Unlike many other players who start looping like crazy he pushed harder when it was needed and made numerous spin variations during the game. Looks like he has done a good homework before the match. Most importantly, he exploits Wen's 'old school' main weakness which is the fact he can't play the RPB (reverse penhold backhand). Wenzhang looks to stick the ball right down Wen's backhand channel. Wen can block very well if it goes straight at him but anything slightly wider on his backhand side and he is in trouble. I've watched a number of his British League matches, where Wen wins most of the time, and often wondered why his opponents don't use the same tactic.
Aside from He Zhiwen making a lot of unforced errors, Tao played absolutely brilliantly. He knew where to place the ball, when to rip it vs. when to play a more slow, spinny loop. Very smart play

HZW didn't look dominated. he had many serve errors... and despite his age, ol' papa Zhi Wen still has tricks up his sleeve.
