactly! It blows my mind the amount of flak she has been given, as well as people that are all like "you shouldn't allow Mica on the Podcast anymore..." Blah blah blah, when I see those kinda of people its just like "Well there's another white male asshole of a douche..." I mean seriously, when can we become more mature, and just stop watching/listening, to shows we don't like? Even if it's "supposed" to be a funny show..... It is named Off Topic for a reason, THERE IS NO TOPIC...... lol

      People get anoyed because she is not what they are used to at Off Topic, almost always funny stories and weird questions, but Mica kept going back to the stuff she was saying, people like you and ShadNick89 assume that I 'ignore racism and sexism' because I said this but that isnt the case, most people go to this channel for the funny side, not the we are all equals and are all loved bullshit. That is important but that is stuff that doesnt fit in with what the majority expected in this podcast.
      Its fine that they adress stuff like this and its important to do so, but Mica just screams (I think its partially the micriphone that is too loud but still) in the middle of a conversation about YES YOU ARE SO RIGHT and goes of on a rant about what is wrong and doesnt once say 'Im not sure' or ' Dont quote me on that.' While Burnie and Michael ALWAYS do that when they rant about something or someone they dont know personally.
      And the part where she says 'I just wanna get facked!' Is funny, except for the fact that she immidiatly after saying that says. 'That is what people hate' or 'this is why going to a gay bar like that is ok for everyone there.' She talks about generalization as a problem but does it herself.
      Michael and Ryan also generalize but dont activly in THE EXACT SAME video talk about it being a problem.

    What Burnie described at 28:23 is a thing. It's called Minecraft Factions and there's a youtuber called the Camping Rusher that does a lot of videos on it (actually I think he's a co-owner of the Archeon server).
    Basically, you start out with nothing and create a faction with other players and your goal is to raid other people's bases while trying to make your own base un-raidable by collecting the best materials and items you can possibly find. Complex battle systems and tactics are a major part of the game. It's more or less a Minecraft MMO.

    • @AlponseE1ric
      @AlponseE1ric 8 років тому +12

      It's not that people don't want to hear the truth, it's that people came for a good time, a place to relax and chill out, hear some funny stories and have a good laugh, if I wanted to hear about liberal, feminists complain I would go to an anti-trump rally, it's disliked so much just because of her nonsensical ranting, this is the very first video I've disliked from any rooster teeth related channel in 3 years

    • @abird702
      @abird702 8 років тому

      Colin Kirkpatrick True, I get where you're coming from. I guess it just depends then, because I never expect any kind of content, and I don't dislike something just because it's not what I was hoping for, I just decide when watching content whether I like it or not, so I was completely fine with her rant. Then again, I'm also all for rants about the corrupt world, so I had already decided it was fine before she even started, essentially.

    Got to learn a lot about Mica during this Off Topic. Call me whatever, I liked the entire stream from talk of gay bar fun times all the way to inequality. Whether or not she goes on the podcast is the decision of Rooster Teeth as a company, not necessarily the audience. It's a podcast about drinking and talking about shit. Don't like what's being talked about, don't watch it.

    Guys... Mica's rant was for around 20% of the episode. If you don't like it skip it. Just know that those are HER experiences and HER personal knowledge of it. No amount of statistics you take from the internet with a vague source will be able to firmly say that racism isn't still alive- because her talk showed that it is. Hell, the comment section of this video proves it is.

      HNIC LMAOO im cracking up. In all of american history we've had ONE (1) black president (who, when elected received death threats, said that he wasn't born in America, and received many other slanderous statements). White men hold 65% of all elected positions. Congress is 80% white. Yes, we are improving over time, but saying that it doesn't exist is ridiculous, especially when people still think that black people have race-specific diseases, or are dirty, or aren't worth as much as a white person.
      Also, a comparison between media coverage (this was on my local news channel) a LOST DOG received more coverage than 700 Africans who drowned trying to escape violence in their country.
