The issue probably comes from the relation between Nintendo and Amazon and Wallmart. I don’t think it has anything to do with TTYD itself.
Yeah I haven't heard anything from the UK side of things, Smyths or Argos etc
*Walmart
The issue might not come from TTYD itself, but I'm worried this will create issues for TTYD.
I am guessing its because Walmart and Amazon are breaking Nintendo's NDA. They are and have been releasing games up to 2 weeks earlier than the release date..... Nintendo has ways of tracking. Nintendo has serial codes on every game. physical and digital. They do an old school thing called batching. Where they only let x amt of physical/digital out the door per day. That is then batched in thousands/ten thousands whatever number they have chosen for the # of serial numbers... This is the way Nintendo makes sure its accurate in its inventory of a game and keeps track of how many is sold easily. Its a lot of labor upfront but it pays off as its hard to mess up in a big way with the batching system. I think Nintendo KNOWS that Walmart and Amazon are releasing games up to 2 weeks before the actual release date. They are aware of what serial numbers access the game digitally or physically. Then they can go to the batches and see where exactly those batches are coming from.... Walmart and Amazon. So then they go to Walmart and Amazon. Say we have proof that you broke our NDA's. You stop offering pre orders or we will sue you for damages. This is also how Nintendo tracks down people who purchased the game and put videos up of it online. They more than likely threaten a lawsuit against said company to get them to release the information they have on file for the purchase... then the people streaming/vids before release get the nintendo cease and desist letters.....
It is, there are a handful of walmarts being shut down across the USA under the claim they are "losing money".
Lemme guess, so we don’t have a repeat of Super Mario Bros Wonder and Tears Of The Kingdom, where people get early access AND upload gameplay on UA-cam when they’re supposed to yet.
Probably that the case
this seems most likely to me - a lot of games have been leaking early lately seemingly, i wouldn't be surprised if they're trying this method specifically to see if they can prevent an incident like that
@@Envy_May they won't be able to
I don’t see that comparison holding up because those were actually brand new games while this is just a remake of a 20 year old game.
@@MadMax-ii8gq it's being classed as a brand new game, which it technically is
This video's Title isn't clickbait, but the Thumbnail is, because Nintendo didin't cancelled Paper Mario The Thousand-Year Door HD Remake, they just sadly cancelled it's Pre-Ordering, but gladly I can Pre-Order TTYD Remake here in Finland. I still buy the Game in it's launch day may 23.2024. 😊
Technically speaking this cancellation only applies to online preorders with Walmart and Amazon in the US. Other countries and other retailers in the US weren’t affected by this, and is likely a means of preventing anyone outside of game journalists from getting it earlier than release date, plus averting scalpers.
I'll put that in one phrase:
"Tears of the Kingdom Leak"
Did Amazon adn Walmart leak totk?
Ryujinx first leaked TOTK
I'll put that in one REAL phrase:

What? Tears or the Kingdom has been out for over a year now. There are no leaks, you dolt!

They just underestimated demand for this game. I doubt it's anything weird.
I agree that this is probably the reason, but it’s weird that they thought interest in this would be low. It’s a long-beloved Mario game that has been anticipated for years, in a year with not many other high profile Switch releases for it to compete with. Very strange.
@@worldsboss the new paper mario games kinda flopped so they probably used that to gage how much inventory they would need (assuming this is the reason why)
I hope nintendo takes this realizes what they been missing out on when paper mario titles after the wii have been somewhat lacking
@@worldsbossit’s more likely Walmart and Amazon had a certain amount of units that would be to them in time to be received on release day. They oversold the amount they had, and rather than deal with people complaining their copy didn’t arrive for a day or two after, Amazon and Walmart canceled the preorders.
This is their standard operating procedure. It’s happened before, it’ll happen again. And this isn’t some Nintendo issue either. This is an issue with Amazon and Walmart for lots of major game releases. Happened with GTA, LoU, and plenty of other major games from other publishers.
@@MungkaeX walmart literally said "nintendo is only selling this item in stores at this time so all preorders are cancelled"
They could also be looking at a physical copy shortage. Which is absurd but if Nintendo went into the release with the premise of 'Eh it's a remake, how many physical units can it possibly move. It'll probably do better digital anyway.' then I can see how they'd screw that up.
