Thanks for this - I can see, in the window, there's still some ink in the cartridge when you tip it over. So they just want you to waste that last amount I guess.
it didn't work for me 😞 keeps asking to replace magenta even though cartridge is full (and covered with tape as suggested). I'm one step before using my sledgehammer to fix the problem 🤣🤣
Victory is mine , Brother didn’t make a very good model when they made this one. I am having trouble with my feed tray now.... sorry it didn’t work for you.

One other method that was easier was a black sharpie on all sides and that worked also for me at least.

my MFC-J4970DW the window is on top and it goes by a different method tried the tape thing but no go grrrr.

Lol…. Mine worked for 2 months after the repair. I finally trashed mine for something more reliable. Sorry.

It doesn’t always work… sorry. I ended up trashing my printer after continued other problems. I updated to a 2022 model of another brand.
