This was my exact thought, when he mentioned a small amount of medication, I immediately went to "ohhh, ADHD meds I bet".

@@derpedfox I was diagnosed a few months ago, at 35. It has helped. I can understand who I am, how I am, why I am the way I am. I'm not on medication yet because of some unrelated health concerns, but I really look forward to finding a bit of calm. It's worth at least knowing if you have it.

I did not expect this video to be so insanely comforting. Almost felt like facetime call. Watching someone doing something they’re not an expert at is just so great. I think not being the best at something, holds me back a lot of the time. You start comparing yourself to social media etc. But this is so much more genuine and real. The end and seing the final result was just so satisfying. I honestly think Kevin could make anything entertaining, by just being himself. So excited to see your next project❤
I don't expect Kevin will ever read this but, I find the casual talking in between so comforting. Kevin really shows some emotional maturity. Idk just makes me feel like he's in a better place now, which is so good to hear. I know we all just want the best for him.

My favourite part of this is Kevin talking about his mental health battle. As someone who came home from being diagnosed with adhd and suspected autism it was a relief to see Kevin's video the same day talking about the same thing. Seeing him do this project honestly putting it off is very relatable. I have half finished art works and projects everywhere and its like... Im not broken and will finish theses things one day, maybe in a few years but i will finish. Thank you Kevin
This might be the most diverse content in one channel. Games, tv show reaction, ADHD diagnosis, learning to skateboard, now renovation. I'm here for it all...sometimes. When I feel like it. Much like his content... For real though, I wish I could do it. Just whatever I want, and get paid for it. Not saying editing isn't the real work being done here.
kevin repeatedly calling himself lazy while doing a massive project that took him literal years to do is pretty nuts. this is probably how i sound to my friends when i call myself lazy when i write "only" 500 words a day instead of 3k words and has inspired me to be less mean to myself. thanks, kevin!

I mean if he wanted it done faster he should have just ripped everything out. Made sure everything got sealed and rebuild the floor and walls. Trying to work around well old crap stuff will always take longer.

Kevin renovated a caravan by himself and I deep cleaned my room after a 6 month depressive episode. I know it seems small comparing them, but I'm proud of both of us. No matter what you did today, big or small, whether it took 3 years or 3 hours, I'm proud of you

I never had a strong male presence growing up and in a weird way kevin always filled the hole in my heart so watching a video like this, where hes able to do more "dad" things like DIY and doing it by showing his way and laughing about making mistakes felt really special. I hope kevin has kids one day because he will be an incredible dad.
i really appreciate kevin's honesty and journey in this video. getting diagnosed and getting treatment for what many people were told was "laziness" or "procrastination" is important and eye-opening to finally getting help for a problem that people just suffered through because they weren't aware it was a condition in the first place. the bar-avan looks phenomenal and i thoroughly enjoyed watching through this entire process! i'd love more videos like this, and im happy for kevin branching out to do things he wants to do on top of making the funniest content on youtube.
I love watching fellow ADHDers get into long projects that we totally not anticipated the extent of well with barely a plan at all but still manages to pull through.
It's my favourite genre of videos and my favourite life philosophy.

I like how this DIY project is so much more realistic than most on youtube. With all the exhaustion at the frustrating parts and the quick fixes and the corner cutting and the procrastination. It's not perfect but you truly did it yourself for yourself and that's what really matters in stuff like this.
This was exactly my thought. I'm adhd too, and this is exactly the kind if nonsense I'd get into. I'm going to assume he's on medication now though, given he's actually finishing it. 😅

I'm guilty. I started a micro camper project 3 years go, brought everything for it but procrastinated for 2 years before even attempting it. Took another year to get to where i am now (95%), i still need to carpet the walls and upholster the seat/ bed. Being a perfectionist I'm anxious in doing it in case i mess up and have a crease or something, i will never be able to unsee it! haha.

Average skill diy is sooooo much more interesting than "I'm actually a master carpenter and spend 90% of my time creating masterpeices" diy. This was genuinely fun to watch and oddly uplifting. Thanks, Irish man!

This is my favourite video you've ever made. PLEASE do more things like this - it's so refreshing to see a renovation video that is actually done single-handedly, and actually reuses so much "waste", it's really inspiring. The fact that you had both your usual comedy style and more serious, heartfelt talks to camera was a really good blend. So excited to see what your next project is!