Why the heck are they canceling pre orders of the Thousand Year Door? I’ve never seen Nintendo do something like this either.
Yea me too i used to wait until the games release to go buy them but when pre orders started where you can be assured that you can get the game without risking it being sold out it's obviously a No Brainer What People Want To Do, Which Is Pre Ordering It To Get The Game Without Being Screwed Over And To Boost Sales Numbers Imo. 😒
It could just be a glitch
@@Kurumithespiritnightmare It could just be a glitch
@@madnessarcade7447 I doubt it
Considering it’s just Walmart and Amazon, something’s going on behind the scenes.
It’s because it IS selling well. They’d rather you pre-order it via Nintendo Directly. Mine was cancelled by Amazon a month ago
How do u actually know that is the root cause? What’s the source? I know it’s obvious it will sell well but we really don’t know the main cause of this.
I want to say that it potentially comes down to two reasons as to why Nintendo would do this. One is to combat scalping. Or two is that maybe someone at Nintendo came across a significant issue within the game that warranted the cancelation of preorders. It could also be a combination of both factors as well. Regardless, something is going on behind the scenes that we're simply not aware of.
Nintendo may have also underestimated the amount of preorders, so it could be a supply and demand issue (sort of like how it was hard to find a physical copy of Metroid prime remastered when it released)
@@Glitchyy07 That could be another reason as well. I feel like some of these channels tend to assume the worst whenever Nintendo does something no one anticipates. There are obviously many issues I have with Nintendo, no doubt about it, but in this instance, I think there's some genuine reason as to why Nintendo would be canceling preorders.
I don't think its due to any issue with the game itself specifically. At this point the game has pretty much gone gold meaning its pretty much too late to pull back now.
TTYD announcements happen:"YES YESS YES YESSS!!"
This happens:"NO NO NO NO,FLIP!!!"

Perhaps they underestimated how many people wanted to buy it
Good thing I pre ordered it at Best Buy.
Same can do physical pick up on Thursday
I just did digital via eshop, already on my menu, now I just to wait for it to actually be playable
I'm really hoping they don't cancel Best buy preorder's. That would really suck for those using best buy to pick up this game.
The problem with not pre ordering games is that people want to Make Sure They Get The Game No One wants to risk going to the store only to find out that they are sold out that's the whole point of Pre Orders Imo, so them doing this is sooo Dumb because you're gonna get Waaay less sales this way because certain people won't be able to buy it when they are sold out so i just hope i can get my version of the game too i also always get mine from gamestop too go figure hopefully they fix this situation soon man.
Happily I preordered with GameStop, I assume the issue with Walmart and Amazon is that they were getting millions of preorders and they don’t have that many copies of the game.
they are traumatized from the copies that get sent early sometimes
This better not happen with the Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon remake
What if it does?
@@JoiningIrons3306 When Amazon was mentioned I thought NO. But I can still pre-order mine. I guess its because im in the UK and I think he said it was only affecting America

This is old news. This was known month ago. Endless ocean was the same way and the new luigi mansion game is also not pre orderable on walmart or amazon
Always entertained by your content, it's awesome!
This is probably Amazon and Walmart’s fault
This happened to me yesterday, but I pre-ordered it through the Eshop.
My preorder through Eshop just didn’t start to download for a bit, but it did eventually
Well that's stupid that happened.
The answer is Amazon and Walmart have oversold their allotted shipment.
Nintendo told them you get X number of units, and Amazon and Walmart sold more preorders than they were permitted. Blame Amazon and Walmart.🤷♂️
i pre ordered at gamestop and i was told multiple times that we don't know what the pre order bonus will be in the US.
“Preorders have been cancelled for Amazon and Walmart”
me who preordered at GameStop:
Aw man If Curry’s cancel the preorders I’m gonna be pissed because I used a gift card to order that
I don't understand the motive at all, i am from europe and my order still fine even if it's from amazon. I really don't see why they are did this
Yea I Love how even people from other parts of the world who don't have this problem are sympathizing twards us that's how you know this is messed up imo.
