  • Andrew Zimmern is a chef, restaurateur, author, and Emmy Award-winning food TV pioneer. You can catch his latest series, Family Dinner with Andrew Zimmern, Sunday nights on Magnolia Network, and Wild Game Kitchen is coming later this year to Outdoor Channel. But how is he with spicy food? Zimmern may have traveled the globe eating chilies in Northern Thailand and mala hot pot in Chengdu, but he's never faced hot sauces like Da Bomb and The Last Dab Apollo. Watch him check "Hot Ones" off his bucket list and share wisdom on everything from the cultural significance of supermarkets, to how birria tacos took over social media.

Many years ago Andrew went to Indian, Alaska to Indian Valley meats to try “moose nose jelly” made by my grandfather and the happiness it brought him for Andrew and the show to come see him was unimaginable. He couldn’t wipe a smile off his face for months. He died in 2020 while I was on my way to Afghanistan and if he went through some of his happiest moments in his life as he took his last breath, I would bet that his time with Andrew was pretty up there. This is the first Hot Ones that actually made ME cry. It seems so bonkers to me that we as a species follow the example of some of the most disconnected, self-aggrandizing, arrogant and entitled people when there're thoughtful solutions to real problems presented by wise and caring people. I can hear in Andrew's voice a sort of resigned acceptance that people won't internalize the information he's giving, that he sees what's coming and knows we won't fix it, but he and many like him are going to keep giving us the tools. I admire him and the ways in which he uses his energy, time and passion. I hope more people start following his example.

There's definitely room for improvement. But I don't see a good solution if we want our food "globalized." What the food industry has become is because "WE" demanded it. Our favorite foods EVERYWHERE, ANYTIME, and AFFORDABLE. It's an impossible task any way you slice and try to fix it.
You make it "healthy and organic" and now it costs to much and isn't plentiful enough. You make it cheap and available and now it's GMO'd and "not healthy" for you etc etc.

Grew up watching him on Travel Channel.. His bizarre foods show opened me up to a whole world, going from a super picky kid to an absolute garbage disposal of anything edible. Can't thank this guy enough for opening my eyes.

As a Wisconsinite it greatly appreciated the nod to Culver’s. I’ve been saying for years that their burgers could go up against anyone. You can have your In-n-out!

I'm from Wisconsin and now live in Kentucky. We have a Culver's about 30 minutes away. When I discovered it I finally felt like I was home. Although there is still nothing like getting Culvers in Wisconsin. Also Kwik-Trip pizza. Described to a T. But the best hot dogs.

Yeah, that got him in trouble with Dave Grohl. He was a bit messy by the end, hilariously so. Dave matched him wing for wing, and Sean shot for shot, and while Sean has a tolerance for hot sauce, he had none for alcohol. Dave, apparently had a tolerance for both.
