2025 January 13th Livestream_Firestorm 2 (Roblox): Public Server fun, heli flying, and a FS1 event!

- Played some Firestorm 2 (Paid Access Release) for about 2-3 hours today! Near the end of the video, I switch over to some Firestorm 1 gameplay as part of an RP Server event with the FMB (Fire Management Branch) official RP group for the Firestorm community. Those folks in the FMB are Hand Crew and Engine Crew trained, and host events often right now for their players to practice and participate in more realistic scenarios and wildland firefighting in-game.
For the Firestorm 2 part of the video, be sure to skip any moments that are boring -- you can jump to 13:27 for when real gameplay starts... I was just trying to figure out the heli controls and join the Discord voice chat before that, so nothing much happening on screen until then.
Most of the Firestorm 2 gameplay is me trying out flying the helicopter for the first time in Firestorm 2 -- I didn't get around to testing it during the closed QA testing phase of the game, so there were a few new controls and stuff about starting + flying the flying the heli that I had to get used to. Throughout the flying, I hover around a lot, trying to get a feel for stuff -- and mostly just watch stuff happen and taking in the view of all the gameplay happening on the ground from above. I watch Syphon and other pilots fly around abit, and only later do I start testing out what FS2 water drops feel like. It's great, better than my experience in Firestorm 1 (FS1), so I might actually start doing more water drop gameplay when I fly helis in Firestorm 2 public servers now!
Later on I team up with several folks who run a helispot refilling zone for helicopters, and even get to do some tests of dropping off and picking up players to transport them around the map. It was somehow a little more tough for me to pull of this gameplay compared to Firestorm 1, for some reason... but maybe in time I'll get used to it. Feels like everyone was doing pretty good at getting to the fires on their own, so airlifts/dropoffs weren't really on anyone's mind I think.
At around 2:35:41 is when the RP server event for Firestorm 1 section starts -- I'm hopping off from Firestorm 2, getting ready and setting up stuff to join the Discord voice chat with the FMB fellas around this time, so you'll see some black screen gaps before this timestamp. The deployment/event was really fun in itself. Got attached to Ted's engine and team, and got to work on containing a fire, cutting trees to make a fire line, and listening to the radio comms. Was kind of chaotic was the Zello radio chatter started overlapping with the Discord radio/voice chat chatter lol. Not sure how to fix this yet, I'll have to brainstorm and see what works for me.
Was fun though all the same -- had to leave early unfortunately, but hope that gives some of you an idea of what happened, and a fun segment to rewatch from my perspective. Not sure if anyone else was recording, but GGs all the same!
And to all the Firestorm 2 public server folks who were online at the time, thanks for the fun as well. Really fun stuff, had a blast seeing Firestorm 2 stuff happen from the air -- it's such a different experience than lonely QA testing with much smaller numbers (sometimes by myself lol).
This video was originally livestreamed on Twitch and UA-cam -- link to the original youtube livestream is below (this video is a downloaded version of the Twitch livestream, and re-uploaded/exported to UA-cam, seems to be the less laggy/low latency one to comfortably re-watch):

If you play Roblox or like Firefighting, Firestorm 1 and Firestorm 2 is great for a co-operative PVE fun gaming experience (no PVP gameplay at all, my favorite type of games) where you focus on fighting forest fires as a team (servers can hold up to 20-24 players I think!), and it's quite epic at times! I've learned quite a few wildland firefighting things just from being part of this game and community. And while the public servers aren't always realistic, some people try to work together, and those moments it's usually awesome. There are vehicles to drive, tools/equipment to use to defeat the fires and win the match.
Note: Firestorm 1 is already released for free, and Firestorm 2 is in the Paid Access stage/phase right now, so people who have paid 99 Robux get to play it. Soon, likely in a few weeks, or more, from this video, Firestorm 2 hopefully will see a public, free for everyone release on Roblox! Keep an eye out!

