The Kinabatangan River | Can We Save It? | The Amazon of the East - Borneo Documentary, Part 3

Documenting the Kinabatangan river in Borneo from source to sea, acclaimed wildlife photographer Cede Prudente meets up with village elder Patti Arsah, one of Borneo’s Orang Sungai, or People of the River. We also meet his grandson, the last of his family keen on learning the traditional ways of his grandfather. Nearby, a desperate battle is underway to save the remaining forest habitat and protect one of Borneo’s most endangered species ­ the orangutan ­ humankind’s closest genetic relative. Biologist Marc Ancranez works closely with local villagers, employing and educating them to help man and great ape co­exist. Downriver, Conservationist Luke Evans is looking to capture a Saltwater Crocodile so he can attach a satellite tracker, mitigating the danger for humans along the river. Cede completes his once-in-a-lifetime journey down the Kinabatangan River.

Thank you so much for highlighting this issue. I am a Sabahan and as you know Sabahan loves original the rainforest. And I am very concerned about the habitat of the pygmy elephant, the Proboscis Monkey, the Orangutan, the Sunbear , all those wild animal endemic to Sabah.
