From the comments it appears a lot of people are not familiar with the original Speelunker’s Cave. They are the true inhabitants of the cave. The Pirates move in but then the Speelunkers deal with them and take their treasure. I do wish there was more animation for the Speelunkers and a little more action to the battle with the pirates.
Thanks, I was beyond confused. I thought the pirates transformed into the little creatures or something because of a curse that was never explained, haha.
Quick history lesson. This ride was originally called "The Cave" and was filled with the spelunker creatures called "Spees" The ride was rethemed to Bugs Bunny/Looney Toons in the 90s in order to be more modern/IP driven. The ride flooded and was closed for years until SFOT recently reimagined the ride and themed it to Pirates plundering the "Spees" I appreciate how SFOT paid tribute to the original ride while updating the story/theme.
@@SandyC-w6x Got worse with each remodel. Same thing happened with the haunted mine ride in Frontier city, got remodeled several times and each one just got cheaper and cheesier during each incarnation. Wonder what it looks like now, I haven't been back in the better part of two decades.
I mean for Six Flags? This is a nice effort. At least they are trying dark rides. Other thrill parks could care less. It's a nice alternative for non rollercoaster riders.
Everytime I go through the mermaid part I always found comfort by the colors and the aesthetic, this was my second favorite ride in six flags over Texas
When I went on this ride about a year ago, the audio wasn’t working, most of the “animatronics” weren’t moving, and many effects didn’t work correctly. It was crappy to say the least
So this is a lot more effort in a dark ride than i would ever expect from Six Flags. Like wow they put in a lot of effort into the sets. Put like, I dont get it? What am I supposed to take away from this ride? Its really baffling and confusing. Its still really fascinating and entertaining though, just feels like if it was more refined it could have been something a tier below Knotts Berry Farm dark rides. But this still seems like a fun ride for all the effort and all the baffling confusion
Oh. . . That was certainly. . . Something. Really feels like they could have done some really cool stuff with the space if they kept to the pirate theme instead of all that whatever they did.
It was good fun, I wish Six Flags would do more whole family rides like this at their parks. I think they need to do it if they want to survive and thrive.
Former Disney Cast Member here. Kinda confused with the theming or story but otherwise it was a fun experience. It gets high points for actually be a working attraction
So this was Pirate's of the Caribbean, Tiana's Bayou and It's a Small World all rolled into one. The best I can say is that it's a place to hide on a really hot day!
This a dark boat ride at an original SF Park so what would one really expect? Hence, I am ok with it, at least it is better than any dark ride at Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg or Clifton Hill!
Welp...umm, I worked the ride years ago when it was the Yosemite ride.... the new ride is, um, kinda confusing. Like they left the pirate idea behind and went to space or something.
So . . . This is what happens when Teletubbies and Tim Burton have love children who grew up downwind from 3-mile island and wear clothes designed by Ru Paul on acid, GOT IT
It doesn’t have to have a billion dollar budget. Dude, the story line just doesn’t make sense. There’s pirates and aliens and pirates disguised as aliens torturing other pirates…what the actual F!!?! 😂😂😂
I love theme parks, my wife hates coasters, my 13 year old son will go on rides if they aren't to extreme. I tried (im UK) to go to Alton Towers and he rode wicker man and loved it, while I queued for smiler he rode runaway mountain with his mum and he wouldn't ride any other rides as he was terrified. I think her fear has rubbed off on him. I wish he hadn't gone with his scared mum and waited to go with excited me. Anyway, is Disneyland (any of them across the world) worth visiting for non coaster lovers. I'm guessing Universal and the other parks aren't (I visited California universal and Disney early 90s when they were just starting to build the first Jurassic park ride). We are also road tripping in the US in July and I'm wondering if anyone know of any parks on our route. Denver then pretty much around Wyoming state boundary via Rushmore, Cody, Yellowstone, Jackson, salt lake, Moab, boulder.
This ride is just all over the place and makes no sense, while it's nice that they payed tribute to the original speelunker cave and it has somewhat of a charm to it, it's super cheap. You can see where budget was immensely cut and it's just obvious they tried to reuse/redress as much of the gold river adventure sets as they could to save money.
What the heck did I just watch? It's like they combined 3 different ride concepts into one.
Oh man as a kid I would have LOVED it. Esp the Snork part 😂
You ain’t seen the last of Captain Moregold dawg
Pirates of the carabean.
Agreed!
You can tell the exact moment when the mushrooms kicked in on that ride.
Do you know what me too Derek Llewellyn feel like I feel like I love it so much different than Disneyland

