The only thing you can play after this.... is this again.
How the hell this video has only 230k views! It's pure magic for the ears. My GOD. WHAT A BEAT!
Hidden Gem
jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezus
Holly Marry Mother of Jesus , this is God s gifted people !!!
It is a masterpiece fosho!
Same with Lady Gaga sings ,,I wish,,
from Steve Wonder
Not even 700.000
You got a gift ...do not expect people who work whole day have time for this
God's touch
So say Thank You Lord and that's it.
Opinions are like a**holes, everybody's got one. The song, in itself, is no big hit or a great tune as far as mainstream would be concerned, but the mix, the performance, the entire feel of the song is perfect for what it is. Just sit back and listen. It's to enjoy--not criticize.
Real Music!!!
OMG!! OMFG!! I'm in LOVE again! I stay away from EVER writing on youtube for online privacy reasons but I setup my whole damn UA-cam account, gave away all my privacy rights forever to Google just for the option to publicly declare my love for this song and the woman this reminds me of! She is everything! Everything like this song, this smooth, sweet, jungle beat, seriously neat, divine, melt my innards, take over my heart tune, and a whole lot more, She is everything!
Thank you Booker T and all on the band who I don't know about but will learn about asap! You guys .. WOW!
This is the greatest instrument for a LONG LONG time, my fox the groove. I can listen to this again and again just fabulous
The best rythm section that Booker could find since the Mg's!
so good.
One of my favorite instrumentals! I had the pleasure of seeing Booker T. and the band play this live. Great version of the Lauryn Hill song.
This is permanent stankface funky.
Genial Booker T Jones !! Lo llevo escuchando desde 1968 , casi nada..
Everyone needs Booker T and a Hammond in their lives, even without Steve Cropper, Duck Dunn and Al Jackson jr..
People think this is a remake of Lauryn HIll's cover of this song. It is NOT. If anything, this is a cover of what was first composed by guitarist Phil Upchurch. It was also covered by the late Donnie Hathaway -- and it was an early cover by Earth Wind & Fire.
I can't get enough of this song! It is phenomenal!
The drum playing is totally appropriate for the groove. I might even say the Roots killed the rhythm track for this, allowing Booker T ample space to build the melody and slay it in the end. This is not Booker T and the MG's, it's Booker T and The Roots, so of course it's gonna sound different. Props to my mann, Bosco for capturing it as only he can. Best track I've heard from this record thus far!
man i had no idea that booker t. jones and the roots recorded together. what a thrill!!
Same ere la❤
I have never stopped listening to Booker & the MG's awesome organ and tunes. Kick ass grooves are hooter than july! WOW! you rock man..
A VERY HAPPY 71ST BIRTHDAY TO BOOKER T. JONES TODAY....AND MANY MORE SIR!.
It's one year later now, but I agree! (found this by a happy coincidence)
Holy shit I just melted...
This video shows that music is made for the listener, and that you can be 100% serious, thinking about the original composition, and still produce something loose and funky. Love it!
@dlo693: It's a Callowhill, he's got a very small shop. I know a couple people who have his basses, they love'em. Give credit to the Ampeg B-15 the bassist (Owen Biddle) is playing through as well, it's the perfect amp for music like this.
Simply amazing!! It's always refreshing to see the joy on these guys faces while playing even in the studio.
🤣
is it proof that my guitar playing is pretty good when i find all of these songs very easy to jam along? Why is it that when I can play along; I tend to think that their playing is sub par? Instead of thinking they are not too good; I should tell myself that perhaps they are very good and that I must be a pretty good musician to be able to play along with them. But for some reason, perhaps bc of my humble nature; i stead of putty myself of the pedestal with them; I tend to put them down bc if I can play just as well as they can; instead of thinking i am just as good; i think they are not as good as myself. Its time I start thinking of myself as a good musician too
Everything is this track ♾️
A String of Pearls 📿
🐈⬛.❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥.🐇
Everything collides. Everything matters.
Holy crap, it’s like being bombarded from both ends . Melody and rhythms
I heard this on the radio and all I could think was, "Man, that drum part is straight FIRE!" Well, no wonder! ?uestlove drumming and Bosco Mann behind the board. Couldn't possibly go wrong!
Bravo on this piece! I love it!
I am ashamed to say that I had never heard of this version of this song until listening to the jazz station on Dish. Wow! I'm from Memphis, Tennessee and grew up listening to Booker T and the MG's and all the Memphis/Stax Sound my whole like. I'm ashamed. This is so darn good, that I've had to listen to it over, and over, and over some more again.
I hate to admit that I didn't even know Booker T was still alive. :(
My wife took piano lessons from the same teacher, Mrs. Amertha Cole as Booker T did as a child in Memphis. She taught Music at my Elementary School in Memphis. So I took Music from her but not an instrument...just singing and stuff and the basic rudiments of music theory. So Booker T, my wife and I share a kinship of sorts. :)
+Casey Smith Not only is he alive, he's well and touring quite a bit. Don't miss him if you get a chance!
Booker always gives me the best warm chills, whenever I listen to him. My friend Chris Hills even had a badass group called Everything Is Everything.
This is awesome; just can't help think how incredible it would be with Lauryn spitting her verse: "I philosophy / Possibly speak tongues....."
happy birthday Booker!!!
Booker T. Jones (born November 12, 1944) is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, record producer and arranger, best known as the frontman of the band Booker T. & the M.G.'s. He has also worked in the studios with many well-known artists of the 20th and 21st centuries, earning him a Grammy Award for lifetime achievement.
