I literally just watched the episode of Ghost Island where Michael went home at the dual tribal episode, and there's a pretty huge advantage misplay here that I thought would be in this video. There were 5 people for this vote: Wendell, Laurel, Michael, Kellyn, and Dom (who won immunity). Michael was the easy target, and since he knew this, he tried to pretend that he had an idol so that Laurel/Wendell/Dom couldn't split their votes. Kellyn also had an extra vote which she had won at one of her visits to Ghost Island, and she wanted to use it at this tribal to try to take out Laurel. Since Kellyn used her extra vote, the first vote had a 2-2-1-1 split between Laurel/Michael/Wendell/Kellyn, meaning that Dom, Wendell, and Kellyn had to vote for Laurel or Michael on the revote. I was shocked with the revote because Michael was announced to have been voted out after only 2 votes had been read. This means that only 3 total revotes were cast, so Kellyn did not vote twice in the revote. When Kellyn won her advantage, she was shown saying that her extra vote would extend to the revote, so what happened? I instantly googled this, and it turns out that Kellyn forgot that she could vote twice on the revote, and that she ended up only casting 1 vote. If she had voted twice for Laurel as she was entitled to do, then (assuming that a unanimous decision could not be made) Wendell and Kellyn would have gone to rocks. So there was a 50% chance that the person who won could've been knocked out at final 9, and this didn't happen because Kellyn simply forgot how her advantage worked.
@@ms.cellaneous4380 I was thinking about this a little bit more, and I could imagine that production might have thought that Kellyn wanted to concede the tiebreak to make Michael go home, especially since Kellyn voted for Michael on the revote. Like production might've thought that Kellyn was on the fence about forcing the 2nd tie, since she would have a 50% chance of going home if she forced the tie, and that she ended up deciding not to tie it up again. So if production saw 3 votes, all for Michael, they wouldn't necessarily need to tell Kellyn that she could vote again if she wanted to. If they had done something like that, it might have made her change her vote and could possibly have turned into another Stacey Stillman incident. But yea, you'd think that it would've been okay for Jeff to say something like "if the person who used the extra vote is still eligible to vote in the revote, they may still cast 2 votes." That could've led to some great reactions, and hopefully another tie vote.
Kellyn not casting the Extra Vote at the revote has been discussed before on this channel. There is no reason to cast it, because it needlessly risks the tribe going to rocks.
Aurora was actually a really great strategic player, she may have rubbed some people the wrong way, but she proved herself more than enough that season.
The moral of the story is this. If you ever get an extra vote or steal a vote, you might be better off throwing it in the fire! If you choose to keep it though, just don’t tell anyone about it. Sarah’s move of voting Sierra out to get the legacy advantage was a beautiful and brilliant move! Cerie’s move would have been maybe one of the greatest moves in history if she could play the steal a vote.
Personally I loved the concept of half idols that require you to work cooperatively, but just not when it involves someone waltzing back from the Edge with an advantage.
Damn, apparently I don't remember ANY of Edge of Extinction. None of that looked familiar whatsoever despite me watching that season when it came out, lol.
I swear EoE has that effect on people! I was rewatching all of the seasons in quarantine and when I got to EoE, I realized that I had barely remembered any of it besides the endgame until I watched it and it all came back to me lol

Sarah never misplayed it. The second Cirie tried to use it Sarah stared explaining(the exact same time as Jeff did) Cirie cannot play it, because it is not transferable. It was a beautiful play of texting trust and at the same time Sarah was protected, so nothing could go wrong for her, if Cirie end up READING the advantage, she would have known that Sarah was protected, Cutie’s look pretty much tells how she thought she is so about to be on top, but was strikes out of nowhere when she got what was happening
I just finished Game Changers for the first time. It was a very uneven season. And all I can say is that 5 out of 6 people being ineligible to receive votes really shows that too many advantages were in play.
I mean there were literally no idols plays from the final 15 to the final 6 and with the instant deadlock rules flushing idols was basically not happening. It also didn’t help that 2 of the biggest goats: Troyzan and Tai held all 3 idols