It's only in US
I had thought it was weird when I tried to preorder off of Amazon the listing was gone and unavailable. Hopefully this doesn’t happen with Best Buy bc I don’t have a car and there’s no public transportation anywhere near where my house is, I need this game delivered
Target keeps cancelling mine
I think Nintendo just cancelled the Pre-order release because the game is still undone to make any copies of them so he said they're going to be in Full Release a moth later
a month later no they steel have it lsited as coming this month and unless they come out tell it ben delayed then they can be sued for flase shwoing and not spraking out
Oh. Well this doesn't effect me in the slightest. This some tough sh*t tho, GL y'all.
This is probably to stop early access leaks, some stores just send em right away
Sega might do this soon because people leaked Sonic Superstars gameplay when it wasn’t even released yet
Amazon and Walmart must be breaking NDA's.... Nintendo is cracking down on the early releases..... They are aware Walmart and Amazon are releasing the games weeks early.

People are jumping to conclusions when it could just be a glitch
The same glitch happening to two big retailers? Sure.
I don't normally do pre-orders I'm just going to get the game on launch day after work
I usually pre-ordered my own physical copies of Switch games on Amazon, sometimes I get my game at launch, other times I get the game a day later or two.
I'm seeing another pattern of stupidity.
Or we just don't know what is happen?

@DaBaseBallZ just because u don't understand dosent make nintendo stupid just makes u ignorant
@@DaBaseBallZ for the surprise of no one. An f ignorant bafoon
@@deadringer8050 No, Nintendo is stupid.
One thing to note is that Amazon and Walmart break street dates nearly constantly with games, especially Nintendo games. So I think Nintendo is doing this to curb the any possible leaks from them.
Funny because my pre-order on Amazon UK is still on order, wonder if something is up in some regions that can secure copies of the game
6 more days?!?!
Yeah, but surprisingly, it’s on a Thursday.
this probably because of the tears of the kingdom and mario wonder leaks that happened because of amazon and walmart sending people their copies before the game came out
True that has to be reason
Yeah, like the others say it might be to avoid leaks. They get the copys early for preorders. BB and GS I think have more strict rules on this, but amazon and walmart....yeeeah.
I can understand them stopping them for leaking, but not spoilers, they already exist on youtube
The sales won't be affected at all. Now, more people will be camping outside Walmart for midnight releases.
Could we pre-order Paper Mario A Thousand-Year Door digitally?
I actually pre-ordered it from the Nintendo eShop and it’s downloaded on my Switch. The only thing is I have to wait next week before I play it because it checks the internet to see if it’s the release date. So if anyone were to pre-order this game or any other Nintendo game, I recommend a local retailer like GameStop, or purchase it on the Nintendo eShop online where you’ll have no trouble getting it faster.
I was thinking that he was going to say they canceled the game entirely.
Why dose UA-cam think this is about Mario maker 2
gamestop is the goat with preorders. Preordered literally everything from them.
Same! Plus, I plan on working there after I'm back from vacation with my family!
Guess it's time to camp near a GameStop.
It could be them working on a system to prevent scalping in prep for the release of switch 2. Scalping caused a slow down in software sales for playstation when most of the PS5 were bought up and sat in warehouses by scalpers.
The real answer is we going back to origami king and color splash style and people love it :p
nice torlling
I remember when I was younger going to pick up my games when they released was a highlight of my childhood. Watching all the of people waiting as well and even some who dare to sleep at the door of the store to get their copy 😂😂😂
They definitely did it cuz of scalpers LOL
I got mine from the playasia 3 for 100$ the deal is done so if my preorder is cancelled i wont be able to get it again
It isn’t American so it might be find
I’m not gonna lie, I’m pretty sure that the reason why specifically Walmart and Amazon are doing this is because they’re low on stock.
Fun fact there are more places than just Walmart and Amazon
walmart and amazon probably giving copies early thats why
Surely because those stores kept sending copies earlier than attended leading to the entire games being already leaked and online 1 week before the launch and it's surely to avoid this
I wish I could understand this struggle. But ever since I heard that Amazon sold out of the game (other than right now). I decided to get it the day it releases, and I will get it at Walmart when it opens.
They are probably afraid of the game leaking.
@Nin10doland I did the same as you and went into my local Gamestop and pre-ordered the TTYD Remake that way.
