That chirashi bowl was insane in the best way! Even more reason for me to go to this lovely little country and Eat All The Things, inspired by you, Mike!
Hi Mike, I visit the Hougang food court almost every morning around 11am and the braise duck store is defiantly one of my favourites among all the stores there!!! The chilli fried anchovies along with the rice is definitely one of the best combination! 🥰 It’s a pity I missed or didn’t notice you when you were at Hougang especially at the food court you visited! Hope to be able to see you in Singapore again & also I hoped you enjoy your visit here! 😊
I'm going to Singapore to see my family in February and my favorite is chicken rice all time!! Can't wait to eat this and some amazing food at Singapore in a couple months! :)
Does Mikey now live in Singapore with the Misses...whatever happend to the Texas and NY restaurants he partnered to open or his Texas home he just got and got rid of the Seattle place?
We are staying near the Hougang Hainanese Market. Every weekend we would taobao the Mingfa braised ducks and aunt would gave us the gravy and pack of their signature chilli. I would then cook plain porridge and a few side dishes at home and the whole family would get to enjoy it aka the Teochew style porridge. Delicious. Definately one of the best ones around this area.
U should go to Hup Seng duck rice to experience more authentic duck rice …. Their salted vegetable duck soup is legendary too … they are located at Sin Ming road
Upon your video recommendations, I went to this Omote and tried their salmon belly bowl and it’s so fresh and satisfying! Didn’t try the chirashi bowl from your video as it’s too big, I had a hard time finishing my usual bowl. Btw, it’s around Sgd$38++ for that chirashi goodness if anyone wanna go. Pls also factor in 17% gst and service charges.
oh no, i totally feel you on that. finally getting to travel but your body isn’t cooperating 😖 it’s ok, the food scene in sg is always bustling and waiting for you 😄
Hey Mikey, you are back in Singapore!!! Have you try the Urban Hawker in Midtown Manhattan? There are (I think) about 17 Singaporean stalls there selling authentic Singapore hawker dishes.
the giant chirashi bowl is only available from the omote branch in Thompson plaza. The Raffles city branch is more a korean/japanese fusion restaurant and does not sell the same items as the branch Mikey visited. Standout dish for me was the soft shell chilli crab.
Wow you came to my area to have a meal! If I knew, I would had invited you to a food tour of the area! I'm also a foodie and I will surely feed you well!
Mike, you should try Punggol bak chor mee at the same hawker centre. Yee, the stall owner, cooks faster than most people with two arms! And there's another very underrated chicken rice stall at one popular hawker centre that you should try one day...
Am I the only one suffering from the sound of the metal chopsticks against the porcelain bowl? I swear there's no redeeming feature to metal chopsticks.
i live alone and it gets lonely sometimes so watching mike's videos while eating feels like i have a companion with me
Same..
I felt that.
❤❤
Same
The Singapore series is the gift that keeps on giving 😋💗

The chicken rice you tried is quite famous around the area. The steamed chicken is more tender and better than the roasted one.