That knowledge is power advantage is ridiculous You have to jump though all thee hoops for a hidden immunity idol -find a advantage -lose your vote for weeks -say a random phase -wait for two other people from two different tribes to say a phase only to have it taken away by someone because...they can't lie and have to give it away...
Liyana from Survivor 41 had also made a wrong move by asking Xander's idol at the very last minute and it was epic.. I was laughing out loud when Xander said, "No but you can have this fake one" and her reaction was funny as hell.. 🤣
I was just watching the dan move last night.its the issue with going into the top 5 or 6 with just as many alliances members. They were so close they all knew where all the votes were going before tribal
You know I’d forgotten that Spencer was the reason Steven’s stealing Pretty Boy’s vote didn’t work. Damn shame too. I really liked Spencer, but when either of the two most annoying players could have had their long overdue elimination, he chooses NOTA.
i wasnt expecting ron’s boot to part of this list but aurora really did snap with that and it just reminds me how annoyed i was at rick for acting like he did something with that when he was yet again out of the loop on the vote.
The medallion of power had such a lack of power If it ever returned they’d literally need to change the mechanics of it, maybe allow the tribe in power to protect someone on the losing tribe

Speaking of, let's hope the production crew doesn't start looking up ORG twists, because I've seen some that really would mess with the contestants even more, like an automatic rock draw, which when played immediately forces everyone eligible to be voted for to draw rocks, or a double idol that can be played on two people at once
I disagree about Stephen. His misplay was easily the worst on this list. How on earth did he think he had the votes to split reliably when Spencer AND Tasha had voted against him in the previous tribal?
I agree 💯%. If He had used both votes on either Joe or Abi, he would not have been voted out...Karma for backstabbing Taj when she protected him and was willing to share her idol with him, and included him in all her plans to make it to the finals in his first time on survivor.
I think Dan’s is worse because his advantage play didn’t do anything except tip Carolyn off that there would be another vote coming her way At least Stephen had a plan and a reliable target Joe who most people wanted out for ages

It was not worth it I much rather have the auction back then advantages and Survivor even though hot take I actually like the advantages as long as they're not oversaturated but I think they should do what they do in Australian Survivor and that is hide idol Clues and clues to advantages inside of the auction items like have a jar of jelly beans and hide an advantage clue inside of the jar of jelly beans or have somebody get a plate of spaghetti and hide an extra vote in the cutlery you can also at the beginning of the auction before it has even started tell people that the max bid for an advantage or an idol will be $200 that way they know they have $300 to play with before the advantage of the Idol comes and I think it makes it more interesting because I think everyone will save $200 for an advantage and then we get to watch everyone draw rocks just so one person can have an advantage
I got an idea for an advanced I would say I had if I ever went to exile. I would tell people I have something that when played, reverses all votes against me. Then, all players who voted for me draw rocks to accept my votes. It’s too overpowered to be an actual advantage but would make a great bluff.
let's say dan voted for sierra twice.. carolyn will cancel the 3 votes and vote for dan with mike that's 2 votes for dan and 2 votes for sierra.. carolyn and mike will still vote dan and rodney and will must vote dan too. so dan can't do anything at that point
I didn't mention this, but Dan should've given his extra vote to either Rodney or Will to use (similar to what Aurora did with Gavin) - that way either of them can cast a third vote in the tiebreaker. Dan's vote was transferable!

I don’t think she would have voted Laurel, because she wanted a Malolo to go. Forcing rocks prevents that.

There appears to be an inverse relationship between how powerful an advantage is and the plausibility of it actually existing.
let's say dan voted for sierra twice.. carolyn will cancel the 3 votes and vote for dan with mike
that's 2 votes for dan and 2 votes for sierra.. carolyn and mike will still vote dan and rodney and will must vote dan too.
so dan can't do anything at that point
I didn't mention this, but Dan should've given his extra vote to either Rodney or Will to use (similar to what Aurora did with Gavin) - that way either of them can cast a third vote in the tiebreaker. Dan's vote was transferable!

You can! Extra votes carry through to the revote, so long as you can vote in the re-vote.
