The two-time defending champ Broncos begin life without John Elway after the QB's retirement, as they open the season against Marino and the Dolphins on MNF.
Thanks for the video. Sounds weird, but the 1999 Broncos were one of the best teams that only won 6 games. Their DVOA for that season was 5.7%, which ranked 14th that year ahead of the 13-3 Colts, and the 11-5 Bucs. They lost a lot of close games that could have gone either way, and were pretty competitive. Injuries to key players, and of course the absence of John Elway cut them down to size.
They reminded me of the 2008 Packers. Aaron Rodgers in his first year as a starter, a good team with a lot of great, young players, they just didn’t win a lot of games that year, losing 7 of 10 games by 4 points or less.
Wow this game was litterally recorded in my home area in Florida. I'm from Merritt Island in Brevard County. Seeing these hurricane warnings are making me miss my home State
Remember thinking Broncos wouldn’t be very good, then I as we got closer to opening night, I got in fan mode and thought there was hope. By the end of this game, I knew the season and quite possibly an era was over.
Man We had a great WR core in 1999; Tony Martin, Yatil Green, Oronde Gasden, OJ McDuffie, and Troy Drayton. Man, if We didn't have Jet Lag against the Jags maybe we could've pulled it off.
This was so typical Marino, after-all it is the REG. SEASON. Dan put up over 30 pts. against the '98 Broncos Defense in the REG. SEASON, and over 30 here against the '99 Broncos D in the REG. SEASON, but in between was a big PLAYOFF GAME against the Broncos and Marino puts up all of 3 total points in that PLAYOFF GAME. Dan was playoff challenged.

Back when being on mnf felt like a big deal
Oh yeah!!!! And there was none of that kneel down nonsense over criminals getting shot and killed.
@@JThom-yh3ef major yikes
Interesting to listen to Al Michaels and Boomer Esiason as the MNF broadcasting duo, knowing that those two couldn’t stand each other
If only Marino and Ricky played together....Domination!
And still no ring
When Dan Marino and the dolphins smashed the broncos super bowl victory celebration
They certainly couldn’t do it in the playoffs
@ManuelFlores-oe2wf john Elway should had stayed one more year I bet there was no way he was going to keep up with the greatest show on turf in '99
40:55 Blocked FG was the turning point
1:18:00 AL Wilson's 1st nfl tackle was brutal. Wilson was beast mode.
"Mike Shanahan has never lost a season opener" thanks for jinxing the broncos Lissie😉
The rematch of the 1998 AFC divisional playoff won by the Broncos. Also the 30th year of ABC Monday Night Football.

This was probably the beginning of the end for Mike Shanahan's tenure as Denver Bronco's coach. He was a great motivational coach.
The Full 2002 Dolphins @ Broncos MNF (Olindo Mare GW 53 yd FG) would be legendary. Never forget Chambers getting carted off & wanting blood.
Love the 99 games
RIP Rod Smith!
Would you happen to have 49ers vs. Rams from Week 17 of 2015 since they're matching up on SNF this week?
I dont like either team but even I can acknowledge this was the year when mnf had the absolute best ever intro.
Was that hurricane Andrew of 92? I don't remember a hurricane in 99? that looks like a cat 5 cyclone. 0:00
Hurricane Floyd. It missed Florida and went to the Carolinas instead.
video totally glitches out at 1:10:20 and audio is out of sync for rest of the game
ah, sorry, wasn't aware of that. but audio is only off by about a second, and seems to fix itself near the end
Can you post the 2001 MNF game between the Dolphins and Colts?
sorry, think i'm missing that one
@@simonbrophy256 thank you!
@@frankiesacco thank you!
9:40 I thought it was incomplete even by todays rules about making a football move/one or two steps etc
0:40 MNF Intro
That was embarrassing for the Broncos to get destroyed like that.
Griese had promise but I’m convinced when he fucked up his shoulder against the Raiders in 2000 which ruined his career.
The Broncos first season without John Elway
Shannhan is nothing without elway
Almost got to the SUPER BOWL in 2005 they lost in the AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.
then we beat them in the afc championship 38-3
That was the afc divisional playoff in 98
That was the year prior in the divisional round. For someone who uses "we" you don't know much about your team.
