  • This is a simple but effective modification trick that I found here, on UA-cam, and I thank the guys that came up with it and made the original video and posts. I'm not sure how many of you guys may or may not have seen it so I'm showing you again, with real-time demonstration, as it may be of some help to you. I know I've had countless occasions where the blessed Tele/Strat knob has done a runner mid-set and it drives me crazy. This is a very good solution. Be aware that any hardware modification, no matter how slight, may affect your guitar's warranty. But it sure does work! Rock on.

Thanks for passing this great little trick on. The loose switch tip was the only thing Leo didn’t get right the first time. Now it is the perfect guitar.

Brilliant Brett! I LOVE my Tele switch tips and use them on ALL of my guitars. And yes...they all fall off. This is getting done tomorrow!

Great video, Brett. I'll be giving this a go. I ended up using super-glue on my 52 reissueTele! 🤣

I did the same on my Squier. Used Super glue and to take it of a couple of drops of pure acetone. Did is a new way for my. Really interesting.

Hey Burgs. Thanks for posting this. I tried it yesterday and it works great.

Yep, this works great. I did 3 marks, with one right at the bottom of the lever, that seemed to grasp the tip the best of the 3. Thanks!

I was in doubt ... but now I'm a believer. It works pretty pretty well for my 2020 US Telecaster! Thx very much!!! You're my Guitar hero 🙂

I've replaced mine with a Duesenberg switch tip which has a grub screw and looks good. But this is a good solution, and cheaper than buying a replacement.

When my Tele went like this, I tried to use the tape to thicken the shaft and it failed, then I just bought a new switch knob... Great vid!

I was very skeptical , but it really works. Bought an inexpensive squier stratocaster that was missing the switch cover. Got replacementt cover that would not stay on. This did the trick. 😅

Just put some paper in the slot of the switch cap and push it on to the pick up selector for a tighter fit. That’s what I did

Okay so i have another question. My tele switch selector is a littke loose and i'm not talking about the knob, i'm talking about the whole thing. Anyone knows how to fix it? It doesn't affect anything but still it annoys the shit out of me.

Hmmmm....you've got me going to my tele now. I'm not entirely sure that I get how this works?
I'm thinking by pressing firmly on the plastic knob, you then force it to catch onto the grooves you've just created.
Seems like a fair idea, just unsure of its permanence. 😳 Isn't super glue etc just as easy, if not easier and likely last longer?
Either way...clever little 'hack' & I do love seeing people's tricks of the trade.
    Thanks Brett. 😎😎😎

Begs the question, who is going to tell Switchcraft & the other switch manufacturers about this & get them to do it in manufacture?
