- This test for the Kia Cerato is at the request of our viewers. It is nearly at the end of its lifes cycle and the new one is about to launched. Still, it is a pretty good car, and probably one of the best 1.6 litre sedans you can get. It is a C segment sedan, according to its wheel base.
i bought the 2.0L back in 2014.. still driving it till now 2020.. no problems at all.. love the car ...

@@aqiemhan9901 : Indeed.... just this couple of week... my cerato giving me headache.. but wht do u expect, nearly 7yrs, wear tear happen... just replace, new brake pad (front + rear), service breaking system coz jammed, change the radiator motor assy, change spark plug, change ATF...hehehehe... but performance superb... proud of my cerato...

Hi uncle, I'm glad to tell you that there IS a 2.0L variant. Its the Kia Cerato K3. I went to see a unit today. 2nd hand, one owner, 10/10 condition selling for RM50k on the road with insurance. Really convinced on getting it even more after watching this video. Its a fantastic car. After test driving it, I'm even more impressed. Handling, performance, comfort. Top notch. There is that conti feel if you know what i mean. FIND THE 2.0L VARIANT AND BRING IT UP TO GENTING!!!!!!!

It's a gem for us used car buyer. It has the handsome looks and it's rarely on the road compared to other good looking cars so it's still a head turner each time.

i've been a proud owner of this car for 5yrs plus already, the one pre-facelift...never had any engine breakdown, just minor electronic issue that which handled greatly by Kia SC...very good QC of this cbu unit...very good value for money for me...now that i want to upgrade to another segment, its such a sad for me to finally say goodbye to this car... :(

@@harithdanial7831 for me, in city drive ranging around 8.8 - 9.4 L/100km...on highway with steady speed around 7.3 - 8.3 L/100km..i think its quite decent, considering im quite a 'reckless' driver 😂

Thanks a lot for test drive Kia Cerato, Uncle Khong. i hv been driving previous gen 1.6SX Forte for the past 6 years, its surprised me with its build quality and handling, never thought of a Korean car can hv this kind of driving fun. I was one of those who never look at a Korea brand and worship Japanese car for their reliability. But Kia really surprised me.

Nice and very neutral review on this car. I am owning this car but at the price of an AMG A45(Singapore registered, with only 10 years of ownership)....felt so much better with uncle's positive review ....

Same engine+gearbox pairing with my 2012 elantra MD, tested out on dyno which shows about 87whp. Would feel massively underpowered as in the 1.6 Forte 4-speed, but the 6-speed gb does make a significant difference there :D

@@vivekchin2 Mine’s the 2017 version. Still driving it. Hasn’t given me any issues so far.
I send it for servicing about every 6 months and generally it only costs me on average between $200 to $500 sgd for servicing. (Servicing cost depends on how many things I had to replace, e.g. sparkplugs, on top of the servicing cost)
Current Kia models are good in ride and handling.

@@lililolo3199 yes sis, 6speed FC much better, for example from rnr tapah i topup full petrol going back to Melaka speed around 80-90kmh sampai Melaka only used 3 bar Petrol.
From bandar ipoh full tank balik to Melaka and singgah Cameron sekejap, after that turun balik and masuk highway I terus speeding 160kmh to Melaka still ada balance 3 bar petrol, masuk area shah Alam and elite highway i drive normal la, masuk highway selatan terus i speeding (170kmh 4K RPM), (130kmh 3K RPM)
i drive jalan kampung not much traffic lights traffic jem can get 700km sampai lampu petrol menyala but depends cara driving but i always drive under 75kmh.

Owned kia spectra5 hatchback 2008, never had major problems or repairs for 8 years before i sold it. Urban driving can give me 500km plus before refueling

2018 Cerato owner, I think the steering feel and transmission still got some room to improve
I thought it felt good. Perhaps you can go get a good alignment job done. Try toe out in front about 0.6 mm each side.
@@YSKhongDriving ok, I will try that. I think it is okay for daily drive but if you want to compare to another same segment competitor with like Honda Civic, it feel just so so.
@@rikimalu1 hard to compare, civic is 1.8 and this is 1.6. i did some fine tuning and change to Iridium spark plug, it become different.

Don't be sorry Uncle next time I ask you for selfie😉. Yes the Nasi Kandar is good and the boss is generous RM11 for a whole drumstick with a veg lots of sause and rice with lots of papadom👍. You can try their pork noodle cook by a young foreign worker which gives lots of meat or the prawn noodle cook by an Uncle soup base prawn enough ohm👍

Hi TwinStars - I re-checked the video - 14.44 - Noted. Our biggest problem is the 'washout' from the difference in lighting inside and outside - there is a way to change the focus point so that we get the cam to focus on the outside rather than the dark area of the dashboard, but sometimes the camera does not work well. Also, there is another Windscreen view, so we toggle between one or the other. We run 3 cameras most of the time. We are constantly trying to improve. Anyway thank you very much - your feedback is important.
Some of our viewers like the split view - we will try to strike a balance.
Nice video n I really admire your driving skill. Anyway, Cerato didn’t sell well simply because of its Korean marquee n poor resale value. I once owned a Kia Forte, quite a nice car, l bought it immediately after it’s launched n got the CBU car for 82K back in 2009. The trade in value for it was 15K when I opted for a Civic last year.
If considering RV then only choices were 3 main brands - T, H and P. Yes you’re right on RV for cold brand cars. Honda City after 10 years still worth 20k today. But the Forte you bought was C segment compared to the City. Does the price difference of 5k worth it? Only you would know - technology given, driving experience, comfort, etc
I think the demand differ now.. i sell my forte 2011 6peed forte in jan2019 and i get 20k..
for me, fair enuf, 8year car, remaining value 25% from ori price.. i sell to MUV..

Actually nowadays second hand values for cars is not so good - our finance market is tailored towards new cars. For used cars you need 30 percent down, versus new cars only 10 percent.

Eco mode helps to save fuel. No harm will come to the car if you engage it all the time, but your life might get very boring.

My mum has the Forte, although 1.6 but the car has been really solid. We've had it since 2011 and it's given us no problems at all so far . Go for it :D

The two are about the same power; Cerato has a 6 - speed which I like, and Cerato is actually a C segment car. However, Vios would have better second hand value. Tough decision

I’m considering between a used Kia Cerato 2.0 and a new Toyota Yaris. Uncle what do you think of both of these cars and who is it targeting for?
As you can see in the video, and also my review, the Cerato is the size of a C segment sedan; the 2.0 is a bonus, if you can get one. The thing you have to grapple with is that one is new, and smaller, but with a new car smell and warranty, while the other is older, but has higher performance, is bigger, but no warranty, plus being a used car.

At the moment, Cerato only has one variant, so no 2.0 is available. I believe a new model is coming soon, so we will wait.

im using 2.0.. drive normal mode frm JB to KL only consume 3 Bar - RM30 (price during rm2.++/L)

Maybe the next time you should place your items in a way that it doesn't move around during spirited driving. All the creaking and knocking sound doesn't do justice to any cars under testing circumstances. Just my 2 cents.
