Having spent 6 years in Germany in the 1970's I spent a lot of time traipsing around the forests. I am now retired and physically unable to do much traipsing but I have wonderful memories of my time in the woods in Europe. This video brought back a lot of memories.. Thank you!!!

Almost sixty years ago I lived in Bavaria. The Black Forest is, or was, no misnomer. I have never before or since experienced a more beautiful place. It turned out for this child, that the Hansel and Gretel fairytale I loved as a youth, was all too real. There are no other forests on Earth like it. The 'blackness' in it's name is, or was (I've now no idea how my beloved Germany has changed in these last sixty years), well deserved.
The canopy of pines that crowd this paradise opens up at the tree's apex so completely that even the noon-day sun is greatly disallowed from reaching the forest floor. I have such wonderful memories of the small towns (one of which I lived in) situated quite apart from each other; and there would be nothing but forest between them. Very small wonder that folk and fairy-tales were believed. It was like a Grimm's Brothers reality, but in or before ~ 1830,
    the town and people included.

Appreciate the time the Camera Crew had to spend in the Forest, Winter and Summer to capture the animals in real time going about life. Documentaries like this well done work are both entertaining and educational, helps us all see the value of our Wildlife and Nature in general.

I really love everything about Schwarzwald of Germany even though I wasn't born and haven't spent my childhood years there. Whenever I travel ed thru Germany I tried hard not to miss the forest. I dearly love to feel at home there particularly with the tannenbaums in my heart.
Many many thanks for the beautiful shooting and narrating.

Well, this is a wonderful documentary!
Delightful, relaxing but very informative at the same time. In addition to,
I like very much the narrator's voice; it has a soothing effect nevertheless,
it invites you to pay attention to the content of the film.
    A big thank you!

I am half Albanian and my father who is Albanian is from the beautiful region called Tropoje 💚❤💙 and Tropoje is popular in Albania, tourism goes there a lot. Tropoje is a region in northern Albania the area is known for its massive chestnuts forests, the river Valbone, mountains, as well a rich folk culture. In my opinion Tropoje has the best landscapes of all Albania and long time I always considered that Tropoje is like the black forest of Albania 🇦🇱.

Alot of these trees are naturally tall growers. They grow tall because they have to in dense areas to get to sun lights. Plant some of these trees in an open clearing and they wont grow over 30 feet.

There are trees in lots of places so the Black Forest is not famous for that. I think it’s because of BF gateau and Horst Jankowski’s jaunty pop jazz classic (A Walk in the BF), which always puts me in mind of gliding down an autobahn enjoying the post war German economic miracle.

The kittens look like domestic cat kittens that are tabby. Domestic cats genetically came from wild cats from North Africa. But I would not be surprised if they bred with some stray domestic cats in Europe. Some breeds have that long bushy tail.

The forests and countryside of Germany look absolutely beautiful. But it's worth pointing out that there are almost no ancient, wild forests. Nearly all the forests are managed for timber, though a few areas are now set-side for nature.

The narrator stated that the shooting of half of the deer population has no effect. I disagree. If people did not hunt the deer, there would very quickly be more deer than humans... So, hunting the deer has a stabilizing effect on the population... not "no effect" as the narrator stated.

You can find forests all over Europe, and Germany is no exception. It's in a temperate climate zone, so there are lots of grasslands, forests, and mountains. Germans are generally pretty obsessed with taking walks and going on hikes. Imagine their disappointment if it was all just flat land. While many forests have been cleared, people are working on reforesting some areas. Currently, about a third of the country is covered in forests, including some very old ones.