It's funny, I'm in a similar boat. Just been very depressed. I shouldn't be, everything's been going great. Graduated Uni, got a full time job right out of college, the girl of my dreams is talking to me seriously. But I have no motivation. This video made me feel...*something*. I don't know what, but I want to do something like this. Oddly enough, it just gives me motivation to do *things*.

'SHOULD' is a word filled with judgment, and I don't think that judging your state of mind will lead you to a better place"(paraphrased because I can't exactly quote her😅)
Yeah, things may SEEM like they're going okay, but if you're feeling this way to Begin with, there is clearly something wrong. Something is missing and you don't know what. If you are feeling this way, my advice is to simply ask yourself what you think may be missing. Saying that things should be fine is like saying that the Sun should be shining on a stormy day. Maybe it isn't shining, but the Sun is still there. When it's ready and it knows why it won't shine in a storm, it will eventually come out with the storm to make a rainbow 🌈-accepting the fact that it WASN'T gonna shine today, but now it's comfortable enough to shine along with the storm. So whatever you're going through, instead of saying what it should be, ask yourself why it isn't, and what can be done about it, and what you can learn from it.
This is a process on its own. In a way, I'm going through the same thing. It takes years to figure out and to accept. I hope that whatever storm you're going through passes with flowers 🌹🌺 newly bloomed on its wake. Be kind to yourself and remember your humanity. We aren't perfect and everything is feeling some way or another for a reason. Thank you for reading this and I wish you nothing but the best.😊
@@MoonstarSpace06 That is such a lovely sentiment, and one I don't think I've ever heard before. Though, I suppose I have heard similar ones- a favorite of mine is from the brother of one of my mom's oldest friends, that is just a great reminder when you feel bad about feeling bad: 'just because you aren't suffering the _most_ doesn't mean you aren't suffering' (also a paraphrase), it's great to be compassionate for others, but we so often forget to have compassion for ourselves!
Anyway, I hope you (and me, and everyone, I suppose) are doing well and wish you the best of luck moving forward!
Kevin! I'm a certified RV Technician and I am so proud of you! That was a beast of an undertaking and you did a great job, way to go!
I'm not sure what you already know and have already done, but I do have some tips if you'd like them:
1) To make extra sure no more water leaks in through the roof, seal all the roof fixtures on the edges and screws with Dicor self-leveling RV sealant.
2) To seal the edges of the roof around the trim that connects to the side walls of the body, use non-sag Dicor RV sealant. Cover the trim with tape (Dicor is messy and hard to clean) and smooth the Dicor into the nooks and crannies. Make sure to peel the tape before the sealant dries too much though or it could take the sealant with it.
3) In the future, if you ever decide for whatever reason that you want to paint the exterior again, remove the metal trims and window frames beforehand and paint them separately, then stick some Butyl tape onto the backs before reinstalling them. And seal the edges and screws with clear silicone to prevent future water damage. But on the windows, don't seal the bottom with silicone, that way if water does get in somehow, it has somewhere to escape. (To smooth out silicone, spray it with soapy water before you run your finger over it)
4) I'm not sure what kind of wallpaper you're using but if it's durable enough that it won't get damaged by tape then you could use the hinge method. So if anything happens to it and you need to redo it or touch up a section, leave the backing paper on and tape around the edges to hold it where you want it, then run a long piece of tape across the middle to serve as a hinge. Peel the backing paper off one half and use a squeegee/scraper with a felt edge to smooth the paper out as you go, then peel the tape and do the other half. You might also be able to remove some of the bubbles by poking teeny tiny holes in them with a scalpel and lightly running a heat gun over it. Be gentle when pushing the air out of the bubbles so you don't tear the paper.
5) To secure the edges of the floor and ceiling to prevent rolling or peeling, you can just add some snazzy molding trims to anchor them.