Interesting Timestamps
================
Some interesting timestamps (Couldn't fit this into the youtube description, went over the 5000 word limit lol), I might edit/add more timestamps over time, if you see something interesting, point it out or let me know, and there's a chance I might add it this list if it seems appropriate to me! :) Here are the timestamps so far:
34:32 You can hear Syphon and VanillaIce doing some air radio communications as they maneuver around the airfield (I turn the camera towards them for abit to watch)
1:10:06 Found the 'Founder's Monument' that was from Firestorm 1's map. It's a part of the map with the 3 Developer's faces (Roblox avatars) carved into the mountainside rock. 😛
2:07:17 Refill Bug, visual indicator on heli interface shows as empty (4 white dots) instead of green dots (water tank is full). Ground crews get notification it is full. I can trigger the heli interface to 'update' itself by pressing G to release some water while on the ground. And then I'll see 3-4 green dots appear. But even if the ground teams refill my heli again, the green dots stay at 3 (75% full) instead of going to 4 green dots (100% water tank full).
Some timestamps about my flying that might be breaking some pilot rules and get me a warning/suspension, but I'll be upfront about it so it's easier to discuss with leadership in charge.
57:02 Landing/Pickup spot, was this okay?
57:46 Trying to do a pickup on the mountain/rocks
59:14 Landing moment, may need review (I think the area was safe/wide enough, but let me know if it wasn't)
1:20:00 Landing in a parking lot of sorts, I took a risk and picked luke up here, I am hoping it's not a violation of public flying rules for pilots, but in the moment I made the choice to do it, didn't want to leave the poor guy behind and force him to cut trees for a landing zone. (Cutting trees for a landing zone takes longer in Firestorm 2 compared to Firestorm 1 I think? It was very dark as well, not sure I could see any other safe landing spots).
1:21:32 Is this landing safe? I hoped it was -- I think the rotor blades have enough of a clear area to land there, but I'm pointing this out in case a higher-up needs to review it and let me know it actually isn't a safe landing spot. Again, will take the warning/punishment as needed.
1:30:57 Somehow my Heli loses engine/crashes to the ground. May need investigation to see if it's my fault for pressing a button (maybe I pressed Y by accident and shut the engine off irresponsibly?) or if the game just glitched out on me?
2:09:31 Bumped into tree during a water drop -- I think this was because I went too low on the drop, and didn't see + realize a tree was that high up from the ground -- I thought I was high enough lol. I'll take the fall for this one though, pilot error!

List of Players from In-Game
================
Going to try something new out as well for maybe a few videos here and there... and see how I feel about it later... this comment/post will be for listing the players who were in-game at the time, I don't have time to go through the entire video and grab everyone I remember from the public server for Firestorm 2 (or the RP event in Firestorm 1), but if you saw yourself, or someone else in-game, and can confirm it with a timestamp (I sometimes pull up the playerlist menu, or the map with everyone's name on it, or sometimes pass by players in the game world that you can see their name), then you can post it here and I'll add their name to the list, just to have something to remember who was in this video at the time. 😁 You can post here over time as this video gets seen by others, or if you revisit the video and find a new name to add (your own, or someone else), go ahead and let me know somehow. (You can let me know on the Firestorm community discord as well, run by FireX Industries over at discord.gg/firex).

(None, yet!)
Man, wish i was able to do helicopter tryout.. I am 15
You are old enough then! I re-read some of the rules they posted at this discord message (discord.com/channels/1048805054792089662/1214042347256414260) about the requirements, and it looks like it's set to 13+ years old, not 15! You can click the link and read the announcement yourself and decide if you want to practice + prepare + apply for the next time they open pilot applications! 😁
Copy + Paste from their Discord (as of Feb 1st 2025):

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Q: How do I become Applicant?
You need to join the Roblox group by clicking here and then run the command /update with @RoWifi. This role is required to apply for LPFSCandidate!
Q: How do I become LPFSCandidate?
After being ranked Applicant, join the application center and select the LPFSCandidate Application. Click here to join the testing center or look directly under the Shoshone Forest Service group. Do note, it takes around 24-48 hours to be roled when successfully passing the test. So please be patient.
Q: How do I become a helicopter/plane pilot?
You have to be 13+, hold the position of LPFSCandidate, and successfully pass the application when it comes out (monthly), and complete flight school. Flight school runs for roughly a month after a batch starts, and is mainly a self-taught course. You could pass flight school in a couple of days or the entire month depending on your skill with what aircraft you are flying.
Q: How do I become Wildland Firefighter or Aviation Personnel?
This entry role is given right after you joined a branch and successfully passed its training program.
Q: Why am I not able to send my Application?
This is an issue when multiple people are submitting applications at once. If this does occur to you, save your answers and rejoin the game. It may not work a 2nd time, if so, wait a little and try to submit again. Only click one time on the submit button.
Q: Can I be in more than one branch/ division?
No, not with the new structure of the LPFS. You are only allowed to be part of one branch and one division in it. If you are currently part of two branches, you will be permitted to stay in both until you discharge.
Q: Can I join the LPFS on mobile/console?
No, you can't. The Los Padres Forest Service requires all personnel to play on PC (computer).

@@TersvogCvoosc I also have a question to ask, do I have to attend tryouts weekly so I do not waste role?
@@фред-у9х Sorry I don't understand 100% what you mean. Tryouts (or the chance to apply for pilot applications) happens once a month right now (usually). What do you mean by 'waste role'?
Or, I just realized... are you asking if you have to attend regular events (you used the word tryouts, but maybe you mean events?) in order to keep the pilot role? (The answer is kind of yes... kind of no... there are rumours there may be 'activity requirements' coming soon as Firestorm 2 gets closer to release - which could mean a requirement to attend events to some extent - but nothing official has been announced yet from what I can remember/see!)
@@TersvogCvoosc Oh thanks, any tips on doing helicopter test?
