This woman is amazing ! This is how I conceptualized it , based on Tara's notion that Literature Review locates a GAP (in knowledge) - in post-structuralist thought ,in the interstitial space where structural relations take place, there must be an empty space, which allows for change and dynamic interactions to happen between the real and imaginary. Well, this empty space is a gap in the current knowledge within the space of your literature. We must locate that empty space, which allows us to form the new knowledge nodes (sorry I am very visual type), that is an original contribution to knowledge. Like in the films, 'maguffin' is the object that drives the story; our research subject is our maguffin, which moves the limitations of current knowledge and uses the empty space for the new content to take place. Cheers to all
I am so grateful for this video. Thanks again Tara.I don't know how I would survive PhD writing during lockdown without your vlogs. This video explained like no one has ever, the parameters and possibilities for the literature review. I was so confused about what my new supervisor was now asking me to do in my final write up after years of being told that my literature review had been incorporated throughout my practiced based exegesis.
Such a helpful video! It reminds me of the methodology aspect of a PhD proposal, it can be easy to start overlooking how important the fundamental parts (like a literature review) can be :)
Thank you so much Prof. Tara for sharing your knowledge on how to organize our literature review. Thanks also to our Professor, Dr. Mervin Gascon for introducing your vlog to us. This is indeed very helpful. :)
Fantastic tips. Is there anything fundamental about the lit reviews that one does for a conference paper or journal article, or is it helpful to apple the the same thinking
Apologies for my typo. I was really asking if there are any significant differences between lit reviews in phds, conference papers and journal articles, or is it just the scaling?
Ma'am, I have a question about interpretation in qualitative journal articles. You said that the literature review is not about facts but about interpretation. Isn't the interpretation already there in the paper? As a Ph.D. student, what extra interpretation am I supposed to do? Where do I start?

Literature reviews are like the clues that build up to the crime of your original research.
This is the best video on literature reviews I have seen. Thanks so much Tara
Not sure what I'd do without your wisdom. Your videos keep me grounded and on task. Thank you so much.

Would integrated reviews be classed as narrative reviews?