Did we end up on the wrong track halfway through the ride?
This was an interesting video. The music on the ride remind of it's a small world after all. The pirates with gweedo from Star Wars was a nice touch.
So is this ride about Pirates or about Roger from American Dad?
LMAOO
Roger LMAO
Looks like Disney telling the Imagineers “we just cut the Pirates of the Caribbean budget by 99%, and you guys can only use items from Party City”
🤣this ride is at my home park Six Flags Over Texas and it is literally one of the best themed in the park in my opinion
It is sort of the Dollar General version of Pirates, though it's still likeable...charming even.
@@millcity9711 fr tho
In a world where Six Flags has roller coasters built over the parking lot and you can see your car, what do you really expect?
Looks more like a group of 5 year olds designed this

And was the official makeout ride during the 80's.............
I just remember it as the Yosemite Sam ride and it was a heck of a little better than this 😬
Reimagined... interesting choice of words

Pirates of the Caribbean, by Hunter S. Thompson
horrifically on point
"wow" sums it up nicely
I loved this ride as a kid. The creatures you see at the end were all through the ride. I'm glad they kept some. I like the wonkiness.
YES!!! The Speelunkers from The Cave ride! 😎
If Pirates of the Caribbean ate Beauty and The Beast, then barfed in The Little Mermaid. Yikes!😳😂
Looks like one of those rides that's so silly you just want to ride it again.
They should animate more of those figures.
They don't have very many pirates for being a pirate themed ride.
The weird aliens download movies when they’re off hours and the park is closed so they’re still pirates
They're on a smoke break
This feels like it still has quite a few bugs that need to be worked out.
I mean for Six Flags? This is a nice effort. At least they are trying dark rides. Other thrill parks could care less. It's a nice alternative for non rollercoaster riders.
Agreed!
So you started off on the Dollar Store Pirates ride and then the kraken transports you to ET's home planet?
😀
It’s awesome they brought back the Spee’s. Loved that ride as a kid in the 70’s.
Everytime I go through the mermaid part I always found comfort by the colors and the aesthetic, this was my second favorite ride in six flags over Texas
You need to ride Monster Mansion at Six Flags over Georgia. A great Six Flags dark ride.
ooooooooookaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay... That started as a low-budget pirate ride with a little charm, then took a hard right into WTF-Land... >O.o
It's giving Party City Pirates of the Carribean
3:55 The Speelunkers are adorable! 😍
When I went on this ride about a year ago, the audio wasn’t working, most of the “animatronics” weren’t moving, and many effects didn’t work correctly. It was crappy to say the least
Everytime someone complains why Disney cost so much I'm referring them to this video. See for yourself 😬
Disney costs so much because of greedy CEOs. That's literally it. You're brainwashed if you believe differently.
It feels like the 'LSD' kicked in at the half point in this ride. Do they explain what those creatures are?
“We have pirates of the Caribbean at home”
I love ❤that at SixFlags
"It's A Small Pirates World After All", or...."Pirates Of The Caribbean by Temu".
fr frrr
The Walmart version of POTC, lol😂😂😂😂😂

