I understand not liking Gobert or his game but man, he's always the scapegoat. None of the Wolves stars have shown up. Ant threw away this game in the last minute, but still all I see is Gobert this and that

Minnesota against Phoenix and Denver was disciplined and locked in and their effort level was astronomical
Luka and Kyrie are that good but Minnesota is letting them get whatever they want. Go watch how LA and OKC defended them. Yeah they still made shots obviously that those defenses were actively taking things away whereas Minnesota is playing like it's a back-to-back against Detroit in February.

Luka and Kyrie are just so much better ball handlers than what the Suns/Nuggets have, they get to the rim and have so many options. Ant also is playing really bad and without him scoring Wolves offense isn't that great...
Then you have KAT who has smaller defenders on him but is just so passive 😅 Naz Reid can't win with these KATs

    • @rabd3721
      @rabd3721 6 місяців тому +42

You have double-penetration threats from THE two best finishers in the league, and both are capable of being phenomenal playmakers as well. Luka is a generational talent who has the ability to fake out defenders with potential lobs, assists, drives, kickouts, or stepback 3s. Dallas is also experienced and unphased by huge leads, so they'll keep attacking you the full 48 minutes until they steal the game. You did not face these challenges in Phoenix or Denver.

@aceloco817 given the circumstances, Dallad is the best place for him to be. Kyrie will retire a Mav, Luka is gonna sign that max contract, Gafford is perfect as an on court mentor while he has Tyson Chandler off the court. Plus he's been given nearly as much minutes as you could want in a rookie season and is now shining in the playoffs. For once since the 2011 season, the Mavs just hapoen to have the right mix of players at the right time. Thing about it is, every player at every position is younger than that championship team if ai'm nit mistaken and I'd argue, all are more talented at their position. Kyrie Irving/Jason Kidd, Jason Terry, Caron Butler/Derrick Jones Jr, Shawn Marion/ PJ Washington Jr, Dirk/Luka, Tyson Chandler/DLive n Gafford. The talent of our team matches uo with the talent of any team in the NBA. Celtics may give us a little bit of problems, but I got Mavs in 6 or 7. Best case scenarionfor Lively's career, he's stays with the Mavs as long as possible.

yes I agree, there is a guy in LA that plays with modern shaq with defense plus a tailor made roster, his game impacts winning, he is consistently in the play in and he can afford to pad his stats in the 4th and freeze out teammates, he is a point forward you know.
plus there is that guy in philly, 7 foot but takes 6 3s per game plus 50 FTs, he also plays like 30 games per year (not his fault that he is injury prone, but durability is ability) and he is the MVP, also that guy in boston that plays on an all star roster, very impactful when it comes to winning.
its those euro guys in denver and dallas that are stat padders, their games dont impact winning, even though one of them won a championship with no all stars on his team while averaging a super efficient triple double and the other one was giving work to kawhi and george as a 20 year old, beat the shit out of the 1st seed in the west that had paul and booker on it with dwight powell as a prominent teammate. they are also not jacked so that means that they play bad defense.

Also, people don't talk about how the wolves went on a run with him, then gobert got subbed out and immediately the wolves fumbled the next two possessions, then they get a stop but edwards turns it over and I don't understand why they went on to switch the screens when having gobert in drop coverage and mcdaniels running from behind means luka probably goes inside the paint and even if he makes it it's only tied and not lost

Gobert will forever be the reason why the wolves are losing because most casuals fans dont like him, for covid related stuff, or because he's french, or because of his name, or because Draymond/Shaq doesnt like his DPOY resume so ppl might as well hate on him for that reason.
BUT this is not quite how reality works. Gobert is doing his partition, drawing fouls, hitting his FTs, offensive rebounds, I mean the wolves dont really have a defense issue, its more about their offense. KAT is non existant, he has 0 impact offensively nor defensively, Ant is learning while making all these crunch time mistakes, 2 games in a row the wolves having careless turnovers.
i HATE so much to see the same narrative take place like in the Utah days, the Jazz wins because of everyone else, the Jazz loses because of Gobert, lol
Also this is more of a strategic error in the crunch from the wolves, they should have deny Luka at all cost and force him to drive in a contested position and have someone else take the shot.

    Dont think
Mavs has even reaches their potential with the lobs and play variation.
Somehow they’ve only just began to find Doncic and Irving combinations, last season was spent to find it.
If they get better and Luca gets rest on his legs. Sky is the limit.

Ain't you the same dude that had a video about why Luka's play doesn't translate to wins?

To be fair, Ben did say that Luka's play began to translate to wins after the trade deadline when both Gafford and Washington arrived.

@@leungszso by his logic when the mavs were crippled and kyrie wasn’t playing and mavs were above .500 Luka was just there hurting the team. Anyone who thinks the best or second best player doesn’t contribute to winning a game is a fucking moron who should never talk about basketball. By that logic mj,Kobe,Lebron should never be considered winning players

@@leungsz To be fair Luka has already been to the WCF at the same age as Ant with J Brunson(well not the current version) and Dinwidie as his 2 other best players, when he was the same age as Ant(ok 5 months older since one is born in August), so probably the winning didn't start 2 months ago, I'm not even gonna go in on the difference in rosters of the current TWolves and the Mavs 2 years ago, no DPOY's no All NBA players, no 6th man of the year no ROY and so on

14:38 I'm going to explain why this rule makes sense. When this action occurs on the baseline, the initial call is Minnesota ball. Now since the possession was ruled in favor for the wolves, they didn't see the need to challenge for a foul, because they still had the ball. It wasn't until Dallas challenged who the ball went off last that it became a problem. When in reality the wolves could easily challenged and said Kyrie fouled. It's about what action is challenged and which team gambled. The wolves were too complacent. Not to mention i both teams were in the bonus so it would've been a good challenge.