You're a star, keep shining bright!
i think this might be a scam because a lot of scammers are using fraudulent emails & claim that they work for giant retailers when really they just want to scare the person & that pisses me off
I don’t know if this happened to anyone but this happened to me with Pikmin 4
My digital pre-order on the Eshop got cancelled.
Its cause walmart has had issues with pre-ordered games and consoles in the past. Because they will sometimes take the pre-order, pocket the money and then with some of mine in the past, they would put it on "lay-a-way" then steal the pre-orders amongst themselves. Do also note that pre-orders done through walmart are done through walmarts systems and does not actually go to the intended party. This means you pre-order the game at walmart, but nintendo won't actually see the money.. They only get notified of the pre-order. Lastly, walmart has inflated the pre-order amount before too but that access of games and consoles never actually hit store shelves. They will end up in employee pockets and holding it for themselves, and due to walmart policies, can't take them to court over such. So maybe to combat the loss in direct sales involving third parties.. Nintendo is cracking down on retail stores. And no walmart is not the only guilty one here , allot of big retailers do this same stunt.
What if its not Nintendo at all what if it's a hacker impersonating as Nintendo canceling pre orders?
Oh that’s a bad sign
It could be a supply and demand issue, and if so that means the game is selling pretty well (but yeah this is still an issue)
Somebody probably leaked something big about the extra stuff in the us, and posted it below the comments of Walmart and Amazon. But that’s just a theory
Nintendo doesn't know how to run a business since the company is being run by Shark Tale
(That movie scared me as a kid btw)
I am guessing they dont have enough copy
I preordered mine on eshop and it got cancelled.
I don't think it has something to do with Nintendo, I live in Mexico, and recently checked if Amazon Mexico still has Paper Mario TTYD available for pre-orders, and they still have it. Though I pre-ordered it from another online store (mercado libre) and haven't had any issues.
My amazon order hasn't been cancled so this dosn't seem to affect amazon in germany
Dont you think it was leaks because of tears of the kingdom and super mario wonder once it was pre-order?
You have no idea how fast I clicked on this video! I thought he meant the game was gonna be cancelled!😭😭😭
Might be to combat scalpers.
well
I Have Pre Ordered it Over Amazon but I dident got a Email Yet and On Amazon it Says: Arrives Thurstday
Well I’m glad I pre ordered mine digitally and it just got downloaded on my switch
Yea Luigi and paper , both Amazon cancelled for me
I never pre order physical games I just wait until the game release.
What the caramel apple pie is happening
No. What the apple fritter is happeneing
probably because they want people to touch grass? idk
Maybe its getting more sales than Nintendo expected?
A few likely reasons for why this is happening.
A classic case of demand outpacing supply. I won't be surprised if TTYD Switch ends up having a more limited print run given Nintendo is likely starting to shift resources to Switch 2
Trying to tamp down on scalping which probably explains why they mentioned that with WalMart it will be in store only.
Nintendo likely trying to avoid a repeat of Tears of the Kingdom and Super Mario Bros Wonder.
Im going to get the game on launch
Is Best Buy safe
Yes they have done this with peoples pre orders with animal crossing new leaf before the update of the game ya I remember this .
mine got cancelled 2 months ago do to an excessive amount of order then whent to waltmart now this 😱
I placed my pre order with gamestop in person in february. If they cancel, I'll be MAD.
They probably don't have enough copies for everyone who preordered to actually get it. Plus, this could reduce the number of low life scalpers.
Why would someone scalp a switch game in 2024
@@vacuumblink2300 Believe me. They're still out there.
Not sure if I should get this game or not. I might get more games for my PS5.
I
Mean some people who have expendable amounts of money can order like 5 copies of it off Amazon and Walmart. (Mainly Amazon) and that’s one person
Because they don't like scalpers buying them all up
I could not find the game on Walmart or Amazon, so I got it from Best Buy. Does that mean we are safe? Bogus. Are they trying to make it hard to get it physically? Wild.
I’m guessing the reason is that the people who got their orders cancelled are known leakers and scalpers, so Nintendo may be teaching them a lesson. Anyway, I preordered in the Eshop(so it can still sell well).
I'm ordering this game digitally
So glad I bought the digital version. Good luck scalping that.
Imagine if it was a troll
Looks like its just in America, im from the UK and nothing happened here