Yeah, it looks expensive and like they spent a lot of time on it but like something is missing at the same time.
Oh. . . That was certainly. . . Something.
Really feels like they could have done some really cool stuff with the space if they kept to the pirate theme instead of all that whatever they did.
Six flags Pirates Boat Dark Ride? My mouth dropped open and stayed that way until the end of the ride. I couldn't look away. I have NO words! 👀😵💫
What, in the name of all that's holy, did I just watch?? 😂😂.
I think I enjoyed the bonus footage at the end more than the ride. 🙃
This feels like a PG version of a William s Burroughs book… I love it
Awesome video you rock be safe out there
It was good fun, I wish Six Flags would do more whole family rides like this at their parks. I think they need to do it if they want to survive and thrive.
That's here at my Six Flags? I haven't been there in a while and I am 10 minutes away. LOL
That bobsled ride at 7:08 is in the process of being dismantled to make room for "a record breaking dive coaster" coming in 2026.
Former Disney Cast Member here. Kinda confused with the theming or story but otherwise it was a fun experience. It gets high points for actually be a working attraction
이게 무슨 내용인지 알 수 있나요?
1:47, the octopus looks like Patrick Star.
It is like having a fever dream of Pirates of the Caribbean. Or making your own version in your backyard. 😂
Loved this ride in the early 70s because it allowed us to escape the heat. They should have kept it as it was.
“Cocaine is a helluva drug.”
Wow, that this needs a major makeover.
This feels like an acid trip. At least the old Looney Tunes version was cohesive and fun. This is just...weird.
This is incredible
So this was Pirate's of the Caribbean, Tiana's Bayou and It's a Small World all rolled into one. The best I can say is that it's a place to hide on a really hot day!
Well I will say that it's Well done and very creative.
Random fact: the bobsled ride is now in pieces. We were there a few nights ago.
I'm so confused, I don't think I've seen something that both seemed like they tried and didn't try so hard all in the same ride.
This a dark boat ride at an original SF Park so what would one really expect? Hence, I am ok with it, at least it is better than any dark ride at Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg or Clifton Hill!
Whys everyone hating on this? This is really good for six flags standards.
He he he, that is really colorful and silly.
3:55 Jack Sparrow on an acid trip
Welp...umm, I worked the ride years ago when it was the Yosemite ride.... the new ride is, um, kinda confusing. Like they left the pirate idea behind and went to space or something.
I totally heard that Pirate captain saying something about Britney Spears in that beginning part, but couldn't make out the rest.
Pirates of the Caribbean the Temu version.
Rode this for the first time last month and thought i was having a bad acid trip.
Better than what most people have in their backyard.
So . . . This is what happens when Teletubbies and Tim Burton have love children who grew up downwind from 3-mile island and wear clothes designed by Ru Paul on acid, GOT IT
Nice park
That water is looking kinda muddy...mirky?😢😮
Yes what the heck is going on here? Aliens, and pirates, and bears oh my!
Magic Mountain needs something like this
Is this six flags over Georgia
Look so much fun❤❤
I like it ☺️
Six Flags please turn on the bubbles in the underwater scene and the fog on the lift hill!
This shi would be sm fun to go on with the homies right after a blinker 😭😭😭😭
🦈🦈FAMEOUS BABY RAINBOW SOLUTION🦈🦇
Very weird ride! If I had gone on the ride, I would have been disappointed, because I was expecting a pirate dark ride, not the Snorks. 😂
That was...whatever it was, but with a very vague Christmas overlay.
A Pirate ride without the Pirates lol 🏴☠️
Sea of Thieves be like
Lol that's what I thought when I first saw the ride carts
when the octopus looks like Pickle Rick!
Patrick Star sure looked pissed
Got so lost once the aliens hijacked the pirates of the Caribbean...
I love everybody criticizing every ride that doesn’t have a billion dollar budget lol. I dig this thing
It doesn’t have to have a billion dollar budget. Dude, the story line just doesn’t make sense. There’s pirates and aliens and pirates disguised as aliens torturing other pirates…what the actual F!!?! 😂😂😂
I love the Georgia mud squid

This is the Pirates of the Caribbean "we have at home" or ordered from Wish.
This was better as a Loony Tunes ride.
The hubby and I ride it,but it needs to go
This CONFUSED me!
I guess the pirates met some merpeople or somthing?
what they should have Called it AVP, Aliens Vs Pirates , that should have been the story
The ride is suffering from identity crisis
Six Flags is where poor people “get away” because they don’t expect any better.
So their ticket prices are significantly lower than whatever park you're imagining is more "high end"?
What an odd and spiteful comment
It was like the Walmart version of splash mountain mixed in with it's a small world....
Those things look like demons from the teletubbies

HAHAHA I love some of these comments
Yo ho oh no, what is this I have watched?
The "great value" pirates ride
When you watch SpongeBob SquarePants while dropping LSD.
It's such a bad ride, it's actually brilliant.