No words. I'm not easily impressed but I will hold this in my heart. RIP the CJP. ❤️💚
I'm so glad that people are still making this kind of music. It gives me hope knowing that music hasn't been completely killed by crappy pop music.
@dariadayle You got that right!!
An excellent musician and still a handsome man 😉
Me encanta esta canción 🥰
Saludos desde guanajuato 🤗✨🇲🇽🤟🔥🎸🎸🎛️🎛️🎛️
this whole album is the shit!....Sharon Jones, Yim Yames, Lou Reed......its Fantastic..and on Vinyl!
Best Music ever made. BOOoker T is da shit!
Booker T. has always been DA BOMB since he was making music with his band, the MG's, back in the 60's. And he's still playin' the hell out that legendary organ.
One word: Analog!
I feel like if they made a whole album like this and brought in Gary Clark Jr., it would get a Grammy.
no gangster here ,this is great stuff here.
Gabe Roth on the boards too. Dream Team.
Every time I watch this I think. Thank you Quest. I love this version. Aloha
Amazing drums, amazing bass but Booker T Jones is ...Everything.
Been fortunate enough to see him live twice.. both amazing concerts
@TheCrash014 who cares. enjoy the music
I just knew that was Questlove on the drums!
I heard it, but almost looked through him...
his playing looks so effortless it reminds me of Purdie and this groove reminds me of Bernard Purdie as well
Extraordinary! I listened for 10 times this melody and I can't stop listining.
CLASSIC, ICONIC, AMAZING
How are people criticizing a song this good? This song is arranged perfectly to highlight booker t's organ. This is how jazz and soul used to be made to have one focal point and i think we could use more of this production method today.
I'd love to see you guys collab with a female vocalist or vocal group on this
That's a B-3 with some unique character. Looks funky, sounds even more FUNKY!! Love the window in the back panel; it lets see into the beast's most 'expressive' parts. :-)
I saw it now, i don't now how i miss it, marvelous!!!!!!!!!!!
De Booker T no hay nada para decir, pero The Roots?! Que banda maaan!!!! What a cool band!!
That's hard work!!!
That's the producer from Daptone (who also plays bass for Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings). Gabe Roth, I believe, is his name.
Made my day
Yeah. 👌
Epic song.
You can feel the emotion that went into it's creation, beautiful
👍👍👍
I have no words
I like how as he's playing, he has this expression like "This is nothing, i can do this with my eyes closed".
Booker man still got it! New album's on point, too. ?uestlove's presence alone (is it just me or is he one of the most talented, versatile drummers of our time???) just takes the whole thing to another level. Gonna have to bag myself a copy when I get the chance to do so.
Sounds like a jam session not a song but very cool
Awesome music. Booker T just released a new album and I heard him talking about it on NPR's Tell Me More and came over to see what he had on UA-cam.
Real nice! Sorta reminds me of the same level of grooving in Hendrix's, Rainy Day, Dream Away. Real Nice!
There are seriously some Kojak actors in this... Love it!
Was it taken from "The Road From Memphis" Album by Booker T. Jones?
Err... is that Lauryn Hill's Everything is Everything or Donnie Hathaway's ????
Ms Hill's
I realy realy want to know who dislike this and why.
I love this. Great groove.
こら評価するしかないやろー
You can BOOK thats great music!
Awesome beat. Enjoyed it alot!
ah ... the real experts are sitting behind the PC keyboard apparently.
These aren't the 60's anymore, drums are upfront these days and that works well especially in funk/soul...because it's about rythm.
These aren't the 80's anymore and we could do very well without a loudmouth-slap-on-each-16th-note-bassplayer pretending to be a guitar hero.
This is the 21st century and what we need is a dude like Booker T to show us how it's done.
that's totally your opinion. i'd say it's pretty subjective. not hating on you but to me it sounds similar to left hand organ. maybe that's what they were going for? if booker/ahmir kept it for the final mix i'll go out on a limb and assume they were happy with it.
Thank you WCLK 91.9 in Atlanta for playing this last week. Had to hunt it down. Awesome!
i'm getting goosies over here
I think the drummer came out of The roots. If i remember well.
***** in a real way
roland musashi that'd be questlove. been playing with Booker t fora while now
O: ?uestlove and Booker T. Jones... perfect!!!
Interesting mic technique on the drums. Just two beyer ribbons sort of out in front of the kit, and I'm guessing something on kick. Just goes to show how good ?uestlove's dynamics are.
wauw !!! this is the good stuff , i am dreaming of a hammond , this is awsome !!!!
let it lose !! you have nice songs , you already know , the Time is tight !
mae a new oran song :P
Nice, but why so serious?
Serious business lol
He’s Locked in
Is that Gabe Roth mixing?
I love this kind of music( booker t jones ) but I was thinking "everyhing is everything ' was the number on an album by Jim Pepper,Larry Corell (spelling wrong) that came out in the '60s...............Booker,you are an inspration to me to play but I am really rusty!
Booker t an de mgs
this is so tasty
smokin hot. is that gabriel roth producing these tunes?
Saw Booker T on Friday night at Ronnie Scotts and it was beyond fantastic! Sooooo funky soooooooo cool! Brilliant! xx
Master Hammond
as true as steel ...
Sunday sermon
I heard Lauren Hill song that sampled this entire song.
@ericsaywhaat It's coming out on May 10th. It's called "The Road From Memphis." I'm reviewing it right now for a music magazine. IT IS FIRE!!!
The real one X❤❤❤❤X
@CrasCedwards