Yeah this is info gold here. Not sure he glued the vinyl carpet down, but I was planning on recommending trim and silicone. It's that last step that takes your project to the next level for sure.
As a person who is obsessed with tiny homes, and DIY renovation projects, this was a refreshing video to watch from you! As a tip, having used the fake wood wallpaper you put on the ceiling, you can get the bumps and bubbling out, and secure it by using a hair dryer on it!! I used that method on my kitchen cupboards, and the heat helps the glue adhere to rounded surfaces better :)
This was an absolutely beautiful journey that I don't think normal folks would appreciate if it was their first video they watched from Kevin. Knowing the struggles of ADHD, tackling such a huge project, FINISHING the project, and being happy with the outcome, it's all so inspiring. Thank you for sharing this with us, Kevin.
It's probably because I'm 30 now and therefore ancient in internet terms, but watching a DIY renovation video mixed with Kevin's humor and style was exactly what I wanted without realizing it, I'd love to see more of this in the future

I'm 38 minutes into the video and I can confidently say that this is my favourite video of Kevin. Especially the part where he talks about his mental health, I could relate to it a lot. Honestly made me feel much better and it reminds me that Kevin has a life outside his content
That part was really meaningful for me too. Something about the camera angle and Kevin’s humbleness made it a really cool moment I think.
As someone who has just really accepted that I do have ADHD, it's refreshing to see someone tackle a project the same way as I would. I get so disappointed in myself when i see people tackle projects with a clear plan and follow through with it.

Honestly, the real talk you had at 14:50 is honestly really relatable. And comforting hearing that others go through the same thought process. Ive been struggling with the same thing for a long time. Always worrying about the little things, always seemed so hard to focus on the bigger picture when i would worry about every single little detail. @@Aemos7they are still!! from what i’m understand, anna was in norway for a few weeks for a big boujee chess event, so i think kevin went back to ireland so he wouldn’t be bored and lonely :)) she just posted on her instagram this morning talking about some things they were doing this week, so we have confirmation they’re still together haha
I watched this in the background while cleaning and packing moving boxes, and worrying about the move and how unprepared I feel. Seeing Kevin take on a big project, not knowing how to do it but trying anyway, and being so open about the process and his feelings, and it turning out so nice… It really calmed me, and inspires me to want to try and just trust it will work out. It’s funny how Kevin never fails to cheer us up 😊

You should be really proud that you completed this major project! As someone with ADD I have a garage full of half done projects and being able to put your nose to the grindstone and complete stuff is something I deeply respect.
Coming from a guy who builds house's and does lots of demo and reno jobs I really think you have talent at this never sell yourself short. The one thing I've discovered in the years of doing this job is sometimes the worst enemy is yourself and your capable of so much. Keep up the great work love you lots your videos definitely have helped me get through a lot
Everyone note Kev's attention to safety when breaking down sheet goods on the table saw. He stands a little bit or all the way to the side of the workpiece so that in the event of kickback, it doesn't blast him in the old marital gear. He also holds the material by the side and doesn't reach behind the blade to pull it through, because that can instantly pull your hand through the blade. He has the riving knife and guard in place, he's referencing the rip fence, and he's got side and outfeed support all around. Safely breaking down plywood, solo, on a little jobsite table saw, is all just technique. Nice! I've seen handyman tv presenters with their own shows who didn't follow these practices.
PS: it looks great. I'd be proud if I did this!

52:15 When he's saying it'll look like a design choice but it was really improv to fix a mistake he made - it reminds me of every video you see of people trying to follow along to Bob Ross's paintings. They always mess up somewhere in what they're trying to paint, and then they recover, and their painting just ends up being different. It's analogous to people trying to be something/someone, or a goal you're trying to reach. It happens, and it can be cool when it happens.

if the wrinkles on the ceiling are still bothering you, use a heat gun (or even a hair dryer on a heat setting) LIGHTLY over the spots and you can use the mini hand roller you have to roll the wrinkles out more easily. this project turned out really well, you did a phenomenal job with this.
Hi Kevin, I know this will get absolutely lost in a sea of thousands of comments, but I just wanted to say that it’s nice to see such a genuine and positive person who doesn’t show you just the amazing beautiful parts of life but all the difficulties as well. I'm usually too shy to comment on videos, but I have to chime in on this one. Kevin, this was an absolute delight to watch! The blue that you picked for the outside of the caravan is gorgeous. And the final result? I figured it was going to look good, but I am blown away by how amazing the caravan looked at the end with everything decorated inside! All that hard work turned into such a wonderful, cozy space, and it was so much fun to see the journey to get there. I genuinely hope you'll share more videos like this with us in the future, with this next big project of yours and any others you might dive into!
Kevin, this video was awesome! As someone whose antidepressant needed a friend (which is another antidepressant/anti-anxiety med), I’m glad you know yourself enough to take care of your mental health and get on medication if needed. There’s so much stigma behind it so seeing someone be candid about it is refreshing. And at the end of the day, you should be your first priority. Keep doing what makes you happy. Fans will just be happy for you (:

This project felt so much more relaxed when I could just sit and listen to what you're saying rather than worrying about focusing on gameplay or something. One of the best things I've found for helping my depression is having a project and some manual labor. Sometimes, just working with you hands, figuring stuff out without a step-by-step guide, adding the final details and basking in the warmth of your creation does wonderful things for your head. The Baravan looks phenomenal. Good work mate.
and big things! like as opposed to little fiddly things. eg i love sewing but my brain just can't handle it when i'm in a bad spot. so i gotta figure out something with larger bits so i can still do stuff and not get bored lol
i'm the opposite lol. having an ongoing project gives me severe anxiety and dominates my every thought until its finished or scrapped. and it causes me to become very depressed. as sad as it is, i feel much better with absolutely nothing going on.
As someone who has watched Kevin for years, it's been so great to grow together in a sense. Around the time he felt like giving up I was at my end as well, and watching this video, when I'm now at a good point in my life taking on my own giant task. It just feels like I'm not alone, that I get to watch a friend push through the hard stuff and show me it will all come together

As someone with Autism and ADHD who used to be a perfectionist, it's definetly a character flaw. But one you can work past.
What helped me personally, was intentionally appealing to my hatred of hypocrisy. I imagined what I would think if a friend was in the situation I was in/did the job I did and what I would think of them/how I would treat them.
And then I forced myself to treat myself like that. After all, treating myself differently would be hypocritical towards my friends.
It takes a long time to go from "treating myself like that" to "Thinking of myself like that" but I'm getting there. And it's so worth it. It allowed me to do so many good things, to finish my apprenticeship, to cook more, to do more creative things, to clean more etc.
I of course don't know if this would work for you, but I just wanted to share. Also, congrats on the meds! I'm happy you're getting them! 😊

I am really none to have a parasocial relation to youtubers, but I will say: Having one of my fave youtubers also go through a mental health crisis, and basically renovating a huge project, while GREATLY overestimating your own skills is kinda healing and... nice. That video was such a vibe and really made me happy in a way. LIke hell yeah. not alone.

What was more impressive however, was how you maintained such a positive mindset and accepted the imperfections as part of the journey. Wow I really didn't expect to enjoy this as much as I did. I really love this Era of 'famous' people just doing what they want to do. The internet needs a huge dose of individuality and seeing people you look up to doing something that genuinely excites them even if it's hard (and not hiding that struggle either thank you)

Having a little caravan or RV is like the retiree version of having a treehouse. It's just a small space that you can escape to and relax without any of your normal day-to-day worries bothering you. I'm glad Kevin kept it up, and now has a quiet little space to look at (while avoiding touching) grass occasionally glimpse the sun when it chooses to shine.
I haven’t watched Kevin in years, this is some cool character development. Using his skills for good instead of evil like he usually does.
The talk at 14:55 really made me think about myself. A few years ago I was outwardly functional but now that I've mostly recovered I realise that I had completely shut down.
I know that I still don't feel regular emotions but thats partly because I'm still shut down and also because of Autism. More than anything I was thinking about when I saw my girlfriend crying outside the room and nobody else had noticed yet. I felt the emotions that I should've but still didn't do anything. And on Thursday my brother died, I didn't know him so I didn't care but everyone esle in my family who didn't know him are acting like it's a tragedy. Thank you Kevin for letting me look back at myself.

It feels like you always talk down on yourself, in a jockingly manner a lot of the time of course, but it's nice to see other aspects of you where you show skills that we never knew you had. Due to various circumstances, both lucky and unlucky, I’ve ended up in a house all by myself that needs a lot of renovations. I’ve made a decent amount of progress and watching Kevin work on this project gave me so many moments of empathy. I felt so seen with the bloody painters tape and not wanting to waste something that can still have a use. Can’t wait to see the next project
